So far I'm hearing that the 4th Chest (the one that weekly the lockout does not apply to) will only drop:
Wind-up Onion Knight
Throne Gem

If anyone can confirm that the 4th chest drops Sands or Oil, that would be a game changer.

Patch has been out less than 24 hours and people are already complaining that everyone is not an expert at the new dungeons.

New crafting and gathering tool is ilvl75. Get them from Talon in Mor Dhona, listed under 'more items(DOH)' They did mix the two up. Gathering tools are listed under 'more items(doh) and crafting tools listed under 'more items(dol)'

All tools need 10 demimateria and 3 mastercraft demimateria.

They do not, it's only the minion and crafting mat, or so I've been led to believe.

I'm a little bit confused. They said they would only be adding UAT to CT2 for the time being, yet we have Sands and Oils in there, and no sign of UAT.

Edit: seems UAT might come from the fourth chest...and I'm finding it hard to see any confirmed reports of Sands dropping.

So we're playing an MMO then?

This is always one of the most comical aspects of patch day. To date the best example of this I've seen was in WoW when Ruby Sanctum was released at the end of Wrath of the Lich King.. on patch day.. shouts for groups to do it.. requiring the achievement. Somehow that happened.

I tanked all three dungeons last night. Super fun. Done with DF parties. I started each run with the phrase, "Hello." And then, "First time here, just read a guide so here we go."

I had read some simple text guides for the boss mechanics. Took about 2 minutes to search for them and read.

Tam-Tara: http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/2a5wy2/tamtara_hm_tipsboss_guide/

Hullbreaker: http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/2a5zka/hullbreaker_isle_tipsboss_guide/

Stone Vigil: http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/2a5q9f/stone_vigil_hm_tipsboss_guide/

Just a couple tips needed to be relayed for each boss fight.

Some of the mechanics are fun, some less so. One thing for sure, the art in the new dungeons is top notch!

----

On a different note, has anyone come up with a strategy for finding Elite mobs faster? It really doesn't seem to be fun to search the whole zone for 20 minutes or more, finally have it pop only to be dead before you get there. Ouch.

So far I enjoy it... My only gripe is with Cid when a certain door opens.... OMG you opened the door... But let's go back to camp and discuss it. Would have been nice for everyone to step inside and decide it's too dangerous without a group of adventurers or something.

TOOOOOOOOO BE FAIR....

It takes less than a few hours to get the new dungeons down, CT included. But to be masters? Yeah that is a bit much, but people still going in running like a headless chicken shouldn't be happening at this point, especially since it's likely you'll run into people who've been doing em since 220 am yesterday.

Otherwise, the content will die out quickly like normal unless one of the new dungeons is the new tome source like mythflox. Sidenote: Demimateria is the bane of my existence...especially the primal ones.....

I saw in PF yesterday morning, Ramuh Extreme, must have multiple wins. Of course, the guy was sitting there alone, in PF for a few hours. This is essentially why I've avoided end game in the last 2 months and it's been fantastic. Really no need for this stuff anyways if you're not running Coil short of speeding up dungeons and other random fights.

Yeah those are always funny. While true, Ramuh Extreme is easy as ****, expecting that this soon is silly, it's still mechanic driven and most people still need to even beat Moogle/Leviathan.

It drops the minion, Oil of Time, and Unidentified Allagan Tomestone.

Sands doesn't drop currently (per their statement it's coming later as well as Lodestone drop information).

You are saying that the bonus chest, the one not on weekly lockout, drops the Oil and UAT?

That is different then the regular 4th Boss Chest Thayos is talking about I think.

UAT/Oil counts to weekly lockout, Minion does not.

Ah no, sorry. Didn't see the 4th part -- that's minion and crafting only you're right.

Just a lot of people keep claiming "It can drop Sands!" when it can't, and the only way to get them is through Hunts and Turn 8/9 currently.

The first time I cleared ST we had two things to lot on at the end - a piece of gear, and an oil. The second time we had a piece of gear, and a UAT. This leads me to believe that the oils and the UAT can definitely be found in the fourth chest.

Hmm, so two chests at fourth boss. Gear and Oil / Gear and UAT.

Even though the patch description indicates otherwise, I would guess that lotting the Oil or UAT does count toward the weekly lockout.

That is an important distinction to make. If the Oils are not on weekly lockout that is significant.

They do.

The game explicitly tells you that you can only win one piece of gear *OR* gear enhancing item per week currently in ST at the moment. More than likely they'll remove the restriction come 2.4 (like they did in 2.2) but for now thems the breaks.

EDIT: The 3rd chest is what drops the "gear" set -- gear, UAT, or Oil. It can drop just gear, or two items, or all three. It's a variable chest just like Leviathan Extreme was (weapon, shield, shield, mirror, furniture, mount as all possible drops).

If you're really lucky you'll see 4/5 items if the 4th chest spawns.

Im glad Im not the only one disappointed by that cutscene. I haven't been impressed by the story cutscenes for a while now with exception to Hildebrand's series.

Yeah to play devil's advocate to "it only takes a few hours to unlock everything" not everyone can play the game every day of the week. Even hardcore folks would have trouble getting much done on patch day if they were on vacation in Europe with the family. (Xtreme-cores would make sure not to schedule such a vacation around patch day to begin with and/or would cancel the plane tickets.)

I'll get the patch downloaded tonight and hopefully start unlocking things afterward. I can't even RDC into the desktop to kick it off though since I never configured wake-on-LAN for it. Smiley: bah

One of the few times I used the add-on that allows you to link achievements you don't yet have.

Funny thing is, this happens in every MMO. You still see shouts in XI for people who want 4 song bards or aegis/ochain paladins. I usually just say something like "You need to get carried by a relic paladin and bard? Through content that's been out a few weeks already?".

Everyone wants players in their group with gear and experience, but most of us have senses that can be appealed to. I still shout for an over the top DD or support, but if someone replies and seems to have taken the time to equip themselves with encounter knowledge, I let it rock.

It's like applying to a job these days, you find something that is on the level of A and you have A, and some experience even in B, but they are looking for someone who has A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and I, with a great preference for J, K, L and M as well. With super human strength (X), world-class intelligence (Y), never making a single mistake (Z) and if you have x-ray vision to go along with it they'll take it.

But end of the day, the job is just gonna go to someone who has A since their vision of a person does not exist. Or much like XIV, people lie that they are and get taken/kicked not long after, but get some valuable experience that way.

Funny enough, the aspect of "It requires experience but in order to get that experience you need to actually be allowed to do it first" also is true for XIV.
