I think this was posted in another thread, hope it helps. Still waiting on my copy of the game to arrive so I can't confirm whether any of the info is legit :p.

The part about having to have be level 50, upon all quests, spend 900 tomestones (cut into my darklight gear savings...) and having to beat ifrit, garuda, and titan on hard plus run an additional dungeon is sort of concerning. It will be well worth the effort, I am sure.

Yea but after doing all that what is a relic good for? I joke
I am sure by then there will be new stuff.

Yeah that is a valid concern. Its iLvl 80, the +1 version is iLvl 90 along with the Allagan version. Hopefully they have staying power but there is already better out there.

I thought Yoshi said some weapons would be able to 'level up'. Not sure how... The idea was to combat some of the gear rat race.

1,200 tombstones if you're a Paladin!

No, it doesn't cut into your darklight savings gear because Relic upgrade use mythology and darklight uses philosophy.

HM Ifrit is already being pugged. For PUGs (not experience groups) you "need" a bored Paladin that will stun Eruptions, a BLM or SMN for their L3 limit break (or if the tank bothers his), and people that can recognize patterns and move out of his line rushes and the plumes. It's only really a hardmode in the damage taken and damage needed to take him down.

In fact, to me personally HM Ifrit's much easier than Tonberry King or Ampador Keep. Plus, getting a weapon from Ifrit will make everything else much easier on your path to your relic.

Garuda's a higher gear-check and Titan a higher one in that but not completely un-PUGable.

You (collectively, not you personally) can't really assume "why bother if you have to do all this to get a relic" when they've stated, and have already followed up on, the fact that Relics will always be upgraded and constantly relevant content. This isn't FFXI where they were put out in a half-assed fashion and few were worth making even with higher DMG just because of worthless aftermaths. Not having any aftermaths (yet) may be more boring, but at least this way every single relic is worth going after for everyone and that's at least a plus.

What's better out there? Nothing. Even the Allagan items are only comparable, but not better.

I think you are not realizing how much of a DPS increase you get from just a few points of dex or base dmg.

I just got my unfinished relic this morning, and I can offer this advice:

Do NOT finish the story and proceed directly to relic quest. I see far too many people with level 44 weapons trying to get a relic. When I suggest that they upgrade their weapon first, they say "no worries, I'm getting a relic."

No, you aren't. If you manage to get a relic while using that gear, you will have been severely carried and a detriment to ever party you join. I'm not saying this to be elitist, but to help everyone. There are Grand Company weapons iLVL 55, and there are Darklight Weapons iLVL 60 from The Wanderer's Palace. Getting one of these will greatly improve your DPS, which is severely needed on much of the content for the Relic.

No one is asking for Primal Weapons, but much of the Relic Content is gated by DPS rates. Ampador's Keep, for one, won't be winnable unless you can DPS high enough to kill the second boss The Demon Wall

Basically, Relic is not "Step 2" it's more like steps 5-10, and completing the main scenario is step 1. There's also VERY good gear in Ampador's Keep and The Wanderer's Palace (iLVL 60), plus tomestones of philosophy that drop in both to buy some Darklight Gear (iLVL 70).

Just keep in mind the iLVL of the gear you are trying to obtain, and try to keep within 10 levels of it before trying to obtain it, or you'll be hurting your team.

I know it was not aimed at me but I'm going for the SCH relic. Can you restate your response?

Ha, you'll definitely want to prioritize Mnd and Detemrination gear. It will just make your life easy as both stats boost your healing so you'll be less frantic. All the places mentioned above have amazing healing gear as well.
