Well... it's an improvement over that live action/cg monstrosity from when the game released... not that that is saying much...
I feel like some of SE's TV ads are almost kind of abstract. This commercial reminds me of the commercial with the people on the bus drawing a big chocobo in the foggy windows.

Cringeworthy. This type of humorous video game commercial has been played out so many times and they didn't even do a good job it. It's like they had 48 hours to come up with a commercial idea and execute it, resulting in this half-baked commercial. The hairdos barely resemble the in-game versions, and they aren't outrageous enough to be funny to non-players.
Well... to be fair, it probably took them less than 48 hours to come up with the hairstyle. And here I thought that SE and XIV were only 'borrowing' their ideas from other MMOs....

I...kinda liked that commercial. Moved from reality to the fantasy of it all fairly well. Same thing might have helped this one too, maybe the guys all standing up from the barber chair dressed in game armor and heading out the door with their clubs, swords or bows. Might've I said...it was pretty lame.
Someone should mention to square how many games completely eclipse it in character customization even when just considering MMOs.(Although I am still shock square the first people to come up with customizable highlights on any hair style and have the highlights make sense.)
It would be like if they dedicated commercial only around the fact that you can change jobs on the same character.. Not so ground breaking guys.. Doesn't deserve it's own commercial.
Now if it's a commercial simply to be enjoyed by the fans for the lulz.. Then I would be totally behind this.
I do like how they had the magazine pictures have characters posing like models do in real life.
