Weekly Goals and Accomplishments 11/21 - 11/27Follow

#1 Nov 21 2014 at 8:39 AM Rating: Excellent
One week until Turkey Weekend for the USians. What are you hoping to accomplish?

1. Get BLM to iLvl 110+ - just a biiiiiit more poetics to replace my lvl 100 pants with 120 base pants.
2. Finish up another book. I purchased it with solidery, but haven't started anything
3. The last bard push from 45-50 needs to begin, now that Ninja Fever has died down a bit. I'll settle for level 48 this week.

I'm not playing any of the new game releases myself, but I am having fun watching a friend go through DA:I on Twitch. Reminds me of the old days of watching someone play a video game - I never actually played through MGS 2: Sons of Liberty myself, but I watched a friend go through most of it, and we encountered the infamous "Raiden has to run naked while his AI is going bonkers" scenes together. Good times.

Again, this last week I did pretty much everything I wanted to do: WVR to 50, MNK to iLvl 101, more pushing through storyline, chocobo advancing nicely, and BLM and SMN on the last stretch towards 50.

This week, more of the same. Keep replacing Myth gear with Soldiery, collecting Poetics to accessorize MNK, advancing storyline, and levelling BLM and SMN. Unlock and run Syrcus Tower. One good Hunt session would be cool, I'm really short of seals for Sands and Oils. And at some point I'll go back to fishing and maybe start the next craft. I might collect Atmas for WHM too.

My goals for the weekend and next week:

Farming T7 on my tank has proved to be pretty lucrative, although I haven't received much in the way of tank gear, I'm pretty happy with the knowledge I've picked up in the position. After I get my nexus I swear I will be burnt out on tank. Currently I am at 1202 / 2000 light. Last night I caught Garuda HM at the beginning of the 2 hour bonus (where she gives 4 light per 4 minute battle) and it was glorious. Gathered 60 light in about 2 hours, and I can say that if you find the right window, it does seem possible to make decent progress. A few days ago I built a spreadsheet to track my progress. I text myself on my phone with a running tally as I am playing, and I tabulate everything afterwards. Currently, my average between 9/29 and 11/20 has been 18.67 light per day. But my average from 11/9 - 11/20 has been 23.91 light per day, since my interest in the shiny stuff and an eventual Excalibur (and the fact I have ninja at 50 now) has caused me to spend a bit more time in this area. Now assuming I can maintain the current 23.91 light per day, that has me getting a shiny nexus by Christmas day. But if I stagnate to my overall pace (which I'm sure I will), I'm hitting nexus around January 2. So unless I get some serious downtime with nothing else going on, and land on the right garuda light window, I'm looking at one month. Man this is the longest phase I swear.

Oh, goals! Right.....

1. 25 light per day towards nexus (at least over the weekend)

2. Keep working to get blm (109), summoner (109), monk (101), scholar (97), dragoon (96), and white mage (95) to the coveted 110. Got the unweathered book of diamonds yesterday. Feels gooood. Becoming really easy to get sands, oils, 110 gear, and UATs when 5 pieces of loot drop at the end of T7. Bard (113), Pal (110), War (110), Nin (110) have already made it. This 110 thing is a long term personal goal I hope to have completed by patch time.

3. Bard is 113, the coat is next. That accuracy requirement is gonna keep me out of T11 if I don't do something about it next week. At 500 poetics now, so this is a tuesday thing.

4. Pray to everything holy that my static finally gets together after three weeks and runs some t10. I'd like to see it at least.

5. Farm some second coil. That's about it.

My goal is to work on lights. I wasn't aware that doing maps triggers them, so I guess I still have a reason to get a daily Alexandrite map.

Ideally, I'd like to push a bit more on some crafting jobs and maybe get NIN past 40.

Finally, I need to pick up some more soldiery to either convert my UAT or bring up the ilvl of my non-PLD jobs.

ST is also an excellent place to farm for oils and sands. Two of each drop per party. 12% odds of getting one on any given run; the other day Rana won the lot on both Sands on the same run. Add into that some iLvl 100 gear you can grab for other jobs now, and it's a worthy place to spend 45 minutes once a day.

I didn't get much done for myself this weekend. I spent most of my time helping out the members of this FC I recently joined. However, the highlights:

Capped poetics (Got WHM gloves and i111)
Finished PLD50 (will get relic tonight hopefully)
Successfully HQ'd a 2 star mat (I'm looking at you Darksteel Ingot) twice! (look...it was a big deal to me.)

Goals for this week:

Get as many Poetics as possible before heading out of town.
Acquire Burtgang or Conqueror.
Get final sand for BRD.
Artisan's Spectacles.

Probably over-estimating myself, but better to aim high than low, right?

15.67 per day over the weekend, failed this one, but I had good reason for skipping leg day on Saturday. See below, #5. 1249 / 2000 light.

Upgraded monk mask with a sands (monk up to 102). Got High Allagan Bellbottoms of Healing, brought my whm up to 96 and sch up to 99. Got the high allagan mask for dragoon, but that didnt raise his ilvl. Upgraded my bard a lot, but the item level remained the same. Bought kirimu coat hq and melded it for crit. Swapped high allagan for auroral ears which are BiS. Bought level 120 gloves. Spent nearly 6 million. But made back 3 selling off stocked stuff so thats good i guess.

Went after kirimu coat for the acc instead. Weird, but it is better than the 120 version. I opted to buy the ilvl 120 gloves instead. It is a fine line balancing this accuracy. I may opt for the pants next or the necklace. I'm not sure. I'll have to look at this one a bit closer to see what is the best option. Either way, eating the acc food has got to stop soon. Hate running out of food or dropping food mid-battle and missing like crazy. I'd much rather have the food result in a dps drop. Now, if I had the T9 bow....

Edit - Did some stat work. Necklace is next, followed by ears, then bracelet. That will stat cap me without ilvl 130 stuff. The bracelet will drop my dps but i need it so I can stop having to use acc food. Then, until I get 130 gear, or the opportunity to upgrade 120 gear to 130 gear, I do not buy the 120 poetic coat, pants, or hat. They will all drop my dps. The kirimu stuff when melded is just that good.

Ran a lot of T10 this weekend. Learned it pretty well, it is fun but man that enrage timer is tight. We did all the mechanics right, but couldn't get the boss below 12% before the enrage. Me and the summoner are the weak links but we are still over 300. So now we are trying pots and everything but its just another step to distract us from the mechanics, having to fine tune our dps output to make the most of things. Doesn't help that the other bard in our group has the danged t9 bow and is wiping the floor with me (my 313 at my absolute best vs his 351 consistent). T10 is easier mechanically, but that dps check... Its not like t9 now, which for the most part doesnt give a crap about your dps since echo + overgeared = mechanics are the only thing that matter.

So right now our very excellent drg is running on sch (and doing well, but still new at it) so we are having to pug a dps. Once we get a main sch in our group that can dps effectively while healing, we can gain dps there, and the drg is a beast so that will be a dps gain over the pugs (even though they all did well).

Ok. Beat T9 nine times on Saturday. Nine. Thats right, got achievement "In another Bind II" and "In another Bind III" on the same day. With a good group (and someone knowlegable calling divebomb locations) the battle can be easily farmed. With that, lets see, I got about 3 sands, 2 oils, healer pants, blm gloves, bard coat, and I think that is it. Only bard in the group, nine wins, no bow. They were right, I wanted it too bad. Saw whm crook drop 3 times, ninja knives once, axe once, pal sword once, blm staff once, monk claws once, smn book once. Only things we didnt see were drg stick, bard bow, and sch book Smiley: frown.

Did light a bit. Still getting the no activity message when I use the lens, but I figure it'll get better.

Managed to get NIN to 41 and pushed a few crafting jobs past 40 (WVR and BSM) and got ALC to 28, meaning there was a bunch of level 24 gear I could convert.

I picked up some soldiery, but not enough. On the bright side, I got lucky with a hunt and got my first drop of a log off of it. Bought another 2 with seals and upgraded my daystar pants.

I also tried (emphasis on tried) Thornmarch EX and Titan EX again. Still no luck. Titan EX was so bad that we rarely saw the heart phase.

Hiya Ill,

Treat it this way:

You get a new light activity every 200 light. Unless all you do is farm light, have no job, or any other life responsibilities, you probably won't see the aetheric activity change over more than once every week or two.

When you get a message of feeble light, treat it as = 1
gentle light = 2
bright light = 4
brilliant light = 6
blinding light = 12
newborn star = 16

So 200 Fates = a change in aetheric activity. 2000 Fates completes the nexus.
100 garuda HM, T4, or mysterious maps = a change in aetheric activity. 1000 Garuda HM, T4, or mysterious maps completes the nexus.
50 Turn 7's = a change in activity. 500 Turn 7s = a nexus
34 Snowcloak runs or Frontliens battles = a change in activity. 334 Snowcloak runs / Frontlines battles = a nexus
17 Syrcus Tower runs = a change in activity. 167 syrcus tower runs = a nexus.

That puts it in perspective. Now on to the bonus windows.

http://www.reddit.com/live/tlfmtjl4fteo

Thats a pretty good bonus tracker. The bonuses usually pop in 2 hour windows. Bonuses usually upgrade to the next class of light. So where Garuda HM usually gives gentle light, during bonus it will give bright light, so it will be like if you had ran it twice. Run everything out of bonus and it is like you only need 1000 light. Problem is that the stuff in bonus isnt always ideal for farming (levi hm or ramuh hm = no thanks)

Garuda HM and Coil turn 4 are some of the fastest farms when they are in bonus. T4 gives pretty good loot for desynthing and selling for gil (and if you tank it, working towards that mount), and same with the garuda weapons for desynth. Both give gentile when normal, and bright when in bonus.

If I get on a good garuda hm run from the beginning, it usually autopops and I can rack up a lot of light in a few hours if I stay focused. Garuda HM only takes about 4 minutes per run (+1 min for df to pop), so thats 4 light every 5 minutes. So about 96 light over 2 hours. I got 60 the other night off of my window, and I started late and stopped early.

Its a long road man.

Havent played much, kept getting kicked out of the game. Since the reset already happened, i failed my first goal of capping Poetics.

Didnt get better pants for NIN either. Had a dungeon sunday and someone kept saying "pants" every few minutes in the dungeon, so it was kinda noticable i guess :/

As for my final goal of getting the Gold Dye send to me, apparently by SE's words the "Mog station is wrong in showing me that i should have obtained it". Apparently SE canceling their payment system i used and ******** me out of playing for a few days was enough to make me ineligable, despite my flawless record ever since 1.0... Good Going SE...

Just hit my first 50 on my SMN. Started in June, Took a couple months off and hit it last night. Did my Job quest and got my last ability. I plan on finishing the story quest later this week.

I have to say that the experience is a bit more enjoyable on PS4 vs PS3. (I just switched)

Thanks, Valk! I knew this was going to be a bit of a grind. I guess I just kind of wish there were a general page that had what action constitutes each level of light without a bonus (like ye olde wiki for FFXI). Like, I found out that hunts didn't give light but was surprised that maps did. I'm assuming that beast tribe quests don't give lights.

This isn't something I'm going to rush, but I guess I'm just trying to wrap my head around everything. Maybe I'll finish by Heavensward!

BLM now 50 (full Myth gear was already waiting), WVR 50, MNK iLvl 104 and completely non-Myth now.

Thought I'd knock out an atma or two for WHM last night with the awesome new drop rate after finishing the BLM quest line, and after way too many FATEs discovered that my character still has the "No Atma for you!" trait.

My #1 goal for the week was to win Shiva EX and that was accomplished. Only 2 people had cleared it before and the rest of us had barely seen the fight before that. We went on for farm it a few times and then help more people through it the next day. She dropped me a BLM weapon \o/

Also capped Poetics and bought a 2nd piece. Helped several people through turns 6 & 7. Wow were those fights hit hard with the nerf bat.

Next on my list is to finish leveling WAR to 50, at 45 so far. My Ninja friends love me since they can't get a queue to pop.

Did 1-3 but I slacked on my book.

I really need to stop slacking on the books.

On the other hand, I did get my WAR to iLvl 100 now so I'm more comfortable taking it into stuff.
