What do you if your free company disbands?Follow

I have been with the same free company since the start. They recently disbanded because of disagrements between. How do you search for a good free company?

What server are you on?

Look for parties in PF, shouts in shout channel, and add people to your friends list... you'll find people who you get along with... don't be afraid to ask for an invite :)

A group of us in my FC just moved to a larger FC... we wanted a more active endgame group, while others in the FC wanted a much more casual vibe.

Something that really helped me out... when you click on a player, you get a list of options such as invite to party, examine, add to friend list, etc... one of the options is "view free company profile." You can click on this to see that FC's slogan, whether they're recruiting, if they have housing, who the leader is and how many people in that FC are currently online. Many FCs also list their Websites in their FC profiles, allowing you to go online and find even more info.

I play in PST, so finding a FC with a strong late-night core was very important to me. After finding a few free companies that looked interesting, I checked profile info from their members over the course of a week or so, giving me a much better idea of which FCs had more stable membership.

I'm now in a great, extremely active FC that does all endgame events, and I cleared T4 on my second day of membership. Smiley: smile

Happy hunting!

Mine on Ultros disbanded due to internal disagreements (not involving me), so I took my junk and experience and moved over to a different server (Lamia) that my longest running online friend was on (~11 years). I had been trying to convince him to come over to Ultros, but I decided to just jump ship and swim over. When I got there I was pleasantly surprised to see another familiar face, a friend of ours who started FFXI on the XBOX with us way back when in 2006 on the same day. We got together and made our own FC. I passed on all my useless coil, BiS, and primal knowledge and now those guys are better than me. Smiley: grin

Soon after our formation, Catwho's FC leader abandoned ship (before the option was had to swap leaders due to inactivity) and we decided on a merge, effectively doubling our size. Fast forward a few months and we have 17 good, active members, are nearly rank 8, and have a small FC house right on the beach a few steps from the auction board and summoning bell. Not too bad.

So my solution: find a few good friends, and make your own FC.

I think that profile also has some broad categories that describe the FC, which the FC leader either turns on or off. It's stuff like casual, we do raids, hardcore, recruiting DoL, etc.

We maxed out Rank 8 actually. Smiley: laugh We're done until they give us more ranks!

As someone who welcomes new members into our FC but doesn't actively recruit, I love times when you're using PF and get a chance to chat a bit, have a good time, and someone makes a comment that they're looking for a good FC/LS to hang out with. Don't be shy about it if you feel you'd like to give a FC a try. Nothing says you have to stay there.

Sometimes those PF story dungeon groups are FC folks looking for a 3rd or 4th and may end up opening up an "in" as well.

Good luck!
