My GLD is 21 and I have done a bunch of Satasha, Tam-Tara, and Copperbell from 15-21. Its pretty sweet to go in as a tank and take charge and set the pace, and basically "teach" some new players. Pull at a steady pace, mark targets, keep hate, explain the bosses and more often than not, people will tell you how great this run was. When or if they get a bad tank, they will realize it immediately. I'll give pointers too, but always politely and never condescendingly. It can make a huge difference in how they react, and may impact their decision to keep playing.

But that being said, the patch update will probably make dungeon queues much faster, so that may not be an issue anymore (That's the reason for the update as far as I know anyways)

I would be very surprised if the "put me in a random dungeon that's lacking people" feature makes it a non-issue. Ultimately, high seek times are due to the ratio of people playing DPS to the ratio of people playing tanks and healers. If the reward is good enough, you'll probably get a similar ratio of high level DPS who enter that queue as you do high level tanks and healers. It may reduce the time it takes first time players on DPS jobs progress through the story line. But lvl 50 DPS are likely still going to experience long queue times.

At least, I assume you are referring to the random dungeon reward feature, and not some other patch update.

Hell ya. And also for EXP!

I prefer dungeons to leveling in FATES, so that's what I do. Each dungeon gives about 1/2 (or more) your current level in EXP, assuming you are running the latest one that you unlocked.

I just run Toto-Rak 4~5 times, then Haukke Manor 4~5 times, etc. I just got past my 4~5 Cutter's Cry runs (lvl 38-41) and will be moving on to Stone Vigil on PLD.

I find leveling way more fun this way. I get to help parties that are have 3/4 members running the dungeon for the first time. Also, I always have the latest set of Aerethrial or Goshinite Gear to keep my character ahead of the curve.

Leveling in dungeons is without a doubt slower than running FATES, but IMO, running with random parties in dungeons is 10x the fun!

I enjoy the dungeons for many of the same reasons pointed out. However, I don't re run ones my main has out leveled. I am leveling my other dow/m exclusively in them though. This way I get to keep enjoying them, get gear that is useful, and keep mechanics fresh.

Not "just for fun", no, but when leveling multiple classes I find them entertaining enough to do for inferior exp. Maybe I just don't find FATE-grinding interesting enough for my tastes.

I mean, if you're not enjoying what you're doing why do it in the first place? But this is what MMORPG players do, the most mundane crap for the +1% better exp rate while complaining that they're "forced to do it". As if other people FATEing it up would affect your success with dungeon groups.

I do help my friends with the dungeon, in which case chitchatting and cracking jokes makes the runs entertaining. The social aspect is not to be overlooked in that sense. But the dungeons provide little more than a framework in which the social interaction takes place.

I prefer running dungeons over FATE grinding anyday, so I'm really happy about the 2.1 boost to dungeon experience. While I was leveling MRD/WAR, I was running every dungeon with the exception of Aurum Vale, where I finally caved and just rode the Northern Thanalan FATE train the rest of the way.

Few guys in my FC (including my husband) tend to prefer running dungeons with friends instead of fate grinding to exp jobs so I've gone into a couple of them with 'em recently. Kind of nice to go back through a dungeon that gave me a massive headache levelling up the first time and go straight through with no deaths decimating the entire place. Lots of the time though fates suit me more - when I'm at home and the kids are napping I don't want to do anything I can't drop at an instant if they wake up earlier than anticipated and the like.

I just love helping people out. My FC has a core group of very close in-game friends that we've carried through from FFXI and some over 10 years of playing together. We love getting newer players and helping them through the dungeons, to see the excitement and nerves in coming up to the Sastasha boss and not being sure what to expect. The heartfelt gratitude in someone who takes time out for them instead of worrying about their own betterment.

So yeah, I love running dungeons. Granted I shy away from my lvl 50 jobs, but I've had a goal of having a tank/dps/healer at lvl 50 so I can fill any role my FC needs for any run, so I have a lot of options to pull from at varying levels. I wish the xp was better, but that never stopped me from doing a run for a friend :)
