Mogstation can't register billing info - error code 601Follow

I (finally) was able to patch and install the game yesterday. I then wanted to register my billing details via Mogstation, using my credit card.

After trying to complete billing registration with 4 cards, I kept receiving the error code: 601:

"An error has occurred..
Please confirm the status of any relevant options and then try again.
As repeated registration failure can lead to restrictions being placed on your account, we strongly recommend that you contact the Square Enix Support Centre for guidance before attempting to register a Credit/Debit card again.
If you are registering a payment method with a payment service provider like ClickandBuy, please contact them directly.
(Error code: 601)"

I spoke to SE Customer Support and was told last night that the error code 601 was in place due to the fact the free trial period was still in effect, and no payment methods could be registered until today and to try again in the morning. This seemed to be fair as my account stated yesterday that my 'Service Account Status' had 1 day remaining (although this seemed convenient/odd).

Even though I am a returning 1.0 player, who also purchased the ARR PC CE - I was not able to logon until now (even though I DID complete registration and validate my access code for Early Access - just never played during the play window).

tl;dr: My questions are:
  • Has anyone been able to complete registration of their credit cards and bypass this error?
  • Is there another way around completing the billing rego?
  • Do I need to register the game code that came with my ARR PC CE version at all, even if I'm a returning 1.0 player?

  • I am Australian-based playing on an EU account, and have not been able to purchase Crysta/Game Cards either.

ANY advice would mean the world to me right now :(

This happened to me. In my case, I got it accepted only after bringing up my Firefox NoScript addon, and allowed scripts globally for the card to be accepted.
Closed it up tight later, but...yea...

OP: I am having the same exact issue right now. I am unable to add a subscription service with my credit card and unable to purchase Crysta.

As for the Firefox thing, can you explain this more? It's a special add-on? What is the function of the add on? I want to try something because I only have 20 days of playtime left on my account and don't want it to run out.

    Lawdie lawdie lawd SE...

I'm not sure how close we are to subs being required for those of you who can't use CC to sub, there's always the Ultimate Game Card. It's just a card with a scratch off for a pin number that you can apply funds to your account with. I think it's only $10, $20 and $50 if you get them at the store, but they're available at Gamestop/EB, tons of grocery stores like albertsons/safeway/giant as well as a lot of convenience stores like 7-11 or Circle K.

Yeah Filth I am thinking of having a family member grab me an Ultimate Game Card since I am living in Tokyo and this CC issue has me going crazy. If my account is suspended due to lack of payment I am heading down to SE and knocking on doors. They need to seriously step their customer service game up. The Mog Station is a major step forward, but why does it apparently seem to be non functional for a multitude of people. Not accepting payment until one's initial subscription runs out as the customer service rep noted to the OP a ridiculous answer. This couldn't possible be true.

SE had horrible billing practices with PlayOnline for FFXI(one resulting in class action lawsuit) and I filled a sticky full of instructions on the 50 different ways people needed to register pre-orders and setup their accounts. Making people wait until their trial ends to set up a subscription... I wouldn't put it past them, honestly Smiley: frown

Oh and if you're in Japan you might look out for the pre-paid game cards. Kinda cool looking art. The only one I've actually seen was a 60-day subscription like the WoW game cards, but it might be a more convenient option.

Well I am in walking distance of SE headquarters and they have an SE cafe near the main building that sells a lot of SE products. Maybe I will look for the game cards there. I wonder if I will be able to use them since I registered my game with my US address.

Honestly I am wondering if I am unable to register my credit card on Mog Station because it's a US card and I am using a Japanese IP. For me, registering the game was like this. I couldn't register the game until I used a VPN and changed to a US IP, then it worked straight away. I am going to try to the same for Mog Station and report what I find.

Have encountered the same issue this morning!

Selected 30 day subscription and went through the card set-up process, however due to Mog Station not informing me of the transaction amount for 30 days until the card was registered, I went back to see how much the 90 day cost was (Usually this is slightly cheaper) it required the payment process set-up again!

Unfortunately I have now received the same code 601. I contacted SE on 0870 600 0182 (Select Opt: 1 for FFXIV: ARR) to be told I had attempted over 10 transactions, and due to this my account has now been locked for 24hours.

It appears the helpdesk are unable to unlock the account, or accept payments (Some Helpdesk!)

If someone today (17th September) has had the same issue, and has been successful in using a game card to allow them to log in can you please post stating what you did.

I'll keep you updated tomorrow IF my account allows me to once again input payment method details.

    Kind Regards.

Had/have this problem. Also on a 1.0 account. Subscription expired this morning and I couldn't log in. Tried different browsers etc and in the end had to resort to buying a game card.

I was booted today as well--while playing. After some searching, I am assuming it is because of improperly registered payment methods in place at the end of the free trial period. I can't login to the game and it gives me this message:

No valid or active service account is available to play FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Proper registration through the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Mog Station is required.

    * Users participating in early access must also complete registration by August 30, 2013. Using the code enclosed with your package, please complete registration through the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Mog Station.

Problem is, I can't seem to update my payment method. I've tried my credit card, and payment with crysta through paypal. Neither have been accepted. It gives me this message:

    An error has occurred..
Please confirm the status of any relevant options and then try again.

I am a Legacy member. It has the little logo at the bottom of my service account in the Mog Station. I downloaded FFXIV:ARR for free since I already purchased v1.0.

Honestly, I'm at a loss. If SquareEnix really really doesn't want me giving them a monthly subscription, I suppose I can't argue. I feel like I'm breaking up with a girlfriend I still love for the fourteenth time. If you gave me an option SquareEnix, I would take. Offer me a solution, return my calls, sit down and have a conversation with me. Otherwise, I really don't see this relationship going anywhere.......................

(Yes, SquareEnix seems to be an immature girl who lacks the stability to be in any kind of serious relationship (with their customers).) >:P

    Hi all

Same thing happened to me, I also use firefox. I tried two different cards and it gave me the same error.

I got it to work by trying a different browser - Internet explorer let me use my card in the end.

There are no agents available to chat with you right now. Please try again later. "

Guys just buy Crysta with UltimatePay, it's a different payment gateway and works fine - plus you can use Paypal or Credit or anything! Ya it sucks you can only buy in 1000 increments, but over the long run it's pretty much the same.

Well the lack of functionality on Mog Station is inexcusable. These customer service blunders are shocking to say the least. I think I am going to go ahead and move forward with the purchasing of an ultimate game card and try this route to give the brain trust at SE a bit more time to figure out a way to allow their customers to pay them. One would think as a business one of the first orders of business would be to iron out the whole accepted of money for services rendered thing...guess not...

Shocking, isn't it? Now I've been trying to call customer service after filing a ticket and I've been getting a busy signal for the past hour. I guess they shut off the que system due to "server overload" on their telephone lines as well.....lol

Ultimate Pay doesn't need you to buy cards - you can just PayPal straight out of a checking account. They're safe and cool (unlike Click n' Steal.)
