Q. You mentioned that in patch 2.1 there will be item level requirements for accessing content, but what will the requirement be for Crystal Tower?
A. We don’t plan on making it as high as the Binding Coil of Bahamut. We’re thinking about having a relic weapon be required.

So crystal tower is supposed to be more casual/easier than Coil but Se might make a relic requirement for crystal tower? So getting a relic is a casual task? Based on that Im gonna guess 90% of the lvl 50population has a relic. Guess theyre not even half as rare or powerful despite being the best weapons in ffxiv) as relic in that other game whos name i wont mention

So why do you continue to torment yourself with this game again?

It's Titan HM -> Crystal Tower -> Binding Coil, everyone knows that for a long long long time. Relic is easy to get, sure, you just need to beat Titan HM first then we talk.

Please stop treating XIV like it's XI.

Getting a relic in XIV is significantly easier than it is in XI... because they aren't the same game.

In XIV, it's expected that if you're progressing through endgame content, you'll get it. There's no equivalent to XI's relic weapons currently in XIV, not even relic+1 comes close to the time and resource commitment it took to pry a relic weapon out of XI's jaws.

Requiring a relic weapon for this game means simply: You've ground out some tomestones, you'll beaten the HM primals, you did a couple of quest fights.

Relic in XIV: Something you almost certainly get as you progress through normal endgame content.

Relic in XI: Town gear that proves to everyone on your server that you have no life.

Before you go getting all defensive, I own 3 of them from XI(two prior to dynamis adjustments). I have earned the right to call myself a no-lifer.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

You know, when FFXI first launched, those gimpy level-40-something artifact weapons were the best weapons in the game. And yet, plenty of people had them.
#8DuoMaxwellxx, Posted: Oct 08 2013 at 11:23 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) yeah except those 4 something weapons only required hitting 40 and doing one quest. While FFXIV relic isnt half as hard to obtain as FFXI was the requirements for FFXIV relic and +1 is surely enough to make SOME ppl say "nope not even gonna other trying to get that" and if that IS the case then i think its silly to make such a weapon required for a dungeon thats supposed to be more casual and less difficult than bahamuts coil
#9DuoMaxwellxx, Posted: Oct 08 2013 at 11:33 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) exactly and some ppl actually WANT that in their mmos. You would expect the most powerful weapons in game (according to the producer himself) would take a tad bit more effort to obtain

I hope it doesnt require relic. I have a tendency to level alot of jobs to fill roles needed (all mage jobs done). So as of right now i need 4 relics, and to me thats just a lot of leg work to get into what was to my understanding entery level endgame, after clearing story mode. As it stands now I have such a long way to go with just getting darklight gear for my current jobs. I dont want easy mode, but with all these gear requirements needed to do damn near anything outside reruning story dungeons a bajillion times is going to really suck, and is part of the reason I have pretty much avoided endgame thus far. It already is bad enough to see the community tearing itself apart over people not having certain gear, or weapons this imho will only make things worse.

Really, after going through the relic questline a second time for another job, it isn't a huge issue. People are calling in favors from FC mates and getting people who already have the gear/their relic to help out.

Where it hurts is DF. I still see DPS parsing under the tank trying to do Garuda. Once the ilevel is implemented for these primal fights, things should be a lot better.

Getting a relic weapon can seem daunting but it really is just something that you can get given that you learn boss mechanics and practice enough. Rev. Toll is FILLED with shouts for people doing any given section of the relic quest line.

Don't forget those with truly no life, the Mythic holders. Especially the pre-Alexandrite requirement drop ones...

More on topic, as Filth said, Relic here isn't like Relic in FFXI was, not even close. I remember pre-Dyn nerf how long it could take to actually gather currency to just get a stage one. Right now, servers have people running around with their Relic weapons already. The two aren't even comparable.

Yet another flamebait thread from the #1 creator of them. Serious Duo, either quit the game or quit the complaining. Rarely have you ever even hit something that's an actual issue.

It took me four years to get my relic horn in FFXI.

Four years.

how does relic hurt DF? are you saying everyone goes for relic first and thus are under geared doing whats required for relic (i.e garuda), because they wont spend their tomes on anything BUT relic first?
