Selling to crafters via AH is just another gil sink due to taxes. I love the way the white knights have clung to this crafting idea as if it is an acceptable or valid solution to the lack of gil fountains. Do the math, there is a 66 page thread of people who've done it and the numbers don't add up. What is everyone missing that you aren't?
e.g. do you really think there will be enough crafters doing leves to sustain everyone who prefers combat and doesn't want to make underwear and chop wood? What are they supposed to do, quit, go play something else and take their subscription money with them?
And? That 66 pages thread is 6 days old. There's another 21 pages thread that is less than 1 day old saying the opposite. Do the math, people have done it and the numbers do add up. What is everyone missing that YOU aren't? Oh Em Gee, because some (yes, some, 66 pages whooping threads, 660+ post, even at 1 person per post that's barely a very small fraction of 320k+ concurrent users we are seeing hammering the servers) think it's bad, everyone else need to follow suit. Oh yes, the economy is draining of gil yet people claiming to buy them at cheap gil/real money rate to sustain themself. I wonder where does that gil come from... bots don't do quest, they rather do something else that can be automated.
In 1.0, lvl 50 leve gives 4-5k gil which is now the equivalent of 400-500 gil Battleleves give. It was giving a lot more in the first few months from 1.0 launch but was quickly patched up. You don't get 100k gil per leve in 1.0 unless you do 30+ other leves for faction points to exchange for certain faction leves. And yet, 1.0 gil was inflated so much.
