Which character do you want to see SE bring back?Follow

#1 Aug 05 2014 at 3:28 PM Rating: Excellent
Hi everyone!

So they brought back Lightning twice and it was a intriguing story to say the least. I would like to see them bring back some more characters. My pick would be my all time favorite: Rinoa!!!

They can have a storyline with her and we can battle Ultimecia as an achievement.

What say you? =D

I would like to see a coliseum type of content where you get to challenge NPC fights, and the NPCs are obvious rip offs of previous FF heroes (maybe even poking at the fun of the people who name their characters the same... imagine a joke where one's last name is Strife and it is hinted that's the given name to those who are bastards like Snow is to Jon in Game of Thrones.) It's not THEM, but it's obvious that they are the FFXIV versions of them. Perhaps a questline and cutscenes for epic amusement like the Hildebrand line. :)

Imagine a fight with Cloud, Squall, Zidane, and Tidus rip offs? (And it's epically easy hahahaha. Ok nah that would suck, as I would want the fights to be tough.)

It would also be a great way to get in FFXIV versions of previous battle musics.

Could be an alternative way to gain allied seals too!

They had a Dragon Quest event some time back, so we don't necessarily have to stick with Final Fantasy characters.

Since SE now owns the Tomb Raider brand, I'd say let's get Lara Croft to kick start the Musketeer's guild. Smiley: lol

Golbez and his four lords of the elements.

Would be a nice fight against the "Blighted Despot", Scarmiglione, the "Drowned King", Cagnazzo, "Empress of the Winds", Barbariccia, and "Autarch of Flame", Rubicante.

Sort of like Titan, Levi, Garuda and Ifrit fights all rolled into one. They can even half-assedly copy most of the moves as long as Rubicante also heals us sometimes.

It would be the perfect chance to give us amazing Four Archfiend/Golbez inspired armors as well.

Barbariccia bikini? {yes please}

Not to mention they can bring back the theme song! I was thrilled when it was on the dissidia soundtrack.

Since everyone is so excited for Ishgard in the future - Why not bring back the most famous Dragoon of all? A run-in with Kain would be great for fans of IV - Maybe there's a reason not to trust him again?

Well, the problem is, lore-wise, there could only be one dragoon at the same time i believe. By a matter of fluke ,in this case the other dragoon going bad, so a new "good" one had to be picked, a second one got created. And now there is just one, you.

As fun as it might be, it would be highly unlikely if not impossible to implement Kain, or person who simply references Kain but is still a dragoon.

It's why I dislike this more generic route...least in XI that made sense despite circumstances. (It's a unit no longer largely trained post Crystal War and the wyvern you saved is simply a baby..most DRGs killed or used larger Wyverns as pets.)

There can only be 1 Azure Dragoon......

and by 1 Azura Dragoon they made as many players as possible.

BUT TO BE FAIR.

Most DRGs can't even stay alive in basic encounters, so the pool on the legendary azure dragoon is pretty small that it can fit into the lore. Smiley: laugh

None. I hope they come up with their own characters and don't bring back any more old ones.

There are many Dragoons, there is only one Azure Dragoon which takes the role of the Player Character Dragoon.

However,

It's widespread known that Adventurers are notorious for sharing secrets there for the combat arts, lore even the artisan secrets of the old Artifact Armors are more or less public knowledge at this point. This is why the Mythology armors are based off of the old Artifact sets, according to lore, they're replicas that improve upon the originals.

So, while Ishgardians revere only one "Azure Dragoon." The armor, combat secrets, and stylization of the Dragoons donning the Azure armor are commonplace.

>.>

Yeah, the RP community has mulled over lore issues like this for a long time. Some classes are much easier to excuse than others due to the way their individual stories are written (Paladins vs White Mages, for instance.) But ultimately, in the RP community, it's accepted that Lore Wise, it's recognized that Adventurers tend to spread the knowledge of that stuff among themselves. (Hell, it's recognized in both 1.0 and 2.0 lore as a trend of 'reviving the old ways' )

This is one of the deliberate choices they made with the game that actually bothers me. You (the player character) is also told how super duper special you are, you are the ONE, you are the one Dragoon, you are the one who managed to relearn the Warrior skills (IDR), etc., you are the chosen.

I see what they were going for, doesn't work at all in a MMORPG world though. But they even advertise it. Like "In WoW... you're just ANYBODY.... but in FFXIV you're "special!" But there's something sorta cool about the whole realm being filled with badasses too.

Hopefully the storyline for Ninja is not that I am the lone special soul who was able to uncover the lost ninja arts [while there are a dozen ninjas bustling around me]

Actually, one of the funniest things in the latest missions is you, the super duper Chosen One, having to go give pep talks to other adventurers who are biting off more than they can chew trying to be like you. Smiley: bah

In FFXI there really wasn't anything special about you other than happening to be in the right place at the right time.

Also in 1.0 there were a lot of people with the Echo - Minfilia was just the first one to be identified, hence being the Antecedent ("the one who came before.") She was just a confused teenager during those quests and they weren't partnered with the Circle of Knowing yet. But I recall one of the few storylines I finished out involved you and your adventuring partner (think the adventuring fellows in XI) who also had the Echo going off and doing missions for her.

Although your character passes out in FFXI cutscenes just about as much as in FFXIV. Smiley: lol
