I've done my best to answer PGL/MNK questions as they come up. I'm afraid the best I can do with LNC at this point is "stick them with the pointy end"

Thanks a bunch, that was my hope in posting here that someone who knew the answer would see it and respond.

I was amazed at the same thing, huge number of players and not much activity in the jobs/class forums.

I am really surprised by the Bard forums, I mean all I see is bard running around and it's a ghost town over there. Hopefully it picks up. I got used to the ZAM forums with XI, I sure hope it stays the top info source for XIV as well.

seems like they all ask the same thing:how to Unlock, and What Stat(s) are important.

I guess the majority of the XIV community isn't as forum savy.

I think a few things in this game will lead to this section of the forums not being used.

1) leveling is quick and easy. And due to this there is no need to worry about gear and party rolls or what skills to use and not to use.

2) side quest are very easy, and pretty much all jobs play the same on weak mobs. So no need to have in depth strats on quest nm or our other activities.

3) the game doesn't seem to start till 50 so maybe when more people get there they still care to lean more about there job.

4) no sense of danger in the open world

class forums are somewhat difficult to maintain population in this early in a game. It takes time to get a good set of percieved experts in there, and for people to see enough posts by them that they check regularily and recieve updates. It's kind of a chicken and egg thing initially. until some people take up residence and start decorating the place, there's no real reason to visit, but why visit if there is nothing there in the first place, etc. They'll get there eventually.

It's true. They appear to be very inactive actively! If that makes sense.

But you will see some of the posts in the class and job forums are definitely being read. People may just be a little shy at this stage or feel they do not need help.

Understandable. It doesn't require much thinking while leveling. You can get away with suboptimal rotations and such.

I have a feeling that as the majority of the population nears 50 and begins to do coils, you'll see a lot more theorycrafting in the job section.

^This. Although it makes sense to ask these sorts of question it is still easily answered and asked in general. I think when it comes down to it we are going to see more and more parser related posters getting into the nitty gritty details for maximum DPS potential. That's what happened in th ffxi forums. Makes sense it'll happen here.
