There's just so much in this..I don't even know where to start.

Wait yes I do:

Quote:
Virus:
When the effect of Virus expires, enemies will now be granted the effect Antibody, making them immune to the effects of Virus for 60 seconds.

Wow..

Quote:
When multiple characters are playing the same class/job in a party, the gauge for level 2 and level 3 limit breaks will now fill more slowly than before.

Haha so basically, "Stop stacking classes/jobs."

"Stop Stacking classes"

I severely hope SE changed the matching algorithm on duty finder then. My Relic clear for Titan was PLD, War, Bard, Bard, Bard, Bard, SCH (me.), WHM. Based on that, it means you'll be nerfed LB wise if you happen to get matched with multiple of one class.

There's a lot of pointless nerfs thrown in too, but eh, we've come full circle to the MMO design Yoshi wanted at least. I'm glad for the change to Selene though, so annoying when she sneaks in a Fey Glow at the wrong time after Fey Light.

Massive lines of text and one thing jumped out at me.

Quote:
Bonus EXP awarded for handing in HQ items for tradecraft leves has been decreased.

I hope it's not too bad of a nerf. I'm so close to maxing all DoH with 3/8 left to go.

not just virus that's getting a super nerf. summoners can't use thunder anymore either.

the dragoon and monk stuff is nice. paladin got a slight buff. WHM got nerfed, but I don't think anyone didn't see that coming.

some allagan stat changes...some people are either going to be happy or pissed off for this.

might have missed it but I didn't see anything regarding easy mode turn 2 being nerfed.

and HOLY #&$^ the prices for housing on my server.

I'm willing to bet that RMT are going to make a lot of money off the playerbase now with those FC Housing prices.

Yes this doesn't really bode well economically. Most of the FCs I've talked to this morning/afternoon have pretty much stated that the prices were beyond them for the first class plots. Reminds me a little of the Christmas of 2005 environment.

I also noticed the decreased exp for the HQ turnins. I also hope it isn't too severe...yet at the same time, I'm going to rush ALC to 50 now.

I'll be living in a shack in the Ul'dah ghettos if you need me.

Yes, this was pretty shocking to me..no pun intended. I don't know how SMNs will react. I was under the impression they were sitting pretty nicely when it came to DPS rankings.

Allagan changes were not good. The healer pants now are BiS for WHM instead of SCH. The Allagan boots are pretty much garbage now for BLMs (and SMNs perhaps) if you don't subscribe to the spell speed school.

DRG and MNK got a slight buff...less than I expected. Even more interesting is the BRD 'nerf' really wasn't that bad. I thought they said they were removing a CD but instead IR just got bumped down to 10% and so did blood for blood..yet not removed. Less I'm reading something wrong.

The rain of death nerf is expected given the virus nerf. They pretty much are telling us that the bosses are supposed to hit hard and there's not much you can do about it. Or, time your stuff better/maker better decisions.

Some things I've overlooked:

Quote:
The weekly limit for Allagan tomestones of mythology has been increased from 300 to 450.

Quote:
Brayflox's Longstop
The poison effect from Aiatar's attacks can now be removed using the item antidote.

Quote:
The cooldown penalty for abandoning a duty has been increased from 15 to 30 minutes.

Quote:
Players who are continuously inactive for 10 minutes* in a duty will now be automatically expelled.

Quote:
Rank 8 Action Expansion - Increase the maximum number of inactive and active company actions.

So not only do we get things like 10% increased exp to battle, crafting, and gathering, but we have the possibility of having two or more actions available at once? This sounds rather nice.

Quote:
n Control II Increases Control by 10. 7,000

Which potentially alleviates the need for having 340 control on certain 2 stars...very nice.

Quote:
Meat and Mead II Increases duration of food effects by ten minutes. 7,000

Very impressive!

Quote:

The Devaluation Timer
The price of a plot of land is set to be reduced 14% every six hours.

Example:
Small
- Starting Price: 8,000,000 gil
- 10 Days Later: 7,552,000 gil
- 15 Days Later: 7,328,000 gil
- 30 Days Later: 6,656,000 gil
- 90 Days Later: 3,698,000 gil
* The price will reduce a maximum of 360 times in 90 days and will will fall to half its starting price.
* From patch 2.2 onward, a free company will automatically relinquish its land if its estate is unused for a prolonged period of time.

Quote:
Each residential district is divided into a number of identical wards. Even if the plot of land you desire has already been purchased in a certain ward, it may still be available in another.

So...does this mean a first class ward will have, say, 5 plots of land on it per city?

Quote:
The following areas are now classified as sanctuaries:
Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks / Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks / New Gridania / Old Gridania / Ul'dah - Steps of Nald / Ul'dah - Steps of Thal

About time! Was tired of having to go to the inn just to acquire the rested bonus when I could port to Rev. Toll and log immediately.

Quote:
Potency has been reduced from 100 to 50, and the bind effect has been increased from 4 to 8 seconds. Can now be used by all Disciples of Magic.
* Only thaumaturge and black mage gain the effect of Umbral Ice.

:o I guess this was to help out in FATEs.

Quote:
Lustrate now 25% (was 20%)

So much SCH love!

Quote:
Players will no longer lose the effects of food items upon being incapacitated.

We knew this was coming..just nice to see it once again. :)
Additional summoning bells have been added near the market boards in each city-state.

The Add Member feature may now be used to recruit new members for trials and guildhests.
* Please be aware that you may join the trials where the battle is already taking place and is at its peak.

The teleport destination list now includes area names.
Oh and I don't know if everyone saw it, but here's a preview of Titan extreme (actual party playing instead of just showing off some of his moves).

Those housing prices just scream "Hey look at this new feature! Please don't use it yet..."

There are zero practical uses for housing at the moment. Retainers aren't being added until 2.2, don't think they even have aetheryte access yet, chocobo breeding is a future addition, so is airship building, so is gardening...

Any early adopters will just be spending tens to hundreds of millions of gil to place furniture.

Not too concerned until individual housing comes up anyway :)

They put a lot of work into this patch, well done!

Aside from housing the update seems quite lackluster for serious players (Actually, only super hardcore players could even afford housing if there is a floor on the price drop over time.). I'm not even that hardcore and I don't see much else to actually do other than possibly getting one piece of ilvl 80 gear a week from TCT. It might seem nice now but this patch won't have the longevity that release did, and that was getting old two months ago.

That being said it's good to see they finally fixed a lot of the quality of life issues with the UI and system that should have been that way from the start. The part of me that wants to play this game for more time likes some of the changes and additions, but the clear minded part of me realizes it most likely isn't worth it. At this point I think I would rather go back to running around aimlessly in FFXI.

My MNK might see a bit more action now! This is very welcomed. Bard also hasn't been hit nearly as hard as people thought they would. They'll still be required for all fights, even sometimes carrying 2 in a party.

I didn't know playing an hour a day and still managing to scrap up 15-20% of the cash needed made me super hardcore...

I guess I can't call myself casual anymore then.

The Greased Lightning change is pretty much the only thing that was slightly dissapointing. I thought everyone agreed that Greased Lighting's duration was what created the massive divide in MNK DPS output. Buffing damage gained through GL just feels kinda...meh.

-----------

The expected offical forums meltdown has begun. Lot of people seem to be mad about the loss of Thunder. A LOT of people are mad about the housing prices, but I do think most have forgotten that this is FC housing and not player housing. I'd expect player housing to be less expensive.

I get the same feeling, but it's problematic because of how the rest of the game works. Raising class and job levels can be done in a matter of days. Raising a craft can be done within a day. Raising enough money for a nice plot... 2/3? Smiley: cool

The inn room was good enough for me. Who am I kidding... it was a waste of time to travel back there just to logout Smiley: bah

I loved what I read about the coming WAR updates! Now all of you PLDs shall bow to us, and be reduced to cleaning our Bravuras and washing our dishes henceforth! Mwahahaha!

Jk, but really... as was stated above, this update seems like an actual expansion rather than a big update. Very much looking forward to this!

As much as SE is trying to present alternatives to FATE grinding, this alone make said FATE grinding a bit more attractive.

Hush, stop right there, otherwise people will come and start screaming at you with parses this and that about how MNK is already number 1 DPS, and that BRD is already weak sauce and those changes are totally unjustified.
