Fates give feeble.
Hunts give no light.
By the way someone brought up on another forum the reason Hunts give no light.. It is there way to get less people to do them now... There way of balancing things out like they said they would do...

Good to know this aint something random like the atma but is going to take a pretty long time still..

This is probably the most fun grind of the Zodiac system so far, but damn, this is going to take awhile.

EDIT: People were spamming Turn 4 yesterday (quick completion, get light at the end), but I did it five times and got gentle four times and bright just once. I see very little advantage there over just doing expert dungeons or ST.

I just wish I hadn't already ran ST so many times trying to get UATs, which are now much easier to get.

On the other hand, this is great incentive to hone my skills with various primal fights. The more ex primals I can jump into and farm, the more light I'll rack up.

I hear you on ST.. But with the sand and oil dropping it aint so bad now....
Also you can get this just doing most normal things you do everyday int he game too...
So turn 4 gave different lights? what do you think the difference was?

A nice elegant solution to get the top tier players doing a variety of content again.

Did AV last night and got A Brilliant Light. I'm burning this Dungeon for Materia and light. Also Darkhold - I still need to check which light that gives.

I got into garuda hm last night and we dps'ed it down so fast it skipped most of the modes... Every other person in there other than me was doing lights.. People are doing it because it can be done in a few minutes now, I think it only gives like 2-4 lights but I guess you can get allot more lights than doing st in the same amount of time.. I saw parties being put together for garuda hm now to spam it..

Today I heard they are doing cape westward because it can be done in less time even still but gives even less light but over time you can get more.

You need 2000 Light on your weapon to finish soul attunement. The first picture was with the value of light set at 1999. It is obviously not enough.

Light Values (All Confirmed 100%):

Feeble: 1 (Confirmed)
Gentle: 2 (Confirmed)
Bright: 4 (Confirmed)
Brilliant: 6 (Confirmed)
Blinding: 12 (Confirmed)
Newborn Star: 16 (Confirmed)

Tiers:

'No Activity': 0 - 199
'Indisctinct Activity': 200-399
'Faint Activity': 400-599
'Slight Activity': 600-799
'Modest Activity': 800-999
'Distinct Activity': 1000-1199
'Robust Activity': 1200-1399
'Vigorous Activity': 1400-1599
'Intense Activity': 1600-1799
'Extreme Activity': 1800-1999
'Bursting Activity': 2000+ (Complete)

Notice : I released a simple app that allows you to check the status of your Novus weapons. That said, I cannot post it here (to my knowledge). You can head over to BlueGartr or guildwork and find it pretty easily.

Light Values By Event:

FATE | Base : Feeble, Bonus: None(?)
Map (Alexandrite) | Base: Gentle, Bonus: None(?)
First Coil | Base: Gentle(T1-5?), Bonus: Bright(T1-5?)
Primal (HM) | Base: Gentle, Bonus: Bright
Primal (EX) | Base: Bright, Bonus: Brilliant
High Roulette | Base: Bright, Bonus: Brilliant
Expert Roulette | Base : Brilliant, Bonus: Blinding
Syrcus Tower | Base : Blinding, Bonus: Newborn Star

That would be nice if most of them weren't just spamming the same things over and over again...

There are windows of time for bonuses where certain trails etc give more light. Last night I spammed garuda hm in df on my paladin, and got about 10 brights in a row before the window wore off and it went back to gentle. It pretty much dies right after the first adds now, before the sleepy plume arrives. Spamming garuda hm is not bad, the weapon drop makes good desynth fodder, or trades for 800 seals, you get commendations, and you get a little myth and soldiery for your time. But I can't imagine the lack of life the people have who already have a nexus. I ran garuda hm 20 times last night for a total of about 60 light (10 on bright, 10 on gentle). After doing alexandrite maps for feeble (1 each) and doing 3 or 4 ST and expert roulette for blinding and brilliant, I still have yet to see the "Indisdinct ability" that you get when cracking 200. This is going to take me a loooong time lol.

No clue. They are not the same time every day. Maybe they are on a weekly rotation, I'm not sure. All I know is that I feel like I have battled and battled and battled and seen the light hundreds of times and still have no aetheric activity in my novus. This is gonna take forever, lol.

According to this thread it is random. The bonus window lasts 2 hours. Every 2 hours a random dungeon/trial is selected for the bonus.

Kind of reminds me where you had to get 500 skill points to unlock the latent effect in ffxi

It seems really un-SE-like that this is something you can just blow through in a couple of days if you're willing to spam hard enough. Surprised there's not a cap.

...not saying if this is a good or bad thing, but it just seems crazy to me that there were people running around with these within days just because they spammed Garuda HM/Cape Westwind/T4/whatever ad nauseum.

The fastest way to do it (so I hear) is Garuda HM spam. Takes 5 minutes if you are in a premade, but if you are like me, on Lamia, you are usually forced to go duty finder, which takes 10 minutes (because 5 minute load time).

So... 2 light per garuda, 4 light if it happens to be bonus time. Let's be conservative and assume we are very unlucky and never hit the bonus. And we will assume that we don't have a premade. So every 6 runs (at 10 minutes per run best case scenario) gives 12 light for one hour's work. We need 2000 light to get the nexus. That, my friends, is 167 straight hours of garuda. Seven days if you don't sleep, 9.3 days if you get eight hours sleep and spam garuda for 18 hours a day. 41.75 days if you spam garuda for 4 hours a day. And if you are like me and maybe run 3 or 4 garuda, an expert roulette, and some maps per day for about 10-20 light, at best I'll make it there in 100 days from start. So maybe by Christmas.

On second thought, T4 doesnt sound too bad. I could get my lion mount, some good gear to trade for seals, and some light. Takes a bit longer than garuda but I'm thinking about it.

That garuda fight has got insane.. I got it the last few times in DF roulette trial. They dont get behind the rocks, they dont kill the plumes they just dps her down.. It skips most of the phases.... Its almost like it is bugged...

I'm wondering if the bonuses are different per server. Was doing trial roulette last night. Got Levi HM 4 times. After the first run I noticed some of the same players. Asked them if they were getting nexus bonus from levi HM, they said yes. I was just getting 2 light.

It's the fundamental design choice with the relic line. No caps, but lots of grinding involved.

Which is also why it's behind the Coil in terms of ilevel for the majority of the progression cycle...

It's only un-SE-like because they took a bit long to get the content out there. Having options to do stuff like this was always in their design, I think.

Tanking it is pretty easy. Just keep her at the north rock through the first jump, then when she jumps to the middle, tank her there, but have her face diagonal so she kills only one pillar with her attacks. Then go to the NW corner after the big attack, pull her there, and the twins die so fast you dont even know they are there. Pull garuda in the big clockwise circle once the plumes appear (if you are df, you might see the plumes), and there you go.

As a tank, I have to df a ton, and it is no longer instaqueue garuda hm. One tank, two heals, and five dps in most of these parties. It means that a lot of tanks are out there begging with promises that they will spec dps gear. I, however, will not lower myself to that ****.

This link seems to be the best real time on info on where the light bonuses are at. The link is in the original reddit post that the OP linked to, but wanted to point it out just in case someone missed it. I just found it last night myself.

I actually started wearing DPS accessories to help get parties (it hasn't really worked), but my eyes have been opened to the usefulness of DPS gear in things like dungeons, early coil, etc.

I've been doing frontlines on my paladin. I queue up hm trial, frontlines, wolves den and frontlines (with the join in progress checked) always pops first. Gives 6 - 12 light and I'm lvl 25 anyway so I can use the exp. Sad thing is, the frontlines battles are half composed of novus wielding tanks, lol. Wonder why =p
