First patch weekend. What are the plans?

Mine:

1. Frontlines unitl i get 6000 more wolf marks so I could buy the paladin or bard chest armor to glamour for sh*ts and giggles. Continue to wreck shop towards the horse mount. Go Immortal Flames!? Smiley: dubious
2. Stack myth to buy maps. Run daily quest (do an extreme roulette!) to get a map. Beg friends to help with said maps. Get alexandrite from maps. Use alexandrite and material to fill sphere scroll. Repeat. Do some fates with the animus to speed up the process. Smiley: cool
3. Got my oil from CT this week so no more until next week. Smiley: cool
4. Continue desynthesizing all the things. I really want the title Valk Ayree "The Dissassembler". Right now, cooking, armorer, blacksmith, and leatherworker are all around 55-60. With my last 60 I will up weaver. To get to 100 in any one thing is nearly impossible, especially when you consider that the stats drop as you level other desynths. So versatility is the name of the game for me. As of now, I can desynth anything that is level 50 or lower (in my chosen categories) with about 70% minimum accuracy. ilvl 60 items are at 50% for me. But all I need is lvl 40-50 items to get the 10 level 1 desynth crafting materia I need to make the new coeurl fur underwear all the guys who play female mithra want to spend 2 million gil on. Smiley: blush
5. Maybe join a roving hunt group. Wasn't one of those lucky folks who found himself in a hunt linkshell. Smiley: frown
6. Still no aspirations for second coil or Ramuh. Can't find a damn party on the server willing to do it. Ah Lamia. How casual you be. Smiley: glare

I'm going to be very busy outside FFXIV this weekend, but if I can manage to get on I'll be going back to "regular" stuff. Hit 50 on Goldsmith last night. It's left me short on gil and very short on GC seals.

So Dailies, and some advancing storyline, with luck a HM primal or two.

1) Do Hullbreaker Isle. It's the only one of the new dungeons that I need to do, and then I'll unlock Duty Roulette Expert again.

2) Work on Leatherworker. To make the Tarzan swimsuit, I need to get it to 50.

3) Work on Bard. Currently 33, so 35 is doable.

4) Try Syrcus Tower (I can't help but think it's "Circus Tower").

Try out Frontlines.
Farm Hullbreaker some more and cap tomes. I freaking LOVE that dungeon.
Clear King Mog EX.
Clear Ramuh HM with my FC once the others finish the storyline.
Take the FC through CT2 once and pop their cherries.

1) Expert roulette + myth farming toward Novus (ongoing goal, lol)
2) Complete the new storyline quests
3) Start learning Moogle Ex
4) Level up Dragoon (at 39 now, would love to hit 43 by Sunday night)

And in between all that, I'd love to find some elite marks in addition to doing my daily hunts.

1) Do the remaining two new dungeons to get those cleared off my quest list. Tamtara HM was..... *shivers* I think I might farm it regularly, though. It's not too hard.

2) Try the new Sycus Tower.

3) Get my damn GLD to 22 so I can continue leveling WAR.

4) Furnish my FC room. It's very sad looking right now.

I just referenced this Moogle guide a couple days ago myself. Had forgotten some of the more obscure details of the fight.

After you have Novus the Expert Roulette drops Alexandrite Maps? How does that work?

Kind of sad that Soldiery is not used for anything but buying gear for Alts now. I thought Soldiery would buy something that could push a ilvl98 character forward, but appears not.

I guess the most effective use of time in the effort to further upgrade Bard is to find those stupid Atmas. *sigh*

There's a repeatable quest in Mor Dhona that rewards you with an alexandrite by completing an Expert roulette. The quest starts in Hyrstmille (spelling), I think.

Oh? So I could do that quest now and stock up on Alexandrite without having Novus yet?
#10 Jul 11 2014 at 11:41 AM Rating: Excellent
Unfortunately, no. Quest doesn't become active until you complete an Animus weapon.

Gonna also need to desynth some craft gear, otherwise you need 10 level 1 desynth materia for those recipes, and they run 44k each on our server (ouch). Otherwise they are 1 star and you shouldnt have too much troubel with them. Also you need 5 battlecraft and 5 crafting desynth materia to even unlock the leatherworker book to unlock the recipes. Took me a bit to amass those on my own. I'm at the point now where I'm just trying to gather enough desynth materia to make one on my own without breaking my pockets.

Well, techically... soldiery items are lvl 100, and if you have a relic animus + all the gear bought with soldiery your ilvl 98 could get pushed to 100? Smiley: grin

And bring a friend. And a chocobo. You can't solo it. Had a gigantic golem that spawned 200 little plants that wiped the floor with my ilvl 94 tank / chocobo. Will never try to solo again.

So... a certain someone from the forums here got their first taste of Twintania with our group Wednesday.

We did not Clear twin but we treated it as a learning party and got consistently to the Twister Phase, showcasing how quickly he could learn and adapt to a group.

Thursday Night Static got Twin down Twice. Our Free Company leader finally got her Allegan Book for her Scholar (giving her a set of both books) And I finally walked away with the Spear. Getting fairly confident in our group to keep at it until our members have had their fill of beating the dragon down.

Our Free Company hit a major goal achievement. Thanks to a generous assistance by one of our more wealthy members, our Free Company beat the rush and upgraded to a Medium House! We're already hard at work crafting furniture for the new areas and planning out private rooms to be used as extended public RP areas.

Goals for the Free Company this weekend:

Raiding
Friday Night Fights: Get everyone who attends in the Free Company past the Striking Tree (Hard) and get our feet wet with the first Leviathan Extreme fight! (With a possible dip in Sycrus Tower in between, if we have time.)

Sunday, Navel Sunday: The Bloodbath against Titan continues on a new day. To try to evade lag and keep from burning out on Fridays, we've moved Titan fights to an independent day dedicated to getting our members cleared through it, no matter the cost! The goal for Sunday is obvious - to have better luck against Titan this time than the times before it. We've gotten close, now time to get it done.

Roleplays:

While our avatars struggle in game to beat Titan, it's time for the Free Company to face down the Lord of Crags in character. The investigation of the mysterious totems continues!

-----------------------------------

You know, when I list it out, I have to say I feel genuinely lucky to have such a great group that keeps this active each week. Makes me wish I had more time to play.

Ok, give me a tip on getting Atmas. Iv'e tried:
- Changing areas
- Not changing ares for 5 or more hours at a a time
- Using the JP Atma theory based on Local Time
- Using the JP Atma theory based on JST
- Using the JP Atma theory based on Server time
- Using the JP Atma theory based on JST adjusted for my time zone

It's absolutely sickening to devote an entire evening to this with nothing to show for it, which I've done for countless nights now. Have I ever mentioned how boring it is to participate in level synched fates? Of the last 30+ hours I've gotten one, so 8/12 now. I stopped keeping track around 100+ hours. That was a while back now.

I understand that no one, least of all SE, gives a flying nut about other players and their feelings over this system. I just need some strategy to try that may work better then everything I've done to date.

It's totally random. You can change all the areas you want, run all the timers you want, make sacrifices to your dark gods all you want, it's a purely random event.

That said, I am a priest of RMGesus. If you wish to make a sacrifice for his/her/its/their (Gender Determined by a 1d4 for each appellation.) favor.

I take .... *sound of clattering dice*
Gil, Allegan Tomestones, Venture Tokens, and Cheezits (Botched that last roll, I went for Titan Extreme wins x.x)

So it's entirely possible that I could spend another 100+ hours and still not have them. Is that correct?

I used to find that I would get them more often in Atma parties, on or around 1-5 FATEs after one member in the group would get one. Maybe it was just my luck, but it did take me a damn long while to get both atma and animus.

Yes, that's possible. I don't know what the exact drop rate is supposed to be, but it's a strict percentage chance. I had one zone that coughed up its atma on the very first FATE, and I've had instances of going literally days without seeing a drop. I decided to shelve that until they make the progression more reasonable than rolling a 1d1000 and being disappointed every time it doesn't roll 1000.

I'm going farm ST until I finally get a drop and then work on getting the three new dungeons done for the first time. I also only have to do two more days worth of Sylph quests to get my Goobue mount, so I should probably do that. I finished up the new story stuff last night. The last CS was interesting, I just wish I hadn't had to do all those fetch quests after the Striking Tree ( which was painfully easy, by the way) to see it. If I have time, I'll need to look into the new Hildy quests too.

I wish to do some hunting and mostly coil, as i want to deck out my new 50 BLM with dome 90 gear (it also looks sweg) but we will see. Queues have been a drag. I will probably want to do frontlines too, as I want that sexy BRD armor.

I guess luck.was just in my favour then... I am currently working on my PLD novus, and over the last 2 weeks, have been farming fates on DRG for atmas in between roulettes. I followed the journal list for zone order. I've only had 1 day where I tried for atmas and didn't get one, and 1 day I got 3! Got my 2nd full set of atmas wrapped up last night, half way through book 1 now. It's random, but you need to be persistent. Sure you may go 4 hours without seeing one, and that sucks. But you may also go 5 minutes and see 2, you just have to accept the random aspect of it.

Any FFXI vets will testify to how casual this process is in comparison to an equivalent process (empyrean/relic) in XI, so maybe my patience for this relentless grind is higher, as I've come from far worse, I dunno. Stick with it, it's far from impossible :-)

That certain someone is happy to have been brought along! Smiley: grinSmiley: laugh

He's also traumatized. Enough to keep me speaking about him in third person. Funny thought; how I got on my own case with divebombs was hearing Piccolo from DBZ: Abridged yell "DODGE!" Then promptly afterwards "Why...didn't...you...DOOOODGE?!"

Tonight my FC helped me finish off my first relic. I just needed the primals, but was dreading the fight. Also got the Zenith, then we did my first Turn 1 win.
