Development of patch 2.1 is well underway, and today we'd like to give you a glimpse of the new dungeon Pharos Sirius, as well as the hard mode incarnations Copperbell Mines and Haukke Manor!

  • Pharos Sirius

Screenshot

Off the shores of the Isles of Umbra, the sea is rife with hidden reefs and rocks, leading many a ship to a watery demise below her undulating waves. So it was that a lighthouse was constructed at the end of the Sixth Astral Era. For a time this structure would serve seafarers well, ensuring safe passage through the Navigator's waters. Fueled by an aether generator designed by Naldiq & Vymelli's, Pharos Sirius was the guiding light of Limsa.

The Calamity, however, would change everything. The lighthouse was destroyed in the wake of Bahamut's onslaught, and the surrounding area's aether would soon give way to a formation of corrupted crystal. While efforts to rebuild the lighthouse were impeded by these crystals, the peoples of Limsa would soon face a threat much more sinister.

Thought to be long since purged from La Noscea's shores, a siren has returned to the Isles of Umbra, making Pharos Sirius her nesting ground. Rumors are now made manifest as a supernatural infestation continues to spread across the isles. Once a shining beacon of hope for Lominsans, Pharos Sirius is now the dark dominion of the siren and her legion of undead minions.

Copperbell Mines (Hard)

Thanks to the valiant efforts of Eorzea's adventurers, the horrific hecatoncheires were purged from Copperbell Mines. Amajina & Sons Mineral Concern would waste no time in resuming efforts to expand the mines donward in an attempt to tap yet-undiscovered veins of valuable metal.
The dark depths of Copperbell Mines would reveal not precious ore, however, but a faction of the hecatoncheires clan yet to be expelled from the mines. Adventurers the realm over must band together once more to rid Copperbell Mines of these brutish barbarians once and for all.

Haukke Manor (Hard)

Horribly disfigured during the Calamity, Lady Amandine signed away her soul to reclaim her lost beauty.
Surrendering herself to creatures beyond the void, the lady would never again be seen beyond the walls of Haukke Manor.
Rumor has it the lady has been laid to rest by a band of adventurers, and the Wood Wailers have dispatched an elite unit of soldiers to investigate. Though determined to uncover the truth and expel any beasts who dare call Haukke Manor home, none have returned from its tainted grounds. Now, the Wailers make plans to send a second squad to infiltrate the voidsent villa.

Well that's cool. Seeing an average iLvl will be nice, as well as the HM dungeons.

I think possibly one of my favourite things in FFXIV are the quest names. I wonder what the Tome drops will be - I'd guess on par with WP?

Any word on the rewards for these? With those item requirements, the difficulty looks on par with Wanderer's Palace.

Seems like there will now be 5 options for dungeon farming tomes.

I'm looking forward to details on the Beast Tribe dailies and Treasure Hunting!

Haukke Manor is my favourite dungeon in the game...how freaking cool is it to battle through a haunted house??

I hope they do the HM with all the dungeons as well...or that the tomes for redoing dungeons at low level works well

Cant wait to dive into the new content, as it stands, grinding for Myth and waiting for Coil night is getting kind of old :)

Now if only SE could move away from 4 man at 50 we'd be set.

I'm looking forward to thes! I hope they drop some tomes so I have some more variety in my weekly farming! I want to do them just to do them and get gear but until the vanity system comes its all just inventory -1 for now.

I really should level up another character to experience the new content in the right order.

EDIT:

I hope they give trash mobs a chance of dropping Tomes... like make it so that killing all trash mobs yields an extra 10 tomes per run, and maybe make the boss drop a little less.

I'm excited to be able to do some of these earlier dungeons again though!

Most of us won't have variety though because we will burn through WP SR and collect as many tomes as we can, especially with the cap increase on them. The only time I EVER run anything other than WP is to help out FC mates and the like. I just don't see a lot of since in running AK etc. I mean I have experienced all the content, nothing is going to chance, why not get the most out of my time playing? ****, IMO speed runs are even more fun because now there is a new challenge, how low can we get the timer?

Well there are several advantages to running AK right now.

One, speed running AK lets other classes shine that aren't BLM or BRD. You don't really need AoE intensive classes in AK because you skip a lot of the trash. What makes AK fast is how geared your DPS classes are for the bosses. Frankly, a melee LB is most welcome.

Two, it's far less stressful on the healers and tanks than a WP run.

Three, the rewards are greater for AK. You earn more mythology and chances at gear that is higher ilevel if you don't already have it.

Where AK fails is its 'maximum' speed relative to WP. I think WP 'speed' run takes on average 17~23 minutes. A 'super fast speed' run takes around 13~15 minutes with a BLM and BRD. Doing it with people you regularly play with can be 8~12 minutes. AK, with average-geared DPS, takes around 23 minutes still. AK with super geared DPS takes around 20 minutes. AK FC runs usually are 15-17 minutes.

I just alternate between the two depending on my mood. DF groups for both are always very entertaining.

This is part of the reason i have slowed down gearing my classes. Sure i could have all dl on my jobs, and have dl sitting for the 2 that arent 50 yet, but that takes some of the fun out of it for me. I just hope the gear is good, and they are fun dungeons with interesting mechanics. I also hope they can not be speed ran like wp, god i hate doing that alot of times. Tho i dont see the zerg rushers running anything other than wp if its still the quickest, but it would give me some more dungeons to que for and thats always a +, and gear for other jobs is great.
