Guide to Earning Chocobo(with Adders) / Grand Company Seals Follow

So! I went about opening up the Twin Adders Company in Gridania today, and began work on earning my chocobo/Choco license. (I am so excited to ride my Coeurl! ^^) I thought I would provide a brief chronological rundown of how I went about that. I had to go to like, 5 different resources to get the crux of what was required clearly formulated in my mind, so I thought I would reconcile and compile that data on ZAM, like I used to when I played ffxi.

Step 1. MOST IMPORTANTLY: The storyline grind. If you have not opened up Twin Adders, many people will give you the names of quests that are prereqs, I felt this was slightly helpful but sometimes confusing as well as a waste of time to try to track each quest individually. Better advice I received was: Just follow the main Gridania Storyline. The main thing to remember when you are doing this is to always observe the slightly more blue icon of storyline quests, both in your log, and on the minimap. My advice is to ignore all other non storyline quests for another time on alts.
Also, another good thing to understand is: you must defeat all the dungeons up to and including Ifrit, don't worry the storyline will guide you to each one. The Ifrit fight is easy, the main thing is to avoid fire on the ground, kill the add, and if you are ranged/healer, make sure to help kill the add that spawns. Stay away from the boss (if you aren't melee/tank) if it is at any time close to you, he will conal aoe kill you right after the big explosion hits halfway through his EHP, after the add dies, (when your hp may be low.)

("I digress" SIdenote:)Those of you new to DD ques in the duty finder? Healers and tanks get fast ques, us DD do not. Be ready for a half hour to 90 min que, I would NOT sit there during it, go fish or craft or quest or something. Another idea is to build a party of your own with people off your own server using shouts, this method has fallen out of style but its a shame that it has, as it helps promote social interaction with server peers, server cohesion, and will help your server dominate progression first. There is nothing wrong with spamming shouts looking for party or building a group. I say this because one of the places I really saved time, is when you first flag Ifrit's fight, you are kidnapped and stuck in a small room with a bunch of other players on the same quest. I built a balanced party as an ARC quickly (90 seconds) as there were many players to choose from, if I had relied on a DD Duty Finder que, it couldve been up to an hour and a half!)

If you have taken quests up to the point where you are in the Waking Sands Inn in Vesper Bay, just west of Horizon near Uldah? You are close to and on the right track to beginning your grind. When the questgiver there provides an opportunity to meet the representatives of each city's Grand Company, you are just a short pilgramage (guided by the storyline to the three cities) away from beginning the chocobo grind. Go join the Twin Adders, they are just west of the main Aetherite crystal in New Grid, note this is where you register for free companies as well, note there are quartermasters there, and there is introductions to several very important game mechanics.

Step 2 Talk to all the npcs, ask them about seals, observe the quartermasters loot, take your chocobo quest, familiarize yourself with your citiy's grand company that you joined.

Step 3 Okay, now you need seals! What are the different ways to get seals? A good resource for understanding Grand Company's is here:
http://www.ffxivguild.com/ff14-grand-company-guide-a-realm-reborn/
There are many ways to earn company seals such as completing company quests, or caravan escorting (repeatable mini-quests). One of the NPCs at your Grand Company’s counter offers company seals for specific items, materials, and equipment, these can be slower as they require other disciplines and extensive travel, though they are certainly a viable seal grind. Spamming Grand Company leves is the fastest way. These change on a daily basis at 5 am. Joining F.A.T.E.’s will also award you GC Seals and this is a very fast way to get them. You will receive seals as well for completing the Grand Company's Hunt Log, which is ranked.

Step 4 Grinding Grand Company leves seems to be the community's most efficient, favorite way of getting the required seals for Chocobo. You can do this by speaking to the Grand Company Leve Questgiver in Hawthhorne Hut in Eastern Shroud.

Another good place to start is the Grand Company Hunt Log. Here is where I personally hit a snag. I wasn't realizing that you need to tab through the different type of Hunt Logs, there is one for each class icon on the left side of your hunt log, as WELL as one for each Grand Company quest log. Once I realized the differentiation from my current class's Hunt Log and the Hunt log the grand company wanted me to fulfill? I was ready to start!

A good resource for finding specific directions to each GC Seal mob spawn loacation is here:
http://xivdb.com/?search/!filters/IkhMT0c6SFNIX1RXSU46SFNIX1JBTksxOkhPSF9IT0hFWFBfSE9IQVNDOiI=

Step 6 Then I will be looking for Fates while I do GC Leve quests, once I clear whatever GC Hunt Log chapters I can at my current level of 22 (almost 23)! (Killing level 24s at 22 was a surprise from what it was like killing something 2 levels higher at say level 15, they actually finally DO start to hurt and chaining without a slight bit of resting or healing myself between pulls quickly became dangerous after the 2nd mob.

All Fates reward seals, I personally ran around Southern Shroud as the FATEs were the same level as I was. I certainly saw at least 50 people at each Fate that was spawning, my guess is they were looking for GC seals for the chocobo grind just like me.
At level 30 or so, one level worth of FATE exp will net you over 2k seals more often than not, so getting exp and seals at the same time makes some sense.

Step 7 Profit. Grind the points you need and follow the chocobo quest through until you are ready to speak to the questgiver nearby the main crystal in Gridania, and boom, your chocobo awaits! I will complete the grind myself today right before the 11 hour patch where they're adding new servers and addressing the intial first week login que problems. Can't wait to ride my Coeurl!!!

Always remember, Mithras and Miqo's own the house, not you, we permit you to live here!!!

Very nice thank you...
Do you have to do the one dungeon that you just talked to the guy outside but don't actually have to fight? I have defeated ifrit?

You have to do all this to ride the Coeurl too?

I believe Ifrit is the last forced group before you qualify to join a Free Company and start the seal grind.

^ This.
I was able to just do 2 Company Leves over and over and gain the seals much faster then hunting down and going FATEs to get a good amount.

Ifrit is the last Duty Dungeon, afterwards it is a few more mission quests away.

Have to get chocobo whistle before you can use Coeurl.

I did the same.

FATES in my area were over before they began. So I just grinded Company Leaves and really took around an hour or so until I had enough.

I've done pretty well in terms of GC seal acquisition just from the FATEs I was already doing. At level 30 or so, one level worth of FATE exp will net you over 2k seals more often than not, so getting exp and seals at the same time makes some sense.
