I must say while the graphics are better than PS3, they still dont look as good as they do in the PS4 FFXIV launch trailer, and nowhere CLOSE to as good as on my laptop.

But my only annoyances with the PS4 version is using the touchpad as a mouse, and having to press it to serve the same function as what pressing select would have done on PS3 (as such Im always accidentally hitting Share in place of select instead of pressing the touchpad). But i bought a wireless mouse and keyboard combo for 12 bucks.. lets hope it works. thus itll solve that problem/

Also is he PS4 version in REAL 1080p? I asked because my PC version is in 1080p and on PS4 I zoomed out the UI enough so that the icons and mini map are as small as they look by default on my PC. but theres one thing I cant change (hence my 1080p question) that menu that pops up when you press start (the one that lets you go to social lists, hunting log, log out, exit, duty finder etc etc) on my laptop its small and looks normal. On my PS4 it take sup the WHOLE screen (just like the PS3 version) and I see no way to make it smaller. Also how for I increase the mouse speed? I can change sensitivity but it seems to do nothing about how slow the pointer moves across the screen relative to how fast I move the mouse (wasnt a problem on pc).

The other PS4 issue is the hotbar icons and the picture in general is all bright and washed out looking like the screen has constant glare on it, whereas on PC its darker and looks better. Any way to change the brightness cause I dont see it (changing gamma does nothing). And yes Im using the exact same display for my PS4 as i use for my laptop so its not my monitor/tv

You can adjust Gamma I believe in System Settings. Least you could on PS3, that helped me with my PS3 wash out too.

Different inputs may not display similarly on the same monitor. You may have to adjust the settings on your display when swapping between the PS4 and laptop.

Mine looks pretty incredible. So maybe once you get it dialed in you'll be more pleased with it.

My start menu for lack of a better term has always pretty much spread across the screen so idk that you can adjust that. If you can it's in the HUD settings.

Yes, it's in full 1080p. It was stated that the UI by default is zoomed in to a certain degree to maintain similar UI size as the PS3 variant. This was done intentionally. The only differences I see are the shadows aren't cascading as cleanly and the draw distance is shorter. Other than that, the frame rates have been absolutely solid and the experience has been very PC-like for me.

well as i said i fixed the zoom in problem but theres still the menu (start screen menu) that cant be zoomed out). Also draw distance shorter? that sucks lol I remember when playing on PC I coud see enemies that PS3 players didnt see until they wer standing practically on top of it. I hope PS4 wont be like that (well i know it wont be THAT bad but still gonna suck that Ill have to get closer to see things other ppl would see far away)
#7 Apr 13 2014 at 12:37 AM Rating: Excellent
Oh no no. Most certainly nowhere near that bad. To give you an example, on the PC when I'm standing at Summerford Farms I can look off into the distance and all the terrain is drawn to the coast. On the PS4 the very edge of the terrain is shadowed out instead of drawn. Enemies are still completely visible within the draw distance.

Possible solution if the touch pad bothers you (it did for me), is somewhere in the options is a couple settings where you can disable the touch pad mouse altogether so you aren't accidentally setting it off. PS4 touch pad also has a function where it splits the pad in half down the center, and I believe on default setting if you hit the right pad, it's like your hitting right+select, and will toggle backwards through your available select targets. (I'm sure our HUD's are different) On the PS3 when you would hit select, it would target to the chat, then to the duty finder, then on wards clockwise around the screen, which is what the left pad will do when you hit it. You can change a setting in there to not allow that function, and at that point, without the touch mouse and the half and half, the touch pad becomes an over sized select button, which for me works just as the PS3 did.

But the laptop costs 3x more than a PS4.

First where does it display FPS, easy to find on my laptop..

I have been pretty critical of the PS3 because I play on the laptop and Tesee plays on the PS3 right next to me so I saw the problems pretty easily. If you did not play the PS3 next to someone on a PC you probably did not know how bad it really was.

Well this weekend I switched Tes over to the PS4.

I play on a mid-range laptop just for comparison..

I am very impressed with the PS4 and it is leaps above what my laptop is doing which is leaps above the PS3..

The PS3 was always blurry.. I think that is the major difference, the PS4 is crystal clear and bright with beautiful colors and reflections.

It shows shadows on everything, It shows physics like wind on other people cloths and hair.. It has breast physics. It even has reflections on trees that are not seen on my laptop. She also is running now with all affects on..

Draw in distance is the same as my laptop and so are load times.

I would like to see the frame rates though..

She also is having problems with the touch-pad thingy.. I am going to add a mouse anyway and disable the function...

Overall it is impressive and seems to be running pretty close to a high end pc..

If you had any doubts dont.. Buy a PS4 it will make a huge difference.

PS3 still get some good money too on ebay...Sell your PS3 to help pay for it...

Just in...PS4 demolishes all sales records in the 18-40 male demographic...

Just got my ps4 yesterday, but didn't really have time to play much with it.

Gonna dive in more tonight, though. Need to resize my HUD a bit and play with the gamma a little, but so far, it looks really good! Nice and smooth. Gonna start running dungeons while on the ps4 so I can get fully accustomed to the hotbar setup. I really believe that once I get used to using abilities on the gamepad that the ps4 will be superior to the PC (for me, at least) for dodge-heavy fights like Titan EX. For me, nothing beats a gamepad for ease and quickness of movement.

I've tried getting used to the keyboard for this game and just haven't become comfortable with it. The controller, in my opinion, does just as good of a job. Especially once you setup proper short cuts. Another thing I'd recommend, change the analog camera speed, mostly for fights like Leviathan and what not where you need to swing that camera around at a decent pace to see where certain things are coming from.

Omg it was so funny we were camping this fate for the 1 st book for my relic late last night and was just looking at the differences between the PC and PS4. She turned her character and walked towards the camera on the PS4 and there I saw it, her characters breast were moving as she turned and walked... Could not stop laughing and now she is angry at me because that all she notices now... LOL

The only other game seen that in is the dead or alive series. In that game they are way over done.

Finally did a dungeon run last night on my shiny new PS4, and all I've got to say is...

WOW.

Night-and-day difference from the ps3. Soooooooo much better.

The picture is clear, colorful and amazingly crisp. Animations are silky smooth. The dungeon and mob detail looked great on my big-screen TV, and the new Dualshock is a great improvement over the ps3 controller. I seemed to have absolutely zero lag. The graphics had great depth of field, which was my biggest problem with the ps3 version.

Props, SE! I'm looking forward to the next time I can plop down on the couch and play for awhile.

My only gripe with the controller so far are the R2 and L2 buttons. They stick out sort of and seem like they should bend the other way maybe?

Do T2 enrage on your ps and tell me the results... I had lag spikes in EVERY fight and fight ADS while enraged makes my PS4 fan get so loud it actually scares me (id hate for a console to die before its even a year old)

lemme know if you have the same problems

A lot of the lag that I've noticed from the last few days is due to the PS4 players glutting out the servers. Not just the DF servers but the main game servers.

That's affecting me on a top class PC right now and it's driving me insane. Trying to heal Brayflox HM with 5-10 second lag spikes every minute was painful.

I'm even on a wireless connection at home and I get nearly 0 lag on PS4. Makes me a better player, most definitely. On Sunday night, for the first time on PS4, I got a significant amount of lag in titan ex. Think it was an instance server issue. It was happening for everyone. Still, even at my worst I can employ the old "cut a 90 degree turn out of plumes" and I'm golden.

Well last night the lag was horrible everywhere.. I watched a tank just jump around last night.. Hey the reset moved to Tuesday on some stuff now now that when the lag is.. I was on the PC so I doubt it was the PS4...
Again get the needed capacity SE......

Tess did Titan HM the other day on the PS4 and she did the best ever... She said it was soooo much easier...

oh and speaking of T4, my lag on PS4 in T1 only happened on one occasion other than that it was fine ( i even made videos) I tried to do a T4 DF (we failed miserably) on PS4 last night and it ran just fine with no lag, so so far then it seems its only in T2, so while it COULD be the T2 servers then wed have to ask if it is the T2 servers why arent PC players (or everyone else doing T2 in general) having the same problem?
