Am not living in Limsa Lominsa because I need all the gil I can get.

Guess I'll go live next to Kan-E-Senna in Gridania.

Then again I may as well living in Limsa, because Blacksmithing is holding me hostage without ransom there.

Honestly, I don't know how it's going to work yet, but I can't wait to see. I don't know where I would live. I love the water feature in Gridania, but the library is cute in the innroom for Ul'Dah... I haven't seen Limsa's rent-a-room yet... But then the player housing might deviate from those archetypes. I have no idea.

I just want to have a mog house again. GLEE!!

I think, possibly, housing is going to be like Runescape - where you can add rooms. build furniture etc.
Yoshi seems to have got a lot of his ideas from that game.
I.E his depiction of joint FTP/Subscription worlds is what happens there
(only difference is they have REAL regional worlds and themed worlds and you can freely world hop all day long - no charge.)
Of course the graphics are crappy but overall it can be an absorbing game.
#6REDACTED, Posted: Sep 21 2013 at 5:43 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I never understood why people cared about housing... it is a colossal waste of time for the developers. If you want to play barbie doll house, go play the sims.

Not sure if I'll buy my own or co-op with my FC. I know you get an base XP bonus on DoH and DoL when you buy shared housing, but we don't yet know what the bonus is for private housing. Time to start saving up Gil!

Yeah, fantasy in a fantasy game is clearly a waste of time.

It has nothing to do with a "barbie house". Here, let me show you my mog house:

Screenshot

See all that stuff? That's from the events every year. Up until the most recent years, I did every single event. Hell, back in the day I even wrote a walkthrough for the original Summerfest. To me, it's a place to display what you've won over your time with the game.

Eventually, you get the best gear, and that gear gets replaced. But your house stands in tribute of your time (mis)spent on the game. It is a collection of those things that mean something to you, that have value to you.

Plus then there's the idea of storing extra gear there, possibly mannequins will return so you can show off the armor sets you don't use but just cannot convert or sell because, hell, you worked hard for them... And it just makes the world more rich to literally have a place to call home in it.

Every other MMO I've played has had some version of this outside of WoW... and oddly enough I find myself least able to stand WoW. Because it never felt like home, like I ever left a mark there. This could be why.

I want one for more space to fill up. I would love a house that would be full of pots to grow crystals , unless growing crystals is illegal in most city states in ARR.Smiley: frown

Honestly, I can't wait for both player and Free Company housing. Now, if only I could put my little slice of Eorzea in Coerthas (I want snow, damnit!). It'll be winter all year round in my burg. Smiley: nod

Though, the hair salon might be nice as well. I remember PSU having that, and it was used to great extent by people who had gotten bored of looking "the same". Now, if it added a couple of "extra" hairstyles that weren't available at creation, then it'd be a veritable (albeit, hopefully "small") gil cow for a little while... lol

if we're listing things we'd like with ref to PSU (by the way i miss and wish it was still up) why not add the interactive decorations like the punching bag or yoga mat?

So, would Clothcraft be able to make wigs then?

#15REDACTED, Posted: Sep 22 2013 at 8:05 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I am familiar with your rationale... it is just a complete waste to me. I don't play games in order to have to justify my time by decorating a fake house with stuff in a videogame. I want them to focus on content. Again, if you want to decorate a house, go play the sims.

Well, since I'm starting to work on weaving, yes, yes it could/should/would. lol They'd need an entirely new dye for wigs, though...rainbow!

So, let's look at this thread, shall we?

7 people who want housing.

1 person who doesn't.

Hey, why don't you go play WoW. There's tons of content there, and no housing!

Fixed it for you, man.

We're all playing games to enjoy ourselves, and the more diverse content and sidequests a game offers the better it is for everyone.

Fixed. I want housing too, because maybe I do like barbie decorating, or maybe like you said earlier, it's a place to show off things you have done in the game.
My homes (yes multiple) in EQ2 were places where I could spend hours, displaying my trophies from raids, quest items from events, or just other things that I had acquired, and were MY accomplishments.

Things I sometimes play...

It's not just about decorating, although I spent a fortune on my MH when I played FFXI.

Frankly, I want player housing so I can craft in peace. I am tired of trying to find a relatively clear spot to craft in town or at a sanctuary, especially if I need to move items to/from my retainers. Even with the auto-logout feature, the Summoning Bell is a very crowded and laggy spot at the market areas.

This ^^. I hate crafting on top of people and having access to my retainer right there in my mog house would be awesome. FC housing would also be awesome especially if people were crafting things for each other or for raids.

i kind of hope they set up a way to host parties in the homes itself, as well as set it up where you can open it up to players and allow then to search out your look and see how you decorated it {bit of of PSU ref.}

Since each zone is instanced and you can literally see the entire neighbourhood, one would assume this to be a given. Though dynamic outside decorations may not be in the cards, they could make it a feature if they have enough money dedicated to it.
