Get on there and vote for XIV. 20 year old game beating a successful brand new one for reader's choice "game of the year" is just... silly. Smiley: oyvey

Vote for XIV before they cut off the voting rounds!

(Or vote for The Last of Us if you want.)

shouldn't a "game of the year" award only be for games released...during this year?

If everquest can be nominated, i'm gonna nominate perfect dark (the N64 one, not that abomination for xbox). best FPS ever made!

but yeah ffXIV needs support, so im gonna go vote for it.

Would assume an EQ expansion could qualify, but yeah, I'm more inclined to limit things to those released this year. Of course, I'm sure a certain someone might try to lawyer-monger that XIV is actually 3 years old, so...

Yeah in all reality, XIV is a 3 year old game, I cleared much of this game's mid and end-game content in 1.23 (Crafting, Cutter's Cry, Ifrit, Garuda, Moogles, Darkhold, Aurum Vale, Grand Company leves, Behest (original system), a castrum run) lol. Honestly though, given the depth they want to do with EQN, it makes sense the hype for EQ is still there since after all it was pretty much the MMO that originally brought the genre in a more noticable light and gave birth to XI eventually.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

If you read the rules real quick they mention so long as they had an expansion this year they can be nominated.

Considering how MMOs evolve, I think they should be in their own category and only require having the official servers up with continued updates.

Also as of right now(No offense to the admins) this contest looks like, "Which MMO that zam supports is most popular with their forum subscribers;" Then "Game of the year." Then again, maybe that's what they are going for? Hahaha I am tired, I set my alarm wrong, I am going back to bed.

Where does this nonsense come from about EQ being 20 years old? It released in '99. Even Ultima released in '97.

That said, while it could warrant an award for longevity it certainly couldn't be classed as game of the year.

I second Pong!

That said. I greatly enjoy(ed) FFXIV 2.0, it's a nice game for sure. But it certainly isn't the "game of the year".

It's starting to go the way of 1.0 again. Good start, but ruined due to ******** change after ******** change. From what i've read in the patch notes, some things have been changed so badly for no apparent reason that i'm just about ready to toss this game for whatever else i can find.

It doesn't deserve the GOTY award because it isn't GOTY. Not by a long shot. But it has massive potential.

Maybe next year.

I would argue that it wouldn't disqualify XIV as it is a re-release as a completely revamped game that ended and re-started subscriptions. I differentiate that from a patch or expansion.
