Help! coming back and can't get game to download. :: Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV, FF14)

Hi all,
I'm trying to download the launcher before i put money onto my account. I played in the past so I know i have a valid account and registration. Yet I am getting this message

No valid service account is available to play FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.
Please proceed to the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Mog Station to confirm the status of your service account.

I'm taking this that I have to pay for my subscription first before I am aloud in? Please help!

You have to pay for your subscription first before you're allowed in. That has unfortunately always been the case.

You could probably obtain the launcher through non-official means, but i wouldnt recommend that. Still, i dont think it will let you update unless you're able to login (with an active acount), so the point to all that is neglible.
