so when attempting this last night we had a problem with our tank.. we couldn't even get passed the first two groups of enemies.. because the tank would take 250-270 dmg per hit and with 3-4 things hitting you that hard and your hp is 2000-3000 that means a pretty quick death... much faster than the m,age could heal. i asked if his equipment was broken/damaged but it wasnt and he was wearing u to date gear.. sooo any ides why he was getting hit so hard? I mean ive been stuck on bosses in dungeons but something is really wrong if you cant even make it TO a boss right? lol

I'll be progressing up to this point this week. As a healer, I hope it isn't 'normal' ><

I don't recall having any real trouble in any dungeon under 50 while leveling my whm, so I would assume that's DuoMaxwellxx having yet another problem progressing in a game that's "too easy". Smiley: nod

Also, unless they're totally sleep resistant, there should usually only be one mob ever attacking the tank.

i had no problems at all tanking this dungeon quite a few times, sounds like his gear was broken and he lied/didnt use cooldowns/bad healer

Actually there are quite a few mobs in there that are immune to sleep.

Duo, it sounds like the tank wasn't using his mitigation properly. That being said, there's a ton of "red circle" AoE in that dungeon; avoiding it should give the healer a chance to catch up.

Were you guys clearing the patrolling mobs?

The trash in this dungeon hit pretty hard and having a couple of Aevis (which are immune to sleep) join in the fray can really cause problems.

Actually this is quite common in this instance. If you dont have a blm for ae sleep, it can be very rough on the whm trying to sleep 2 adds and heal the tank. Without a sleeper, the tank really needs to be in full HQ/dungeon droped gear to have a decent chance. It took me like 5 tries when going through story to clear this simply because if the tank was under geared (all nq gear) then there was a 50% chance a pull would kill them with no sleeper.

Add in stuff like the fire traps that people like to stand / pull on and its over.

Ideally, you want a blm for the sleep in this instance, but its douable without it. You just need to change tactics.

With sleep:
Kill the immune to sleep mob first

Without sleeper:
Kill the lowest hp mobs first and with extreme prejudice. If you have a bard, consider haveing them kite and someone gravity it. Also, a whm can swift cast repose to lock down 1 of the mobs.

Its very easy to learn what can/cant be slept there.

I did this a few times last nigh.

What worked for me was using shield oath and lots of flash. Like, every three attacks, hit flash. That kept hate on me.

For damage mitigation, try hitting rampart or sentinel just as you pull. I find if your tank can survive the initial onslaught of a big pull, the rest of the fight usually goes ok.

Stone Vigil is tough as a healer, at least for your first go at it. As a WHM, Stoneskin was my best friend to help mitigate some of the damage. Otherwise, sleep and take out the dragon pats first.

I did an entire stone vigil run using regen and stoneskin only except for boss fights.

Not really MP efficient, but was amazing at avoiding cure hate.

Was great.

Needless to say, I was fairly bored.

your tank probably didnt realise the aevis that were patrolling were meant to be pulled and killed separately. when you have 4 to 6 mobs ganging upbagainst e tank he wont survive it, especially when aevis r extremely resistant to sleep (my blm friend slept them before.... but i wouldnt bother)
