Making trash mobs worth something doesn't mean people will wait around for you to watch cutscenes. The final two story dungeons take almost an hour and a half to finish while watching everything. I hated doing them with speed runners but if theyve been doing them a while i understand why they wanna skip cutscenes. Making trash mobs "useful" wont change that. Gotta be another solution.

Hell, i loved watching them! The more people complained, the more i enjoyed it!
Okay, we finished the final dungeon with only 2 minutes left but certainly not only because i watched the cuts...

But then again: don´t random when you want a speedrun, c´mon, that´s basic. Gather your people together or search for speedrun parties and at least that problem is gone.

BTT: I don´t mind speedruns. As many other said: i would care to kill every single enemy in every dungeon if they, at least, drop some mats or something at all. The way it is right now, doesn´t give me any reason to kill anything but the bosses.

I prefer killing over running around or doing quest. So I wouldn't mind seeing something like this.

What I don't want is the effect of this to lengthen total dungeons timers. I don't wanna spend three-six hours in a dungeon, FATES, Guildhest or doing anything else forced into long play sessions for that matter in a videogame.

My solution would be to create a few open world dungeons that do what Louiscool suggested about tome alternatives. Then players who like it can spend all day in a dungeon grinding.

This is probably a stupid question, but what's the rush anyway? I mean its not as though the game is going anywhere. Endgame will be Endgame, which is the "End". Then its all gear-grinding and stuff for prettiest armors at the top of food chain until new content is added, and then what? Race to the top again?

I just don't get why everyone is in a rush in the first place.

The thing is if you have to do something a hundred times you don't want to see the same cs a hundred times.and also why not cut a ton of time off so you can enjoy other content. I'll ask you this do you watch the opening movie from start to finish whenever you log on to play ffxiv? I did the first time logged in but now I skip it, I couldn't imagine watching that same opening movie every time I wanted to pay this game. That's how I feel about speed runs

That's why I don't have any friends and don't think that'll change anytime soon. I don't have "go to endgame immediately" in my plans, and going at my own pace. That being said, if you stagnant, no matter the reason, so will your social standing in an MMO. This is likely one of the reasons people rush, and also to keep up with their friends. And before you say "real friends wait for you", unfortunately endgame is notorious for changing some people.

There could possibly be that fear of being left behind and getting no help from others as well.

Either way, let them rush, who are we to tell others what to do with their accounts?

Because you need to earn 300 tomes of mythology each week or you are losing progress over those that do.

Honestly, I think the best approach to an instance when you first run it (i.e. you want to see cutscenes) is to just flat out state "guys, it's my first time, I'd like to see the cutscene, so if you wanna grab a snack or something feel free to."

Because anyone who is Q'ing up in DF looking for a speed run needs to check themselves. Yes, it's nice if everyone is on the same page. But you can set speed runs up server-side no problem, with everyone having the expectation that what you are doing is a speed run, not a story run.

I wouldn't be amiss to some more incentives to search out nooks and crannies of a dungeon however. More coffers, or an extra boss guarding a special treasure, that kind of thing. Instead of punishing people who don't finish every little thing, make them WANT to finish every little thing. Even if it's just another 5 or 10 Phil tomes per run (maybe tack on an extra 10 Myth tomes if you find all chests, or a coffer that has a chance to drop one of the rare crafting ingredients that you normally purchase via Phil tomes).
