Just an FYI for those of you like me who were planning on upgrading. I tried Gamestop, Sony, and Amazon. It's no longer available for pre-order. If anyone knows of any reputable retailers still accepting pre-orders, could you please post a reply?

Thanks.

I don't know if Gamestop or Sony ever had it (did they?) but I just now checked Amazon and they had it available for preorder:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DCBDNW6/ref=s9_simh_gw_p63_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0M9KCSP8ESNK797KK8SB&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846

You might have to click on the Playstation 4 option.

It's also possible that the entries were removed from other sites (if they were there to begin with?) since an actual release date aside from the beta date has not been announced yet.

Is this about the game or the console itself?

No longer available because tons of people beat you to it. You're stuck waiting for the actual release, or hope they allow more pre-orders.

Yeah sorry, I should have been more clear. The PS 4 console is no longer available for pre-order.

ETA: I updated the title of the post.

Yeah I told my fiance that all I want for Xmas is a PS4, and she can't find a way to pre-order it anywhere.... Smiley: mad

The day following E3 the PS4 sold out of the first pre-order list shipment within hours. I literally was heading out the door to Gamestop, but stopped for some lunch first and the last console was sold out. Luckily I drove down the street to Best Buy and was able to pre-order one. Gamestop and other retailers were later able to expand the pre-orders store by store, but their all booked now. The best way to get a PS4 is to order one from a retailer that wasn't offering pre-orders. Kmart and Target are two retailers I believe that weren't offering them pre-ordered. You could always try online Walmart too. Jack Tretton said that the Western launch will meet the demand for this holiday season. Considering Sony bumped the JP launch until next year(thanks to our pre-order insanity), you'd probably be able to get one if you jumped though some hoops. The PS4 launches on Nov15. So I'd advise to order before Black Friday if possible.

On a somewhat related note, is there any word on whether or not we'll need a Playstation Plus membership to play FFXIV on PS4? I'm contemplating whether to spend $580 to (possibly) fix my unstable PC or just buy a PS4. I just want a machine that runs FFXIV well and works with no problems.

I'm pretty sure in the early press releases they specifically mentioned Free 2 Play MMOs on the PS4 like Free Realms and DCUO not requiring Plus. They didn't mention FFXIV specifically.

I work at Target and each store got a specific amount of preorder cards for their location which will guarantee you a launch console. They became available 2 weeks ago and last week we finally sold our last one. If other Targets do what we did then most customers might not know they have preorder cards because we kept ours at the camera boat in electronics in a drawer. It may be a long shot now but maybe a Target near you might have one left. The preorder card is for $25 dollars and you get a bonus with it(something along the lines of the $25 you pay for the card goes towards an accessory or game when you pick the console up). BTW, the if you get one they are only redeemable at the Target you baught it from, this makes sure people don't sale the card on ebay.

Well, I waited on line (no pre order) for the PS3 & Wii at midnight launch, and didnt get one (missed PS3 by 3 ppl!)... Failing to learn from my mistakes, I did the same thing when the wii U launched, and got one at around 12:20am lainch day! However I was somewhat saddened to see a STACK of them at my local best buy 2 days later, guess the hype wasn't there...

Maybe the PS4 launch will be as the PS3 launch, but I'm not standing I line at midnight this time, and not concerned I won't find one before Feburary when the PS4 beta starts (only reason I want PS4 so far is ffxiv, loving the PS3 experience even know my laptop (Razor blade 14") blows it away))

However I'd love to hear the early adapters of PS4 opinions!!!!

Tried Best Buy, Target and TRU, no dice. The Walmart website says something about doing layaway in store so I'm going to try that tonight.

I don't know your personal taste so really my opinion shouldn't matter. However, I feel that the new Assassin Creed and my personal fav Watch Dogs will be a good reason to own the PS4. I'm buying the PS4 more for the networking features though. It's cool what Sony has done and I'd like to be there on the ground floor. I'd also like to start tests on a SSD upgrade and other things to get the PS4 ready for FFXIV.

In Maryland, they are all gone. You can buy the inflated ebay price if you want, during release. I have a launch day pre ordered and if I can get double, I would sell it, otherwise I am going to sleep with it until FFXV, KH3, and FFXIV is released.

You might be out of luck. BUT launch systems are either really bad quality or the best out of all the one developed. So, consider yourself luck or unlucky.
