I remember some beta videos of Yoshida auto changing into different jobs and gear with one button press from what ever menu it was but I certainly can't find any option for that.

Later addition mayhaps?

Nope it's there now, gets unlocked when you hit about 15 or so from memory. Manageable from above your character picture in the character dialogue.

Comes at level 10 once you 1) finish your lvl 10 job quest and 2) pick up a new job.

Then you can make a set for each job and change easily between them. Press C to raise your character screen and you'll see two buttons at the top. One is to view the sets you have save (and wear them) and the other is to save what you are currently wearing.

It's one of the best things ever. Gear set to a job, log into Duty Finder, then gear set to a DoH and craft while waiting. When you get a Duty party you gear set back and are good to go.

You can even drag it to the hotbar. Though actual switching in combat is not possible.

Also, I would like to note that when you unlock additional new classes, it further increases your maximum allowable gear sets.

ah brilliant thanks. Shame I'm stuck with the old manual and now have to rely on random pop up hint boxes to now tell me what to do :(

Oh and yeah, I noticed you can't change or add pieces of gear while in combat....
So that's macro gear abilities out the window then...
90% of my ffxi macros had gear swaps, but I'll assume that there's less gear in ffxiv that has poor stats with just a good ability boost, if any.

I know this was an old post but one of the only ones I can find on the subject.
With the addition of Rogue and Ninja in 2.4 I've noticed the maximum Gear Sets has not increased, I'm only allowed up to 28 Gear Sets - which would have been one for each class, one for each job and one for each crafting before Rogue and Ninja were introduced - whereas now there are 30 jobs/classes.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Sounds silly but I like to be super organised with it all XD
Necro Warning: This post occurred more than thirty days after the prior, and may be a necropost.

Nope. I have 35 available gear sets. I got a new one with Rogue and another new one with Ninja. Re-count them. If you're really missing one, you should open a ticket.. but I suspect that you aren't.

I'm on PS4 and theres a counter at the bottom of my gear sets "26/28" (as I currently have 26 out of 28 in use). Tried making a few random ones but capped at 28 atm :-/ will raise a ticket if thats the case, thanks ^^

Any idea how you got up to 35? I thought that you only got one set for each class and job. And like SilentHarp, I only count 30 of them.

I want to say I got extra sets when I unlocked the various PvP modes, but I just checked and the math doesn't quite work. So, no.. I don't know where the extra gear sets came from.

Screenshot

I did check just to make sure I didn't get them from illiteracy.

one per job, one per class, and a few extra you start with (I think... but it could have been one per PvP event... not class in PvP)

My "alt" only has one class unlocked (the starting class). And it's level 16, so no jobs. No DoH, no DoL. Just CNJ. And she has 8 gear sets. My main has 7 classes, 5 jobs, 8 DoH and 1 DoL for a total of 21, and he has 26 gear sets total.

Perhaps my alt is already getting a gear set for the first DoH and first DoL classes even though I haven't unlocked any yet (i.e. you won't see an increase in your gear sets until the 2nd DoH/DoL you unlock) along with 5 extra slots?

I'm guessing your alt is getting gear sets for things like your hot tub outfit, your hanging-out-in-the-guild outfit, and so on.
