Magic Damage on weapons?Follow

This has been bothering me for a while now.

A lot of websites out there have weapons listed with their Physical Damage, for instance the Curtana Animus i just got has a Physical Damage of 49, but it also lists a Magic Damage of 36 which i cant find anywhere in-game at all.

At first i thought this was just a remnant of 1.0's system, but they list the Magic Damage on physical weapons for most of the new gear as well.

What does this stand for? What benefit does it give someone who, like Paladin, doesnt have any magic to use anyhow?

Is it just used for skills, or used for calculating damage when a mage triggers the DPS Limit Break?

if those websites are true then I would have to guess that since every class can equip a spell that there needs to be some magic damage on a weapon regardless if its for a physical DD so it could be used.

Paladin still gets cure as a cross class ability. It's still not useful the vast majority of the time IMO and I typically don't even keep it on my bar, but if you equip a low level sword and switch to a high level one you can clearly see a difference. With Novus my cures are roughly double what they are when equipped with a level 13 Blazefire Saber.

Similarly, mage weapons have a Physical Damage rating that's hidden, although it's equally rare you'd see a situation where that would be a factor. Charmed mages do auto-attack with their weapons, I suppose. Smiley: lol

actually, we have our mages stand close enough to the boss in T8 just for additional DPS. they do about an extra 5 DPS each with melee attacks. even the healers. it's not much, but it' something. That can make or break a fight designed with such a high DPS requirement.

What about Stoneskin? Its potency is based purely on the max HP of the recipient (as well as whether the caster is the Conjurer class, which gets a trait that increases its value)

Sometimes if I'm on my paladin and I get word of a hunt, I like to swap to my blm cause 2.5k crits can get me 12 seals and 48 myth on an A rank by myself. But sometimes I get there and swap too late, and get caught in the cooldown phase, waiting on my spells to become active. If I'm in a party, and waiting on cooldown, I pull out my staff, rush in, and autobop the giant crab/bird/dragon etc. in the shoulder once or twice for 10 damage to get credit.

Runefencer turned out to be a beast on some NMs in FFXI. A RUN can solo stuff in Abyssea it would otherwise take a trio at minimum to handle without a primeval brew.

Sounds like a plan. When do we camp outside of the Squeenix building until we get Runefencers?
