So I get a email about a post I made in 2013 about a year ago right around the time the beta ended, I got this email in September of 2014 but the email wasn't bad it was about some guy trolling I never mentioned his name because guide lines of name shaming and this was in 2013 something I forgot about.

Today I was banned for using the word Lazy, because the guy said he shouldn't have to go places to get a card to play the game in his region which doesn't accept credit cards so he wanted to play but can't because of play span and if he wanted to play he would have to get the game cards.

I said "I call that lazy, I did since FFXI - FFXIV every month putting money on my card when I get paid, then I said I understand Square Enix had bad payment options I won't forget about clickandbuy"

But because I used the word lazy compared to people cussing, attacking others and other thing's I have seen on those forum's that should be removed or banned haven't but two post I made were removed.

I have asked similar people and they agree and have had similar things happen to them for not so bad post.

Has anyone else had this happen to you?

Everyone gets banned from the FFXIV forums at one point.

I got perma-banned from their "discussion forum" for mentioning to someone's topic about them being banned with;
"SE doesnt have any sense of humor, doesnt understand sarcasm and that they will simply ban you for the slightest thing". Which was ironic really.

I wouldnt sweat it too much, it's pretty much a cesspool of people who shouldnt make any suggestions that are making suggestions, as well as people who shouldnt even be breathing our air responding to them.

Only shame is that you cant post about any bugs or problems you encounter anymore now.

It doesn't matter when the post was placed on the OF or even what context it was meant as, all it takes is for someone to read the post and report it if they find it offensive (even though you don't think it is). You're not missing much by being banned from the OF, be glad they didn't ban your game account as well.

I think StateAlchemist got banned last week. I can't find a thread he started any more. Smiley: eek

The only way to NOT get banned on the official forums is to not post there casually. I've avoided it so far, but I've been pretty judicious in what I say and when I say it.

Yeah I looked over the email I got it says "Posting content with the intenetion of criticizing either Square Enix staff"

Because I said the stuff about their payment options aka Click and Buy, I don't care that was the worst payment option I have ever encountered.

Though that does not have anything to do with their staff or does it?

@Sillyhawk You got that right.

@catwho Yeah I believe you man, I might not end up going back there, a tiny little word might be huge to them and they take it the wrong way it might mean bad news for me in the long run best to steer clear of that mess.

I was given a two week temp ban for referring to someone as having special snowflake syndrome and then a month later I may have inadvertently suggested someone man up who was going into hystrionics over some tiny change in an update. For the latter I received a polite email from S-E announcing despite being given numerous warnings I had continued to re-offend and as a result would be permanently banned.

While I feel they were ridiculously Draconian in their approach the blame lies squarely on my shoulders. That said, it has done nothing to improve my already woeful opinion of their Customer Service.

And yet, in spite of the draconian measures employed to ban people from the official forums for stirring up trouble, they still manage to be a cesspool of hate, derision, madness and hysteria. Smiley: oyvey

I've posted there quite a bit over the past couple months, and I've not been shy about wading into controversy. I haven't been banned.

You just have to keep it real. Don't take cheap shots at SE, and don't take cheap shots at other forum users. Just keep the conversation to the Xs and Os of game mechanics, general player issues, etc. People always have to slip in that one little zinger, and that's why they get banned.

Focus on making good points, and leave the zingers to people who can't substantiate their posts in any other way.

Do all this and you'll still get perma'd if you as much as hint of the massive hacking problems from last year.

I must say they settled that issue with an iron hand since the economies weren't permanently ruined though.

This^

I've no problem conversing in that forum aside from the usual migraine it induces in seeing such social polarization. People can present concrete evidence to a case and still you'll get people in General discussion taking to opposite (yet equally wrong) statements on the matter.

If it wasn't for the fact that I'm trying to stay relevant on topics I'd avoid it all together. But you'll get linked stuff there days before it shows up elsewhere sometimes.

That said, keeping yourself civil and to the point, evade taking shots at the Company/Community members and you should be fine.

Though it's pretty weird to me that tons and tons of people are Posting content with the intenetion of criticizing either Square Enix staff everyday.
Though they choose a select few to ban even if its typed out pretty well.

The people who target SE for housing, payment plans, coil lock outs, pvp and other stuff they've been blasting SE over for months now but don't do anything to them.
Which strikes me as Odd.

Though it's okay, I probably going to take the high road on this one and avoid them forums, because they ask you to criticize what they make in order to make it better but how can you when they ban you it's a failed system.

I've criticized three of the four topics above, and I haven't been banned or even warned. Like I said, the problem isn't what people post about, it's that they don't really know how to convey their thoughts without insulting others in the process.

This, pretty much. It's a skillset that is usually abandoned on the internet, so posting that way is like typing a research paper out.

I'm pretty sure we would all get banned if this was the case here. Smiley: lol

Yep!!!!

It's insanely difficult to get banned from ZAM. You pretty much have to beg for it. Yet, shockingly, it happens.
