Welcome Back Campaign DelayedFollow

Posted on the OFs, but this weekend's "Welcome Back" campaign has been delayed... more details to come.

I wonder why they pushed it back, especially with Naul the new content added?

This, paired with "The Future of FFXIV" in the next live Letter... has me a little concerned.

Dear Playerbase,
Please excuse the campaign for being late. It was kidnapped by
the jet set and left tied up on a lawn in Limsa Lominsa.
                                                                  Signed,

My guess is that with the servers taking a battering they'd rather not add more stress.

Same thought here... Queue times for DPS have been at their highest since relaunch. Had a 45 min wait for the new dungeons and it ended up being almost an hour. I thought for sure I'd get an IP join having been in the queue that long, but nope. Hopefully this weekend queues drop a bit more, or once I'm caught up on new content I'll just go back to grinding my other classes for a bit :)

I'll go with server stress too. I actually had a queue to log on yesterday (not a long one, but a queue nonetheless). Also, if you look at character creation restrictions, they're still in place for quite a few servers. Welcome back! But you can only play here...and here...not here..maybe over here.

Coinciding a campaign with patch release is good for returning players content wise. On the other hand, the way updates have been handled, you get an influx of people who were taking a break but still paying. So probably best to wait until the patch has been out a couple weeks and things have settled down a bit.

Naw. "The future of FFXIV" could also be "we decided not to do formal expansions and just do informal DLC content" or some ****. The mini expansions in FFXI followed that pattern. $10 for three zones, woo.

Either of those would be enough for me to seriously consider cancelling my sub.

The live letter will be right at about the game's one-year mark, so I think it's literally going to be information about the future of the game. As in, "it's been a great year, and here are some of the things we have planned for the next year." We already know an expansion is planned (and will be announced this fall), and I highly, highly doubt they'd have given us that info if they were actually planning mini DLCs instead. I'm not reading too much into the wording here. In fact, I'm looking forward to the Live Letter, and I'm expecting Yoshi-P to give us a peak at what's behind the curtain.
