Can I transfer items from one character 2 another?Follow

#1 Sep 20 2013 at 11:43 PM Rating: Decent
I have two characters in one server and I want to send some items to the second character.
Is it possible to send items from one to the other? Both are in the same server and both are in
my account.

Is it possible to add yourself (your other character) to your friends list? If so, you can send items by mail.

#6REDACTED, Posted: Sep 21 2013 at 12:29 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) does that actually work?

The only ways I know of transferring items to a character on the same account are:
1.) Have a friend or someone you trust hold on to the item while you switch characters.
2.) Join the same FC with both characters with access to the company chest. Drop your item and hope that someone doesn't snag it in the 30 secs or so it takes to switch characters.
3.) Buy your own stuff on the market. You can buy your other character's item at whatever price you set. The thing is, it's not a 1:1 transfer in gil. The minimum gil you'll lose is 3% if you do it right. Plus to do this, you'll need to get your 2nd character up to whatever level to unlock the retainers if you want to transfer stuff to your main using the market.

I think its strange they set up our accounts to be Anti-Mule.

I mean we all had at least 3-4 mules in FFXI. The retainers can only hold so much, and 2 isn't gonna be enough for some folks.

I agree, I'm a weapon/armor hoarder. We discussed this in my FC the other night, that with the reatiner system it should be easy for them to add more npc's slots, through quests, or achievements.

So if I wanted to start over, but play on the same server, I can't mail that new character all my gil?
lame.

The reason why I wanted to do this was because I created a second character as Marauder which I started playing. Since my main is a pulgist, I have gathered a bunch of items that the Marauder can use. Its just difficult to send this items unless with the help of a trusted friend with fortunately I have. Putting in it on sell can be risky.

I'm going to guess that a system will be added at a later time. Maybe making use of Player housing.

I guess the real question is why did you create a second character to make a Marauder, instead of just unlocking Marauder on your first character and playing both classes on one?

I did something similar with FFXI, is just that I have my main as a human female with that role and basically I created a second which is a big hume which fits more the role as a Marauder and Warrior. But, worse case, I will use my main. But still it would had been nice to be able to have access to items with all the chars as of FFXI.

This thread is ripe for gobbiebag quests, probably from Brayflox. I'm guessing they'll up the retainer quota at some point too, and add a bag in your inventory for fishing lures.
#19REDACTED, Posted: Sep 22 2013 at 6:54 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) wouldn't fishing lures be considered second hand items like shields? if that is the case and they do as you said they're have to add one for shields also.

Well someone pointed out that "hey why not just unlock the other job you want to play on the same character?"

I disagree and here's why: I picked a miqote' (keeper of the moon for the nice stats in mind and intelligence). Their starting stats for INT however may be somewhat lacking for THM/ACN/BLM/SMN. You'll notice a trend here and that's my preference for making characters that fit a little better into their roles stats wise. With that being said yes I'm going to have at least 2 characters; one to play melee jobs and one to play my Mage roles.

It was disappointing, to the say the least, when I found out I couldn't mail myself any of this awesome gear I've gotten for my melee classes.

While I totally agree with you from a min/max or RP perspective, I think it's important to note:

Quote:
Ultimately, as long as you chose appropriately and build properly, the small differences in starting stats accounts for much less than a 0.5% difference end-game.
