Thought I would set up a thread so anyone who is interested in gearing their retainers to 80 and sending them on field exploration XIV ventures would know what they are in for. I do not have tracking for gathering classes since I've pretty much given up on trying to gear past fully melded level 50 gear. I've started tracking my marauder and arcanist retainers since hour 1 of the patch, so here goes...

I've not seen a reason thus far to stop doing Quick Ventures instead of these.
I'm sure there's one or two amazing(ly expensive) items available from it, but seeing as what a trivial feat it is for someone to get their npc from 70 to 80 (basicly give them your old i90 accessories that you replaced with i100), the price of whatever it is is going to be driven into the ground and stomped on by angry Roegadyns within a week.
Unless they bring back Sands of Time, Oils of Time and/or Unidentified Allegan Tomes, it's basicly completely useless once again :/ Heck, for money purposes, you get a bigger return on the rubbish furniture they bring back from Quicks.
edit: You'd think if i managed to type "Roegadyns" correctly this early in the morning, i'd be able to type "by" and not "my, but oh well...

glad you got the Mossy's, the skins/meats were depressing. Hell, one came back with a single sack of (I forget what currency but it's only 25 gil). I felt I was wasting my ventures and my time, but I'll keep plugging away with my DoW and do quicks with my DoL

With all the coeurlskin dropping, I'm willing to bet that waterproof cotton and mist silk also drops, but I have to keep going to find out. Already found out that sea breeze halter and bottom drops from culinarian desynthing the big two star fish, and that the unhidden leather maps drops mist silk and polarized glass. I'm betting that something good drops, I just haven't found it yet.

Well, sadly on that same note, i got a mossy staff just once in 3 weeks of exploration ventures >.> Opposed to the constant stream of Furniture (and fishes...) from Quicks being the more worthwhile alternative for me. But like you said, all random, values differ for everyone :)

I've been getting Warwolf gear and weapons and Topazes and Rubies from Quick ventures lately.

For me its all profit, because my marauder and archanist retainers are all I run through XIV. The miner and botanist I use for quick ventures. I have an ilvl 95 tank and ilvl 99 black mage, so I just gave my retainers all my old allagan stuff.
Update: 7/21/14. The drop rates on rare items are really low with these new ventures.

I have a miner that can do the highest retainer hunts. Spent a whole lotta gil to get her over melded. I bet near a million. I did not keep track but I know it was well over 700k.
If I had sold the cart minion, which is around 2million gil or 2.5 I would have made profit... but I liked the guy so much I ended up using it. So I am still under.

I haven't seen it mentioned from anyone else, but I have gotten exactly 1 mist silk, and Floss silk from my my retainers so far (Different Days).
I have gotten ~6 different Mossy stones (different weapons), and I was able to get the key ingredient to the Thavnavian Summoner book as well from the XIVs.
I haven't seen the minion, but I will now wait patiently for it to show up:).

They were from the XIVs. It was funny because I got the Floss silk the day after my Mist Silk sold... So I ended up buying another Mist Silk so I could craft the Sleepy cap.

Forget the name of the skin, but my DoW brought back a single NQ skin that sells for 20k+ on Ultros. I think it was some type of saur skin, but I won't be able to confirm until the next time I log in. It was from a XIV venture.
