Faster way to avoid error 3102 after 90K?Follow

So I queue DR in progress, get a WAR and a SMN that seem to know what's up and are geared well... only problem is previous PT members didn't do so well on the final boss of Pharos. SMN leaves to re-queue as SCH since a DPS will likely pop in much faster than a healer. With 17 minutes left on the clock we had a chance.... BOOM DC with error 90K, and worse 5+ minutes to get back in because of 3102. Usually it's a minute or less for me to get back in, not this time when it mattered.

So is there a trick, like making another char on the same server and logging into it and then logging out and back in as your main? Or is there nothing to be done?

Just takes a moment for your character and connection to reset. Can be anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes, it's pretty random. Nothing that can be done to speed it up or to reset it. Logging in on another character (if it will even let you) wont bring your regular character back any sooner. It has no relevance to that. People who will tell you that it does could just as easily have waited a minute and they could have logged back in as well.

That said, it more sounds like the Duty Finder server crashed, happens a lot. My entire alliance in CT got thrown out from a 90k a couple times now. If this happened on a monday, the duty finder is really really taxed from everyone doing stuff after the reset. Or you could just have been stuck in another country's prime time.

Yep yep. This is what stacking all the resets on Monday does. You finally get your CT party to not kill the comets before meteor and BOOM, Behemoth casts 90000k error an the entire alliance.

I wonder if they have considered staggering resets throughout the week by Data center.

Hmm.

I don't think any of the tricks worked. In fact, I think the connections were just resetting on their own and people tricked themselves into thinking that creating characters or logging out and back into Lodestone was the fix. Before it was patched it could be ages before the server identified your character as disconnected, but 5 minutes is reasonable now.

I think this still happens in XI. If you disconnect without logout or shutdown and try to login, you get an error saying that the character is already connected. A friend of mine called me hyperventilating once because she thought someone had hacked her account. I told her that her moogle was doing indecent things with her mannequin, but that he'd only take a few minutes Smiley: sly

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.
