HOORAY

Quote:
Allagan Tomestones of Mythology
Allagan tomestones of mythology will no longer be obtainable.
All trials and duties that yield Allagan tomestones of mythology will instead offer either Allagan tomestones of soldiery or the new Allagan tomestone currency.

Players will no longer be able exchange Allagan tomestones of mythology for items.
Although Allagan tomestones of mythology will not be removed, items obtained through their exchange will be made available through other means.

Guys, go buy any iLvl 90 gear you may need for upcoming jobs. We saw how rare Darklight gear became once it went into the dungeons. I have NEVER seen the Darklight Robe of Casting or whatever it's called, and I would have liked that for my black mage...

I don't really understand. What will happen with my mythology tomes? I have done the low level duty roulette once a day to try and save up so I have some to spend when I get NIN, but now I won't be able to use those? I mean, I can't spend them before the patch on something I want since I don't know what NIN will be wearing.

It doesn't say but I wonder if it will be like the phil stones when they let you convert them. I ain't taking any chances I might just end up spending mine for a mysterious map for a alexandrite.

You'll be able to convert them to Soldiery.

But it's obvious now that myth tomes will not be used to purchase your NIN iLvl 90 gear.

Same thing that happened with Philosophy Tomes.

You can probably convert them to Soldiery at a 4:1 ratio just like with Philo>Myth before.

Dungeons that used to give you Myth will now give you Soldiery instead (possibly at a reduced rate again).

And the latest group of added new dungeons will drop the new kind of Tomes you need.

These sort of changes are rarely a good thing, but they do mean that no one will be starting the update with a full stockpile of them ready to spend on (weekly capped) gear. Everyone will have to start over at 0 again on the new kind till they hit the cap (300 or 450 again most likely)

Hey, wow. I was dead wrong. I figured with the institution of the relic quest books they would have held onto mythology a bit longer. I was flat out incorrect on my inclinations on this. orz

It's good to know that Soldiery will become more accessible the way Mythology is now then. We'll see how the new gear sets pan out as well. Didn't like the last round of experts as far as DRG gear looked. *Shurg* Lin prefers more form-fitting attire. Easier to move around in.

Ah, thanks for the info guys, I was a bit confused since I wasn't here when they did it with philo stones and I didn't see them mention what would happen with myths. Good to know I can convert them into Soldiery then.

i90 gear can also be purchased with Allied Seals; so it's probably a fair prediction that NIN's i90 gear will be acquired the same way.

I honestly would think this would just be shifted to Soldiery (and the accessories/belts were pushed off into dungeons) at a reduced cost. He *did* state that the team felt that having Mythology job gear just flat out dropping in a dungeon was a big "NO-NO" when asked about it around the launch of 2.3.

We'll have to see though.

Or the quenching oil for the relic quest, or the thavnarian mists for the zenith upgrades.

Odds are these will just be pushed to be bought with soldiery instead of mythology. I just hope they remember to do that.

To be fair it was KIND OF OBVIOUS that wasn't the case. Mythology tomes have been around since launch, it's been a year and they were never phased out when philosphy tomes got phased out fairly quickly.Sol tomes will become the 'standard currency' thus books will be around 800-900 sol tomes, then the new tomes will be used to buy the 'alternate gear' for people who don't do coil 2/3.

The issue is, they're not going to move mythology gear to dungeons unless they changed their mind on progression - there's a reason dungeons drop i70 and i80 gear when they should, by all rights be dropping i90 equivillents, even the whole 'aetherial' line of gear. So unless the new dungeons are actually challenging 4 man content (they won't be) it will still likely only drop i80 gear and they'll keep the current i90 myth gear strictly to allied seals.

I'm a little disappointed that they're getting rid of mythology, because I think it makes it much more difficult for newer players to gear up. On the other hand, there will be new gear via the new tomestone, meaning my retainer's ilvl will shoot through the roof as I replace gear for my PLD and WHM.

Were changes to the Challenge Log scheduled for 2.4?
