I just wanted to know if anybody else is experiencing this as well. I always make sure to select join in progress when queuing for a dungeon granted I'm a DPS class so it's not a big deal but I am leveling up a tank class and plan on doing the same. My question is last night in an AK run that I joined in progress 2 pieces of DPS gear dropped and the need button was grayed out, and yes it was gear relevant to my job. Since everybody selects greed in dungeons it seems I lost out on both pieces, while this doesn't bother me at all it's just gear it will drop again if the fact that I joined an in progress dungeon prevents me from selecting need on items I can see this being another deterrent for people wanting to join in progress dungeons. Has anybody else seen this?

I apologize for any typos doing this from my cell phone.

Are you sure it was relevant?

Because if it has dex, for instance, and you are not an Arc/Brd then even though it's technically DPS gear, you still won't be able to need it.

That's the only time I've seen those sorts of things grayed out.

I have not noticed this before.

Granted, every single time i click "Join in progress" two things happen:

Option A: I dont get to join a party halfway, but instead get directed to a fresh group that has been waiting on a Tank for ages and we can get started instantly.

or

Option B: I join a party halfway that lost their Tank because they were so horribly incapable of finishing the first boss that there's no fixing it anymore. We go at it two more times without any healing what so ever and the group falls apart.

Not once has the option "Join in Progress" given me a substantially better experience as a Tank than i would have gotten from just joining the regular queue. I'd love to just get a group once in a while that only needs to finish the last boss and is done with the dungeon, but no. Doesnt happen.

So for me, "Join in progress" isnt an incentive at all. Maybe to a DPS with long queue times, not to a Tank. Usually when a Tank is missing, you know the group is in deep ****.

Are you a dragoon? Sometimes with heavy armour for dragoon you can't select "Need" and I don't know why.

Your inventory was probably full?

I haven't had this happen to me(join in progress is the only way DF is gonna work anyway).

They should really just rename that button "join party that lost its tank". Every single time I've clicked that it's been "the tank bailed on us". The group even knew the dungeon and when a tank finally showed 15 min later we cleared the place fairly quickly and easily.

Are tanks the new princess bards in this game?

If I'm correct it depends on what other DD class was with you.. LNC/DRG and PUG/MNK will get STR gear while ARC/BRD gets DEX gear

In AK a healing class can't roll need on the Demagogue stuff or however its spelled. It has +INT on it. And no one else can roll need on stuff in AK with +MND on it. If you can recall what states or name of the gear you will most likely find its better for a different class. They just didn't put that class ON the gear.

I've pretty much learned to ignore the existence of the "Join Party In Progress" checkbox - 50% of the time, the player you're replacing had a very, VERY good reason to bail mid-run, and 49% of the time, you're going to be waiting forever and a day to get a new tank and/or healer anyways and now you can't gather, craft, or otherwise muck about in the world while you wait.

Actually for me its the opposite. I see DPS drop a DF faster then anything else because they feel the other DPS can't pull their weight. Or if you don't steamroll everything the first go they drop. And since I run healer with a FC tank, I know, yes know, its not us because we can get two new DPS and proceed to steamroll a dungeon till the end.

I have to say some of the people I've met via duty finder were phenominal and I wouldnt mind running an instance with them again.

It'd be nice to be able to queue up with someone you know from another server. I wonder if SE would consider a feature like a cross-world friend list that gives you the option of queuing up with people from that list.

Sorry for the delayed response in at work and my time to reply is limited. The gear I was rolling on was the STR DD gear and not the DEX or heavy armor, forget the name of the gear off the top if my head would look it up if I could. Inventory was not full as well. Just found it odd as it has never happened during a normal queue only the in progress one.

Was prob Peltast...if i remember right, you can't roll need on that stuff. Which is kind of weird since the pants at least are (imo) better for DRG than Hetarois

As a WAR I have encountered countless pieces of gear that are 100% upgrades for me, but the game won't let me need on it. I assume it wasn't heavy armor which is why I couldn't need for it, but it was annoying to watch a piece of gear that was an upgrade in every single way get vendored.

As a MONK I have joined AK and noticed that there are certain gear I cannot roll on but that's because there are certain sets for each class.

I totally agree with this. I've met some amazing people via the Duty Finder and am always disappointed that they aren't on my server. Sure there are some screwed up PUGS with that one player who simply will not listen to anything and ruins it for everyone, but in general I've had really good experiences with parties who genuinely want to learn and do well. It just takes someone who is willing to work with them and explain their role if they are new to the instance. Getting frustrated is silly. I've had party members who have rage quit after a single death on the first boss of a dungeon, then we have replaced that player and went on to clear the dungeon wipe free. Everyone makes mistakes and it's usually not because they are "a bad player", it's because they don't have a proper understanding of the mechanics of the encounter.
