Leveling 44+Follow

Just a simple question..

I'm currently level 44 BLM and levelling has really slowed down. I'm not seeing hardly any quests, I'm up to but haven't done the Garuda fight. I don't really want to go in at the minimum level. FATES arent making this easier either. Is there something else I can do to speed this up? I'm probably missing a quest hub or something, but any advice is appreciated.

When I got to around that level I completed what I could of the hunting logs, also you could run dungeons for exp aswell as gear up to have reasonable stuff for the Garuda fight and future dungeons.

No you're right, there is a big gap for quests in the mid 40's. It opens up again back at the Walking sand from 47 onwards and then you'll start to see more side quests popping up as you do the Main Quest.

First things first, catch up on your main quest, that's going to bring in some EXP too.

After that do FATES and Spam dungeons. At 44 I think you've just unlocked Aurum Vale? The idea is to do those dungeons to get geared, and you'll pick up around 100K of EXP per run.

You can easily grind a lvl to 45 in Cerulean processing plant, that's one of the best spots 40-50.

After that do your job quest and get your first AF parts, that should prepare you pretty well for Garuda, after that the story takes you two a couple of places with more quests (up to lvl 47 if my memory serves me right) either way you will need some extra experience for the last 5 lvls, try to complete your Hunting log and come back to Cerulean processing plant as required.

hmm unfortunately some of the side quest are tie to the main quest (it means that the side quest will not appear if you have not done the main quest).

Couple options you could do:
1. Guildhest (first time give quite nice bonus)
2. Dungeon (queue time is a killer for DPS unfortunately)
3. Levelquest (I prefer to save the allowance for crafting level though)
4. FATE (unfortunately this is the fastest exp you can get)
5. Exploring new map (a bit of nice exp)
6. Class hunting log

Hopefully that help

Ya, like Kenage said, you can head to the Plant pretty early in Northern Thanalan. Been there as early as 40, though 42+ is generally recommended. Couple of the fates back to back can easily net you close to 200,000 exp in a short amount of time. They seem to occur frequently enough too.

Have you done your Hunting log? There is a ton of EXP waiting there for you.

I just finished 48-50 with Hunting Log. The final 40,000 EXP bonus for Rank 5 Hunting Log completion put me to 50.

The story quests will give you a steady 10,000+ EXP each.

If you haven't explored the last little bit of each area, go do that. At your level the completion bonus for exploring the last little piece of each map is around 20,000k. (With each individual bit of map being close to 2,000 EXP.)

Also, while finishing out the Story Quest you will be walking right next to a bunch of similarly leveled Fates. Don't find them, they will find you.

I did quite a few run's of Cutter's Cry around that level, and Aurum Vale. I ran those a few times from 45-50 and each one seemed to net almost a half of a level, around 150~200,000 EXP.

Queue for dungeons and Garuda and then work on Hunting Log!

I think you should queue for dungeons. While you're queued up, do the main story quests (unless they're dungeons also, in which case queue for them), do your hunting log and do any fates that you come across. In zones that you're doing all of that, make sure to explore it all. It just seems like they throw XP at you.

Exactly this.

I was kinda bummed when I didn't see that many quests around these levels, so I queued up a few more times for Dzemel Darkhold and Stone Vigil. I also completed my Hunting Log. Of course FATES were thrown in there too. I did leves, and GC leves but I usually would just mine while waiting in the queue. Leves, at least battle ones (and non GC) are really only good to do if you see a piece of gear you want, or if you really need gil. DoH and DoL leves are just way better. FATES are too good not to level with, especially with alts.

But compared to (Vanilla) WoW, I remember grinding out the last two levels. In ARR, it still is a bit of a grind, but there's so much more to do. And really, once you get to 49, there seem to be a bunch of quests that pop up, making getting from 49 to 50 pretty easy.

The fastest way to level is to do the FATES in Northern Thanalan. Except when some idiot decides to grief a group by killing the FATE. I found I didn't have much patience for levelling this way and could only do a level or so at a time before going slightly nuts.

A combo of quests/hunting logs, leves, FATES and story/side quests will get you there.

Now is that griefing or is that someone... you know... doing the fate? The idea that the way to do this fate is not to do the fate is a little odd don't you think?

I'd like to add that Dzemael Darkhold is a fun little dungeon also. It's a lvl 44 with some neat gear drops and tomes.
