PS4 Early access questionFollow

So I currently have the PC collector's edition of the game, from what I've read this should give me early access on Friday, correct?

Also I've been reading about the transfer of the PS3 version (which I have) to the PS4. My only concern about this would be how this has to be done. Does it require a PS3 to complete or is it done on the PS4? I no longer have my PS3 since I upgraded, however I did keep my copy of the game for the PS3 just in case.

I was under the impression that the only way you can play your character from the PC version on the PS4 is by buying a copy of the game for PS4. However, if you already owned the PS3 version you can just sign in on the PS4 version. The game is "free to download" as far as I know, I have yet to check, and you just log in. Your account should know that you have the PS3 version therefore granting an upgrade to the PS4 version. I only own the PC version, but my girlfriend owns the PS3 version. When she gets home from work we're going to log her in on my PS4 and I'll see how it works then. But I would assume that is how it would work. Hope that helps.

You apply to upgrade your PS3 version to PS4 via Mog Station. You get early access by doing so.

Is this something they're adding on Friday? I don't see the option to do that anywhere on the Mog Station.

Hrm, looks like it does not start until the 11th(?). Some of these SE notices are cryptic =)

So is it just available for download right now? We can't access it until Friday?

So, if you do the free transfer from PS3 to PS4, can you buy another PS3 copy and get access back that way? PS3 version is cheaper than the PS4 version.

Yes, I know it states:
* Users who wish to play on both the PlayStation®3 and PlayStation®4 must purchase a separate copy of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn for the PlayStation®4.

My IT side says no, if I were I charge of this upgrade process, I'd flag PS3 accounts as 'upgraded' and not just convert them to standard PS4 accounts to prevent this. But I'm not in charge lol

If you have the PS3 version, you can upgrade to the PS4 version for free. However, once upgraded, the key to the PS3 version becomes invalid making you buy a new one.

Now you may be asking: "Why did Square-Enix do this?" It arises out of an obscure Japanese consumer law, at least that was what was stated in one of the recent Yoshida 2.2 interviews.

Any confirmation as to whether the client is downloadable now? I'd love to preload it on my brand spanking new 1.5Mbps connection.

Which do you think SE wants you to buy, the cheaper or more expensive version? I'm 99% positive that it is worded to work exactly like it says. They want you to use the transfer program due to the licensing issues they worked out with Sony, in addition to making more money. Also, it's very obvious given Yoshi's comments that they want to move away from PS3 as soon as possible which would be great for the game.
