I'm trying to meld materia to my sanguine scepter for my relic quest so I lvld alchemist to 20 just to find out I can't use that class to do the quest to meld materia into gear.

So I wondering which class would be fastest to 19 and also can only certain classes attach materia to their specific items of so does that! I should just lvl up goldsmith then?

Thank you for any responses and help.

Check your gear. Each Should have the lvl & type of crafter needed to meld something to it. Assuming I'm understanding what you're asking.

Only certain DoH can meld materia to a specific item/gear. For example most of accessory can only be meld by Goldsmith (you can check it in the item/gear itself, it will said need <specific DoH> <Lv??>.

So check your scepter and see what DoH class it needs and also for Relic quest to meld the weapon you need max level DoH (Level 50) not just lv19

Huh? As far as I know, only Cooking ***** the other name) cannot do the quest. Also, the scepter is from Goldsmith, so I'd assume that's the class you need to infuse it anyway. though not being on the game right now I couldn't tell you for sure.

Goldsmith is pretty cheap to level to 50. Once you hit 36 it is all about fire brands. Weaver is damn expensive, don't begin with that. Actually, get weaver to 15, then use careful synthesis on your gsm to help you out. Mythril ore and silver ore is cheap and the eyes of fire, water, ice, etc are really easy to make and cheap as well. Heck even electrum ore is cheap, relatively. You can almost always find at least one craft per 10 levels of gsm that requires only one type of mat to craft an item. This is opposed to weaver that most often requires 3 to 4 different types of mats per craft. I leveld gsm first to 50, and dont regret it.

Also to point out, you unlock the quest at lvl 19, but you need the specific DoH class that makes said item AT the level of the item to meld it. So if you're doing a relic quest, the base item being lvl 50, you'll need a lvl 50 GSM to meld it to your gear yourself. If you're rich in leves, you might be able to do 1-50 at a profit, but if not, expect to pay a bit. It might just be cheaper to find a GSM and request a meld from them and tip when you're done.

I have to say that I got pretty p'd off at the whole diremite web thing on weaver - and the leves don't always give you the webs.
trying to farm them is a nightmare!
They only put them on one mob?? How fun is that? ( reminds me of wild onions in FFXI)
Like RMT aren't going to be all over that in an instant - verified by the prices on the market board.
my weaver is 27 and I'm resorting to doing lower level leves to get it past the the velveteen thing.
I will only go and farm for velveteen items I need for myself .
Stuff standing in North Shroud for hours trying to camp one mob
whilst others are running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to kill the other few mobs.
Bad design in my opinion - never let an ingredient be too rare at lower levels.

Okay so I need to be max lvl of the DoH in order to even meld the materia to the scepter here is another question then. Can another person meld the materia into the scepter then sell it to others?

Yes you can ask other person to meld the materia (you don't have to trade the materials to that person), as far as I know you can right click the person and there is an option to "ask for meld" (note: that person need to be in his/her DoH job)

Ah nice thank you, since I'm on ps3 I'm guessing I would target them and use square for sub commands to ask for meld?

I don't play on PS3 so unfortunately I don't really know what button for that, but target the person and press which button to display an option (inspect people also in the option) should be correct.

Weaver was the fastest for me to get to 19. Leatherworker took the longest.

Blacksmith is ok, and when leveling that, you have to be prepared before hand to stay in limsa, so you don't burn money always traveling there for BSM business.

I am currently working on WVR (lvl33) and so far i can't see how people say it is costly to level. Granted, i am using BOT to gather up my mats but all I have done is go from moko grass > cotton bolls > diremite webs > flax.

The webs i had to farm with my 50 SCH. but honestly, at least on the Hyperion server, these are hardly ever camped entirely. 1 of the 3 good spawn spots is always open in north shroud.

It becomes really expensive after linen (~lvl 35). You almost have to use linen 3x leves to craft 35-50 because the next step up is wool. Wool is made from fleece. There is one area in the game that drops fleece, and only about 7-10 enemies in that area that spawn. And the drop is pretty uncommon (you get skin, meat, and fleece from the mobs, and the drop rate feels like 25%). But one more complication, there are 48 other farmers waiting on the spawn. And you dont get the item unless you get first tag. So bring your blm.

On Ultros, fleece is 600-700 gil a piece. You need two to make one wool thread, which sells for 2k-2.5k on Ultros. On the other hand, Flax is 3500-4k a stack of 99. So it is much cheaper to level with linen, but will still break you if you aren't BOT. But I got WVR to level 50 without a single level in BOT. It can be done, but that is why ppl say it is expensive.
