Of last week's goals, the RPs went down rather nice, but my personal goals took a hit. I only just managed to get Warrior to 50 for Lin. I did, however, complete my second Animus book and had enough mythology to pick up my third, which already, thanks to some time this morning before work, has all its FATE related requirements done.

Sadly, no Stoneskin for Eric yet. Still working on that one.

Tonight's crunch time to get some ST pieces for Lin and Eric before the Maintenance/Reset. Going to see if my interest in a Hunt LS survives the adjustments they make for Hunts tonight before I resume looking for one: Honestly, getting pretty hard to pick one up on Balmung.

Other than that, it's Haitus time for the FC, and a well needed one. I'll be doing draft-write ups for a raiding initiative we're calling Vanguard. The basic premise is to have on dedicated Raid group work to the benefit of the rest of the FC until we can get a second raid force put together, and the Vanguard group will be operating 2 of our 3 Raid Nights (One for Training/Clearning, the other to get difficult fights done for our FC and Alliance members.) and the third will be open night to get things done for everyone. Lots of prep work needs to be done to list out exactly how it's all going to go down so there are minimal questions involved in applying or requesting assistance from it.

Goals for the remainder of the week on the personal front:

Lin:
Finish Third Book for Lin's Spear
Get base Relic Axe
Gage interest in Hunts/Hunt LS

Eric:
Get Stoneskin
Assess Viability of PvP on Eric for gearing Summoner.

Hyrist:
Make progression on Main Storyline.

RP Goals:
Attend Thrusday's "Open Bar Night" hosted by another RP FC in leau of a Raid event.
Have a Campfire Story to tell for the new casual event on Saturday
Prepare for next "Outbreak" storyline chapter this Sunday

I'm also wondering if the "oils" crowd has realized that hunts are far superior to ST.

That really depends. When all you can get are dailies and the occasional B rank, allied seals don't really come that quickly.

:Bought another Atma book, which I managed to completely ignore all week.
:Took the BRD belt from ST so I could at least get something this week.
:Capped Soldiery, which will allow me to use my UAT next week (once I cap again).
:Started leveling Armorsmith. It's the only equipment making craft I have left to work on. I really just want to be able to meld and repair anything I want, so I'll probably not bother with cooking or alchemy, probably...

But if you get lucky with A ranks and get a log or two to drop, you can knock out an oil or sand in one weekend like I did.

No pants. Probably because I didn't run T4 at all. Funny how that works!

Got Amon pants for BRD. Not what I wanted but I grew tired of doing ST and getting nothing.

Garuda extreme down... Leviathan you are next.

While this was a big goal for a weekend, I did manage to kill the majority of my FC a couple times.

No BLM ring, no i90, sad panda. Should reach that this week with my UAT.

Well I'll be darn. Just did some T4, and got my pants.

I was SUPPOSED to do that on the weekend, but whatever. Smiley: clown

Hard to do when so many people show up to A/S fights that you can't target anything and the thing dies as fast as Bs tend to do.

For this lowly PS3 player it isn't really a matter of luck

With a ps3, your best bet is to hang out in a zone with a long-open window and shout for invites as you follow the horde to the NM.

Even doing that doesn't always help though. You still have to get on the NM's enmity list somehow (you can't just completely leech credit off of a party; this didn't work with FATEs and it doesn't work with hunts either) which is hard to do when nothing is rendering or targetable

You pretty much have to be one of those **** groups who gets there first and starts fighting early before the mob shows up and makes everything invisible.

I have to do AK and Pharos Sirius to finally finish my current Animus Book. Dont really want to, but been capped on myths so they'll go to waste unless i buy a new book.

I'm thinking of getting some more hunts done, i can use the gear from allied seals to gear up my alternative jobs i've been neglecting ever since Darklight levels.
Got my bard to full i90 with something like 260 seals. Pretty good.

I need to gather a LOT of Wind crystals and gold ore for rings and continue on the desynthing course i've been on. GSM lv.64 now. Want to get it to atleast Darklight levels by the end of the weekend.

Got a few points, nothing major, shame.

I want to catch some of these green fish that have been selling well on my server. And desynth all the ones that arent sellable.

Caught fish, nothing interesting.

And as always, try and use the weekend to shout for members to revive my FC and/or meet some new friends that way. I havent been out of the Mist even once in weeks >.>

Should have, would have, could have... Oh well ._.

1. Switch to WHM
2. Join party
3. Spam Medica II repeatedly before and during the fight
4. ???
5. PROFIT

You'll be on the enmity list from the second someone pulls and can get full credit easily if you're in a full party. And you never even have to target the mob once.

Paladin's flash also works... that's my go-to strategy during the rare times when mobs disappear and I absolutely cannot target them (usually only S-rank fights, but I understand that probably happens all the time on the ps3).

Yesterday I noticed the first couple of nm's I ran across had a few folks from my friends list who had clearly arrived on time. They were in some good parties, I could tell, but chatter wasn't coming across my linkshells. The times where I was getting something across the ls would be just enough time for me to get there to see it die. I noticed that right after the nm died the people on my list in those parties would "follow port" i.e. disappear without animation to indicate that they took someone else's port (probably following someone using radar). So I popped open the friends list to see where they went, and dropped a line to my favorite ls (the one all my FC are in) and my party with the location (so I get full credit). 9/10 I would be right on my intuition, and follow the group to the nm. Then right after arriving I would throw up my macro.

/p <t>, <pos>, Please hurry.
/fc <t>, <pos>, Please hurry.
/wait 1
/l3 <t>, <pos>, Please hurry.
/l8 <t>, <pos>, Please hurry.
/l2 <t>, <pos>, Please hurry.
/l7 <t>, <pos>, Please hurry.
/say Please hold, lots of folks on their way =D

Works surprisingly well.

Medica spam is probably the best bet, yeah. I tried the Flash thing before, but apparently either they weren't registering or someone moved the mob a significant distance from where it was (betting on the latter, because Flash range is pretty bad) and I got zero credit.

Still think it's pretty ridiculous that people have to play that stupidly just to be able to get credit for these fights, though.

Valk, I love that macro!

My one issue is I never like to wait until I arrive at the NM before giving a position. As soon as I learn of a mark, I just type in "Cent Than 31 22" or whatever is fastest, just so my party can start heading there asap. Then, I do the same in LS chat as I'm running to the mark.

I'm thinking though I could make a macro that says something like:

"NM sighted in this zone, IGNORE POSITION COORDINATES <pos>"

And then when I have the mob in sight, use the actual "<t> at <pos>" macro.

Finally worked up the nerve and got all three HM Primals for my Black Mage relic.

Just got back to the game yesterday after being gone since January. Quite a few things have changed. My goal is simply find out where to go for what. I still had tomes of philosophy on me, if that's any indication lol

I have a 50WAR and 47BRD that I have to get familiar with again. I started the quests for the beastmen tribes last night. My priority right now is getting through AV for this Maelstom quest.

Welcome back! You can trade your Philo tomes for some myth.

I know! I wish I could figure out how to macro in the last thing I typed. Thinking of making a "Still Up" macro for the rare cases where google chrome (I mean the character google chrome, the most infamous idiot on Lamia) doesnt pull immediately after I broadcast the macro =/.

Where "a few more" turned out to be a couple of roulettes, a couple of Sahagin quests, and my first run through Lost City of Amdapor: Sphairai Zenithed.

Which is when I realized that I really can't decide whether I like WHM or MNK more. I end up playing WHM most of the time because it's quick to get into DF, and it's easy to solo almost anything with a tanking Chocobo (shades of FFXI RDM endurance soloing sometimes, but win). I do adore Praetorium on WHM -- right now that's my favorite activity in all Eorzea, I never get tired of it -- but I really do wish I could find more excuses to be MNK than I do at present.

Next up: time to make a serious attempt to Hunt, to see if I like that. I think I will -- it might just turn out to be the same-server party environment that I miss from XI -- but once again I am afraid that will have to be on WHM instead of MNK.

Actually, Hunt parties roll just fine as 8 DPS classes. Smiley: nod

I'd only go WHM if you are regularly having problems with the mob disappearing from view (PS3 def has this problem.)

I finished my melds and became a 3-Star Culinarian last night! Smiley: grinSmiley: grin Master craft at last!

I am stoked. I'm already getting food orders from the FC tanks for Popoto Pancakes, and the odd HQ I get goes up on the MB for an obscene profit. I also got lucky last night when Gathering III materia dropped from 250k to about 30k for a while. I bought up a bunch and put some melds on my BTN.

Lost lot on a UAT but nailed an Oil and de-weathered my Evenstar ring.

Blew all the tons of myth I've been hoarding and commissioned a Summoning Bell for the FC house.

Last night was a hell of a night!

I need about 250 Allied Seals and 100 or so soldiery to get my 110 Bow.

Should be done just a few hours after I finally get a chance to log in this week!
