Ok ok, so I've watched the 2.1 preview video a few times now and just caught something. I cannot tell if I'm just the world's worst Black Mage, or if the BLM running the new dungeon is just overflowing with aetheric energy at a level I've never seen before.

Why, do you ask?

I have never been able to get more than two floating fireballs to rotate my body, yet clearly (on this potato-quality screenshot), this BLM has three! Go to 5:20 on the video, I'll wait!

Screenshot

Is he just more magical than me? Am I just bad at BLM and didn't realize you could do this already?

OR... are there a few things in 2.1 that they aren't telling us... to possibly be revealed in Live Letter part 2!?!?

Screenshot

Seriously, though, can you already do this or am I just stupid?

I wouldn't at all be surprised if they are holding things back. Blizzard is famous for doing that in WoW patches. Heck, Blizzard makes changes and then doesn't even announce them in the patch notes. For a week after any WoW patch, people are searching for the "undocumented changes". I don't see why SE would be any different and give everything away before the patch even hits.

Or you could just be a bad BLM. Whichever is more plausible.

I bet they are updating the effects, for level 3 astral fire will have 3 floating balls of flame, and 3 blue balls for astral ice.

Yeah, it's most likely a nice graphical upgrade.

This reminds me of my high school precal class (Grade 12). Our teacher was this elderly Chinese woman who was fluent in Engrish. When we got to the probability unit she loved to use decks of cards, coin tosses, and jars full of differently coloured balls for examples. So one day she's making up a question on the spot, using coin flips and a jar full of blue and red balls as an example, and I **** you not says the following:

"If I have two blue balls, what is the probability of me getting head?"

Nearly died of laughter.

What is it with these kinds of stories being about calculus teachers? I went to an all boys Catholic high school. My calculus teacher senior year was an attractive young woman maybe 2 or 3 years out of college. One day in class she was leaning over one of my classmate's desks helping him with a problem, when she passed out and landed face first in his lap.

Now, who wants to talk about blue balls?

I'll Jump on the story time band wagon!

I use to work with an asain immigrant. She was very stubborn, and sometimes nasty. One day I said to her "Fyn, why are you so cold to me?" She responds to me with. "How do I get hot for you?"

XIV is a game that still needs a lot of tuning and adjustments that don't really have a visual representation that can be showcased in a video. Roulette is a good example. In the video it's got a caption, but the extent of what people walk away with is an "Oh, look... there's another button on the interface". Lots of things will definitely be felt in game, but don't make sense in a video.

That said, it was eleventy seven jizzilion times better than any of the recent commercials that SE put together.

Did it bother anyone else that the players being shown doing the new battle content were... well, really bad? Maybe people were eating up all the AoE and spells to make the screen look more shiny? Spell effects are already about 10 times bigger than they need to be though. Smiley: nod

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

I think in all promo videos they make the players just stand around because it looks "cooler" than running around like chickens dodging effects. Also, they probably were bad on purpose, to showcase Titan's new knock-off.
