The franchise will also have a new free phone app titled Final Fantasy Portal. The app will allow fans to check the newest information about the franchise, and will also have the Final Fantasy VIII game Triple Triad available to play within the app. By registering their Square Enix ID and playing Triple Triad, players can receive points that they can exchange for digital contents. Triple Triad will have cards with illustrations from characters throughout the franchise's history, including Final Fantasy VII's Barrett, Final Fantasy VIII's Seifer and Rinoa, Final Fantasy IX's Princess Garnet, and Final Fantasy XII's Vaan and Balthier. The mini-game will also be able to share cards with the Final Fantasy XIV online game. The date of release for the app has not been announced.

The original report was in Japanese on a Japanese site. That being said, if something like this comes out in Japan for FFXIV, there'll be a riot if NA and EU don't get it too.

I never even considered it NOT coming out outside Japan. Yes, there will be riots :p

Not me however, I never bothered with any of the card games in any FF game and yes, I know I am missing out.

Yeah people outside of Japan hate when they can't have what everyone else has :p I'd be surprised if it does but its more money from them (gl if you thought it was going to be free.)

I think it's more along the lines of "clearly there is a demand for what is happening in japan. As a business, why you no take my money?"
