New Content / ExpansionFollow

Not that I'm anywhere close to needing new content, but does anyone know of any info or details regarding new content or expansions?

none yet. since the game just launched, not before at least a year until an expansion comes out.

there will be new content however every 3 months in major patches. Not just bug fixes, but additions to the main story quests, possibly new dungeons,, gear, etc.

Yoshi P indicated that the "script" for the first expansion is already in rough draft form.

That is, since ARR is a story driven MMO, they're writing the story first and then they'll build the rest of the expansion around it. This model served them well in XI, where each expansion was essentially its own Final Fantasy game, complete with its own monsters, areas, and endgame, all set in the world of Vana'diel.

- New Primal Battles - Ramuh, Shiva, Leviathan

- New Classes / Jobs

I'm pumped that they're going to bring Gold Saucer into the Eorzea. Anyone know if we'll be able to gamble our gil? Will there be racing?

More to the story line?? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy XIV, played since V.1 launch, but the main line is so draaawn out. Some of those quest could be cut out. Someone ask me a question about an early mission, and I have to think so far back, because so many quest have been done lol.

Yeah I have nothing against quest spam, but it does seem drawn out just for the sake of it. Every time there is something good that is about to happen...oops the guy doesn't TRUST me...better do 20 quests for everyone in the village first then fate grind up lol

Im not complaining, I like doing quests (its why I like mmorpgs) but it gets a bit annoying to have a cliff hanger based on it I guess.

Certainly wouldn't be easy to make every quest a main storyline quest and have it be quality, you would need a volume of novels worth of quality material to do it...but man that would be one hell of an MMORPG.

Also, you are going to need more storyline to go with the new content, that's just how it goes.

any educated guesses on next class or jobs..could use another healer or a buff and debuff class.
maybe a dancer...

Or they could do something else they did in FFXI, release an expansion with only 10% of the complete story line and then gradually fill it in over the course of an excruciating 3 years. By which time the community groundswell to do that content is well and truly dead. WotG, I'm looking at you.

Not that I think this'll happen, I just think it's wise to be prepared for the possibility.

If the next class added isn't Thief, I'm going to be one sad panda. Or if it's not a class, whatever class that gets added needs to have Thief be a corresponding job...I miss my Thief Smiley: glare

In response to both of you: Since daggers are already in the game for Gladiator, I have a feeling another weapon type will be introduced. Perhaps a Knife or Kukri style weapon which would introduce a new base class from which THF and DNC could branch off from. Just my theory.

THF and DNC both interest me a lot, so I do hope to see them soon. At least one of them.

Yeah, I'm trying to think of alternate class names and drawing a blank. "Assassin" is too specific and the idea I think would be that NIN could get all the killing abilities while THF would get all the, well, stealing stuff.

Bandit? Rascal? Shyster? Scrapper?

More likely THF class, and THF/ARC combo for NIN job? I think that would be a more sensible route. Hope they introduce MRD/THM for Dark Knight, and perhaps ARC/THF for a Corsair type job?
