I think a better inventory sorting feature would be nice as well as a better way to compare gear with what you have equipped and what you are looking at in say the markets. Inventory is a mess right now but I am also trying to level up all crafts so it is somewhat expected.

This is my main request for now.

-wardrobe option (like rifts)
-dye all areas of gear not just primary color
-remove restriction so dungeon/green quality gear can be dyed
-more ui resizing options, small, med , large isnt enough, each element should be scaleable by %
-add more hot bars IF resizing is added
- seperation of food in MW dow/dom/dol.doh should be under seperate catagories
-ability to buy 1 out of a stack at MW
-account shared retainer
-combat still feels slow to me...idk any fix lol but wish it was more rapid.
-sprint ability for chocobos while mounted
:o)

edit: ability to break party group UI and have individual, moveable, sizeable bars for each pt member...(i just remembered that ) lol

Craft material storage akin to GW2. If you try to level Mining, Botany, and Fishing at once, you eventually won't have room on yourself and two retainers. And given the sheer volume you wind up producing to level these things, you will almost always have excess even if you did refine them into crafted goods. There are some exceptions like more frequently used materials for cloths, leather, etc., but I don't think I'll ever need 99 iron sand, but I'd hate to sell it just to suddenly need some later and have to buy someone else's 99 stack.

To take that one step further, I also love how the crafting mats are automatically pulled from storage and so there is no need to run around with a ton of random crafting mats in your inventory. They do limit you to crafting at specific stations scattered throughout the world, but I prefer their system hands-down to that of FFXIV (in regards to the material management).

In my limited XIV crafting experience, I seem to always forget one crucial mat or I have grabbed the wrong amount. At that point I either have to run back to my retainer or I just buy the item from an NPC/market board - depends on how lazy I'm feeling at that particular moment. I would love to be able to take that part of crafting out of the equation.

Yeah, pulling from that storage list slipped my mind. I could understand them not wanting that everywhere, but maybe if you're crafting at the place's specific guild (or other designated craft-friendly locales), it will automatically pull from storage.

As for endgame quality crafted gear, it seems to have been engrained into the MMO mindset that raid/dungeon must always be superior because "it took more people to do" or that the content is arbitrarily gated by timers or token caps. And even if there is decent craft gear, it requires drops from these locations, meaning they're probably staying within their groups as is. Personally, I disagree with the notion that there can't be alternative sources of high end gear, even if they try to sprinkle the BS on that somebody doesn't "need" such stuff to do open world content or whatever. Pushing that all aside and actually entertaining the option, synths could outright require HQ components and be tiered synths further requiring HQ output. Put in the proper difficulty range, it's unlikely the server will be flooded, but you'll still see them trickling into the market while people not in the dungeon/raid scene can gradually build toward getting these synths attempted or buying the finished product outright. SE could even go the extra mile and have unique materia come from these things so you'll want crafters continually trying to make them. Your casual players may never be tempted to convert, but the hardcores may sure give it a shot.

Would just be nice knowing I wouldn't have to sit in queue for an hour as a DPS just hope my party isn't garbage just to progress my character. For now, I focus running with friends, but our times don't always mesh up.

Ability to /tell, use FC functions, sea friend list, speak with friends, or do ANYTHING while I'm in DF.

It's maddening knowing I can't contact anyone or they me (or even see if I'm online if I'm not on their Flist) when I'm in DF.

As someone interested in leveling Carpenter, I'd like to be able to make furniture for the Free Company housing.

Speaking of FC housing, I hope they have a Company Chest in there, as well as everything else you'd find in an inn room (Comfy Bed, Summoning Bell, Armoire, even The Unending Journey).

They probably will do something like this. I foresee crp and gsm to be really useful once FC housing hits.

Do you mean, while you're waiting in a DF queue?

Would seem pretty messed up to lock you out of everything while simply waiting to be "called on".

This was what i was going to request.

I'd love to be able to use the "pc style" hotbars in addition to the crossbar while in controller mode, even if they need to be operated via keyboard/mouse.

Exactly. Also, the Mini-icon bar, the ability to dock multiple chat boxes on the screen (each with it's own chat filters), the on screen Gil Amount, and the Inventory Grid are all missing from PS3.

On PC, I have 3 chat bars on screen and they have different functions in battle. The chat box does not scroll because the enemy abilities and my attacks each have their own chat box on screen. At a glance I can see whats going on me vs. enemy, and still see chat. When the enemies start a big move I need to avoid, it does not scroll off the screen before I see it.

There is no reason I can see that PS3 users should not be able to put down the controller and just play on Mouse+Keyboard if they want to. The hardware works with PS3 just fine, but the software options are not identical.

Nah just when you're in a dungeon.

The server technically moves you to another set of servers once inside the DF hence why they limit your abilities. Still pretty lame. :X

I would love to see a few tweaks to companions:

-Let us have our companion out while we are waiting on DF runs
-Let people send us party invites even if we have the companion out at that time. Bird can auto-withdraw if accepted.
-This one may be iffy, but I would like for the companion to automatically disappear when I try to summon a mount. I can see people being upset at "wasting" a green if they clicked summoned their mount by accident or whatever the case may be. But greens are cheap, and anything that minimizes clicking make me happy!
-The ability to talk to NPCs while mounted.

ETA: Forgot this was for ideas you've seen from other games....sorrry!

You could talk to NPC's while mounted in RIFT, which was awesome. I wholly support that idea.

A "Crafting Chest" to go with your "Armory Chest" would also be primo!!

I would like to see the Zone name (i.e. Western Thanalan/Central Shroud, w/e) next to the outpost name in the Teleport list.

Open world party dynamic side quests. Just sprinkle them in there. Miss traipsing the countryside with likeminded players to achieve a group goal.

edit*

FATE locust mob mentality does not count.

I know this is only a petty suggestion... But I loved the fact you could type /playedtime on FFXI and see how many hours you've played the game, and also the occasional NPC spawn that tells you all your character stats.. Like how many times you've died.. How many mobs you've killed (I know you can see the mob one to a certain extent in achievements.) but that NPC in FFXI was cool ;D

I loved that NPC...

"Hey guys I have only died 82 times" "Yeah cause you haven't done dynamis yet"

one year later

"Mother******** guys I have died 81457 times"

FFXI was my jam

I really miss Weapon Skills and Skill Chains!

There was a wonderful sense of team work when conducting skill chains in FFXI. I would love to see them incorporated somehow in FFXIV.

Thissssssssss. . . I miss skillchains and magic bursts so bad. The teamwork required, especially with THF and ancient magic, was so fun. This mechanic was the highlight of that game in my opinion. The current Limit Break system is so 'meh' in comparison.

This is my first FF experience and I find the combat mechanics/skill system extremely basic and boring.

It's like they wanted something "bulletproof" so adopted a 10+ year old system or they wanted something that was easily mastered by children.

So, something akin to Rift's Instant Adventures? In practice, they're basically FATEs on demand. However, I would also like to see some kind of public party system within FATEs where clicking a button will join you up with others instead of shouting aimlessly hoping someone might invite.

I would love it if, when crafting a recipe, beside the NQ and HQ column for ingredients there was a third one for stock on your retainer. I don't know how many times I've bought goods at market only to later find the same goods (and even the HQ version) forgotten about on a retainer.

Also, on the teleport menu, please give me the area as well as the camp e.g Camp Horizon (Western Thanalan).

+1 on inventory sort. I'd also like inventory bags where you can group stuff, like Ore Bag, Bait Bag, Wood Bag. Not necessarily extra slots (though it would be nice and I think Fisherman should have an extra armory slot for bait), just some more order to inventory please.

The escape to clear chat bars - yep

I miss the Jeuno jingle bells. And taru-punting... there isn't enough lalafel-punting going on yet.

And BST... but only if stuff is charmable, not BST in its pale beyond comparison, jug pet toting, sheep attached to butt shadow of its former self.

And I really really want a crab minion of the CourierCarrie model (suggested this in shout a week or so back and got a screen full of "hell yeahs" in reply)

The single player games use a variety of different battle systems. Final Fantasy pretty much invented the Active Time Based system now widely used in other RPG games. They've gone experimental, with the turn based chess game of Tactics and Conditional Turn Based in Final Fantasy X (probably the slowest pace of any FF battle, but allowing for a lot more deep thought and strategy in every little battle, even against the trash mobs.)

You'd probably have hated Final Fantasy XI though. Auto-attack as your base damage and most of your job abilities on timers of 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, or 10 minutes. Tactical Points went to a max of 300 but at 100 you could execute a special attack. Spell cooldowns ranged from 5-10 seconds for low level spells up to a friggin minute or more for high level spells. Half the battle was waiting until the time was juuuuuuust right to do something.

For those of us coming from FFXI, the combat in XIV is kind of hectic and crazy in comparison.

I think personal housing should be able to accommodate the "craft from cache" request. I could see houses having "workshops" where you don't get rested bonus and you have access to all your mats, so you can just craft away in peace and quiet (that's one thing I hate about crafting anywhere in the cities, all hear is ffching, ffching, ffching, tap, knock, tap, grind, saw, ffching, ffching).
