I'm presuming the answer is no, but just wanted to check before I decide on doing this or not. To get a full set of gear from the first 3 dungeons, or at least head, chest, hands, legs, and feet, can you just farm the same one? Or, does only certain pieces drop in particular dungeons. For example, chest only dropping in Tam Tara, ect. I know it's not all that efficient to grind them on your first character, considering most people just want to do them for the story progression and move on. The gear is not THAT great and will be replaced soon enough. however, for alt classes, that gear is good enough to stretch out quite a few levels and may be worth farming.

So, has anyone taken this route, or have you been spreading the runs out between all 3 for better drop chances? Considering party make up has no effect on what type of gear drops, I'm assuming you still have to grind out quite a few runs to get a full set, regardless if you just grinded the same one over and over.

Yes the first three dungeons look like they share a common loot pool, credit to the excellent people at BG.

For all the reasons you have mentioned it is not that profitable. Also keep in mind that saving gear for alts is not the intended path. You are supposed to convert spirit bonded gear to get materia. The materia bonded gear has greater potential.

You say that, but if you level a lot of jobs, then keeping this low level gear around means you can spirit bond it and make more materia for later. Just throwing that out there.

Can't convert green item. But you can exchange them for Grand Company seals.

As a GLD in Phase 3 I ran the 3 dungeons non stop and ended up with a full set of the greens. They last quite a while when compared to simple quest rewards. And you end up helping others get through the dungeons. Of course that last bit depends on your class. Tank and Healers running them non stop = good for everyone. I'm sure more DD classes in the loop will just make things worse for the DDs.

To get 4/4 on the Acolyte or Foestriker set is probably going to take you quite a few runs. The loot pools for the first 3 dungeons seems shared, so you could have a random piece drop in any of them. So just queue for all 3 at the same time if you're intent is to farm the pieces. And they only drop from the final chest after the boss. Just keep running them if you want the set, and always go so you can Need it, or otherwise you won't have a chance because someone will Need it. I've seen lots of Acolyte pieces and have 3/4 after probably 20 runs. Not been too bad because I run as CNJ and get near instant queues. Foestrikers? You're going to have to have some patience because of the long DPS queues.

You can also go with crafting if you want, HQ gear with materia melded on it is on par (if not better cause you can pick the stat you wanna put on the gear) with pink gear dropes in dungeons, so far in the first 3 dungeons i have seen. I will be testing this with all the dungeon gear compared to my HQ gear.

How do you do that? Which NPC do you talk to for Maelstorm GC?
