Anyone notice a real lack of quests at 45+?Follow

#1 Sep 03 2013 at 2:45 PM Rating: Default
Ever since level 44-45 Ive been more and more having to do snoozer fates grinds or queue up for a dungeon (been doing fates since you cant queue while in a party.) And yes Ive done my hunt logs (like 99% done on it) and explored (like 95% done there). While there has been a few quests, you can count them on one hand. And there is no main story quests from 47-49. Anyone notice how much the game turns into a grindfest after 45? And while fate grinding is good xp it is so boring following the zerg and then running around mobs spamming miasma 2 so I can get gold. Is there a series of quests Im not seeing? Some super secret handshake area I dont know about? Or is there really not much to do 45-49?

If they're doing the releases for this like they do it in XI, they'll have another chunk of quests for the endgame levels in the first big patch. In the meantime, you should just do what you're doing, which is queuing up for dungeons and grinding FATES.

I think the dungeon queues will also improve once more people approach those levels. The bulk of players on most servers are in the 20s-40s on their main jobs and haven't gotten that far yet.

As you get higher I believe there is added incentive to play with others. Running quests all the way to level cap was never how SE envisioned the game.

I haven't reached the levels that you speak of, but as a level 25 player I spend way more time running dungeons, fates, leves, heists, etc with my buddies from my FC than running quests. As such I'm falling behind on the main quest and I'm sure it will run me right to level cap.

On the other hand I imagine if you are aiming at capping asap then you probably should expect a bit of a grind.

To answer your question yes. The dungeons that unlock at those levels will get you nearly 1/3 a level doing them.

Yes I did run mostly on quests all the way to 40's because yoshi stated there were enough quests to level one class to max. Im thinking he exagerated a bit on that, not that Im complaining. I just wanted to save "grinding" for additional classes.

I've run across at least two quests that were locked and said the requirement was level 50, so there are a few out there at least

this was a bad idea on your part.. the first job was ment to lvl off Main story not side quests.. now when you lvl another job from that city you will ahve zero to do other than huntlogs and fates.. you pretty much jacked your future self .

I just hit 41 WHM and I have not touched a side quest since lvl 12, and i only farmed fates to get over the lvl gaps for main story line.

I kinda wish that quests were re-opened on new classes(like leveling archer etc from level 1 when you have a 50 already). Heck, even all quests re-opened at 75% or 50% of the original quests exp would be fine. Grinding is kinda meh for casuals :P

This is Final Fantasy, can't make you repeat the same story more than once.

There is no way possible to level off of main story to lvl 50. Hell there are no main story quests from 47-49.

So for 3 lvls.. you can do old quests (which I ahve 100% of since I didnt need to use them yet) or Fate grind or run dungeons, or finish guildhests.

You are encouraged to run dungeons (optional included) from 45+ to get gears to prepare for end-game dungeons. Yes, end-game content requires reasonable gears to start with (at least iLvl 55 weapons and iLvl 50-55 armours + all accessories you could get your hands on). Going into those dungeons with iLvl 40ish you get from quest will make it harder for everyone to carry you and possibly you/others ragequit midway.

I think what he means is that the main story quest is sufficient with the other repeatable material to level your first job. That is, you should always be doing your hunting log (why leave low level log items for when you are capped?), be opportunistic about fates, unlock and do leves, unlock and do heists. All these things you can do for every job so you should be doing them for every job. Only rely on quests when you are looking for a quick boost over a hump.

All my quests minus the other two starter area quests are done (well except the three I have for 47 right now waiting to be done). Ive done all the guildhests, they stop at lvl 40 and dont award any good xp after first run. You can either fate grind or dungeon run but not both as it wont let you queue in party. Thje xp is better fate running because it doesnt take an hour to get a group.

I started ignoring people who are obviously undergeared and ragequit midway. Seriously, please don't come to Aurum Vale with iLvl 40, no raise as a BRD and ragequit at Coincounter when it's everyone's first run. I can ignore the iLvl but at least spend time learning it like everyone else, or at least pay attention to what you do and don't draw 2 x more aggro into the fray and rage quit. Strangely enough, didn't have any problem running DF with JP even if they are undergeared and I can't talk to them.

And you can start ignoring iLvl all you want, the end-games are built around iLvl. There is a very clear gear progression.

Obtaining iLvl 55 isn't frigging hard either, Grand Company is all you need if you don't want to run dozens of dungeons to find your gears. There are whole lots of way to obtain seal and you only need to run certain dungeon ONCE to get 2nd Lieutenant after you finish your Main Story, which doesn't require iLvl yet. The Lieutenant weapons are also 1/3 the price it used to be, go QQ somewhere else.

At lvl 47 I could also find FOUR camps with at least 6 quests each. I don't know how could you even miss all those quests because you get the start quests running to those camps for free EXP right after Castrum Centril return cutscenes.

After reaching L.50, I can say that there are storyline quests that'll take you to 50 plus regional quests. Did you do your class's quests for your armor?

If you plan on leveling more than a couple of classes that high it isn't going to matter anyway. You can only do a quest once, so what happens to your third class after you spent your frugally saved quests for your second class? It's all going to come down to FATE parties, dungeons and Leves at some point regardless.

It's Item Level, which determine gear ability, besides rarity. Green/blue/purple gear typically has higher iLvl than the lvl required to wear. Purple (Relic) > Blue > Green in terms of ability/rarity. It's actually easy to achieve reasonable gears for end-game with either GC Officer clothes + Officer Weapons or AF + GC Office Weapons, both of which are really easy to get and doesn't require more than ONE run of some dungeon like Dzemael Darkhold + completing Company Hunting Log + Main story. You certainly don't need to run Wander Palace or the like dozens of time.

Yoshi-P has already stated several times that end-game is heavily gear progression, especially Bahamut Dungeon (there are 5 levels of Coil atm).

It's funny how people think iLvl check is taboo. No, extremities like you must have Relic to do Relic quest is dumb, but attempting something like Primal Hard with white is also unreasonable. Much less if you can't even bother to do AF quests since it's entirely solo.

My current Maelstrom mission needed to rank up is sending me to Amdapor Keep. It looked like I needed that before being able to get the level 50 GC weapon. Unless I read it wrong.

I don't know the exact requirement for GC (already 2nd Lieut from 1.0, which required Dzemael and Castrum Novum), but it is only one successful run for the dungeon. I don't see how it's super hardcore to get one run.

Sadly from my PUG DF experience, the one without reasonable ilvl tend to be the one who messed up and then ragequit midway leaving us stranded even before anyone say anything.

Funnily enough, to progress Main story early on, you have to have lvl 5+ gear in mainhand, head, body, hand, legs and feet slots. Oh noez, iLvl is taboo.

I just hope they bring back the 8man parties from 1.0 (or 6man from XI). I know those aren't everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoyed them once in awhile, just find a camp and slaughter. It's probably do-able in the game, just not sure of which area.

I think Amdapor? Haven't got access to that yet, but lvl 49 Imperial Outpost Trial (Main story) requires full party (2 tank, 2 healer, 4 dps) and assuming the following two Main story Imperial dungeon would be the same.
