Wonder if this extends to the ppl who are sabotaging titan pugs so they can sell runs for 250k. Hope they put an end to that.

Don't know what that has to do with anything. Those people are being ****** They aren't gil sellers, or hackers, or cheaters. Just ******

people aren't really doing this. its easy enough to sell runs without resorting to a ridiculous scheme like the one that was "exposed" on reddit. also, some are selling them for a lot more than 250k :/

All of those gil-buyers who got suspended recently will be crying about this.

Ha! I knew those people crying were guilty as hell

I hope this doesn't include those who were mistakenly suspended.

S-E's official stance is that no one was mistakenly suspended. If you got suspended, it's because you did something wrong, and them confiscating your gil is just them being gracious, instead of perma banning.

It's always hard to know who to believe when people say they're innocent but got banned. ON the one hand, people on the internet like to lie, and on the other hand, S-E has a track record of erring on the side of stupid when it comes to anything customer related.

Edit: Of course, you also have people like Shadowofdoubt who "knows" that because some one is accused or punished, they must be guilty.

Not yet.

When I say not yet, I am not talking about the current state of RMT in FFXI, but strictly by historical comparison.

367,700 million = 367.7 billion

Just to back this up, the original Japanese post read 3677å„„, where å„„=100 million. This is (maybe) why it's been translated in an awkward way. 367.7 billion is the correct figure, in any case. Also, depending on where you are in the world, billion (US trillion) = 10^12 rather than 10^9, and milliard (US billion) = 10 ^ 9, so that could be another reason it was translated awkwardly to the NA eye. After typing all that, million and billion look like ridiculous words.

I was wondering why the gil price shot up from 6 bucks per 10.8 million (random *** numbers, these gil sellers), to 250 bucks for 10.8, then down to 170 bucks for 10.8. I assumed demand shot up, but maybe their supply was kneecapped and they had to jack up the price to deliver.

156 + 568 accounts across all servers, including gilbuyers, gilsellers, hackers and bots. That's actually a tiny number.

- Date: Sep. 28, 2013
- Accounts receiving disciplinary action for RMT/illicit activities: 568 accounts
- Action Details: Termination/Temporary suspension from FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn
* Accounts of egregious violators will be terminated.

From the sounds of things, many offenders are getting away with a short suspension and confiscated gil (which probably cost them what, $10 for the gil purchase?). Many of them would have already spent the gil anyway.

I'm not very impressed.

I don't condone RMT buying or selling, but the rate at which the chat log fills with spam... can't help but lay some of the blame on SE. I almost had to laugh. I was watching a friend play and she couldn't see the names she was trying to blacklist because the chat log was flying by so fast.

700ish accounts responsible for 367 billion gil? Really? I'm not a math major, but that's over half a billion gil per account assuming it was(of course it wasn't) evenly spread out. Smiley: eek

Still, they managed to get that much in less than a month. Even on fresh economies. And that's probably including the 1-2 weeks it took them to get set up and to find whatever it is they do, and do it/automate it/make a bot for it.

Unless they're profiting from some HUGE gil exploit somewhere, they'll simply make that amount back with new characters in a week or two. What's stopping them, really? With the amount of automation, a single person can do this all with ease with a bunch of computers.

You have to be a little impressed with how well organized they are this time. And a little disappointed with SE for making the code of the game so easy to break and be altered. Almost makes you long back for the times where it took a super computer to even be able to play the game, and RMT would have had no way to even move around or do anything with a framerate of 1 per minute without some MASSIVE investments >.>

I wonder if we'll see casinos pop up. Those were awesome, and painfully addicting before Square squashed them in 200....5?

There was actually a duping exploit that SE issued a hotfix for. That was our maintenance yesterday.
