DOL/DOH "Artifact" Armor.Follow

I'm sorry if calling it Artifact Armor is not the correct term, I've seen it referred to most commonly like that.

I'm curious about the Fisherman's set of armor you get upon reaching level 50. I was under the impression that it was all quested like all artifact armor, but it looks like for some reason for DOL/DOH you can only get 1 piece of this Artifact Armor from a quest and the other 4 pieces must be crafted. My question is, how much does it cost in materials? Hoping that you find a nice enough crafter to help you out, how much will you be paying in materials? Not trying to get exact numbers by any means, just a rough idea of what to expect to get this set of armor once I get to 50. Can the complete pieces be bought? And if so, how much?

I also hear there is something like a "relic rod" you can acquire, which is completely golden but has the same stats as the Halcyon Rod. I heard it's gotten from some achievement. Does anyone have anymore information on this?

Thank you kindly.

I'm not sure about materials. But HQ versions of the crafted gear were about 30-40k.

There's also ilvl 70 gather gear now that goes for several million.

Depends on your server - However I would say actually invest in Patricians and Dodore gear then Artisan Gear as all classes can share that. It's much more efficient in the long run.

Wint, one of the former moderators here, achieved the Rod of the Luminary. It's from catching some RIDICULOUS amount of fish - I think around six thousand all told. The last thousand in each region have to be higher level, too. You have to earn all the lesser titles for each region of the game "Good things come to those who bait: Region Name." There's also the Ironworkers Fishing Rod, the final reward from Big Fishing. You have to catch all 106 of the "big fish" - and just catching the first one can take months. I don't know anyone who has this yet, personally. It's a fairly recent reward addition.

As mentioned above, HQ artifact gear can be purchased off the market boards, or you can ask a crafter to make it for a bit less (just be sure to give a tip.) You'll also want to deck it out with the appropriate materia. 40-50K sounds about right. The materials aren't terribly expensive, but crafters sell all HQ items at a premium because, well, gotta make money somehow.

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, it looks like it's not too terribly expensive, even for the HQ versions. I love the way Artifact Armor looks, so even though there's better options which I will probably at some point also obtain, I just love having AF armor.

Is the 6,000 fish a certain type or just, 6,000 total? Seem's like FFXIV's version of the Lu'Shang's Rod. I hear it's solid gold (talk about instant bragging rights) but I have no idea what the Ironworks rod looks like, first I've ever heard of it. A month to catch one of those fish? I sure have a long road ahead of me yet!

You might not know me personally, but I've got this rod ^^ Currently the only i80 DoL tool in the game, BTN and MIN are stuck with their i75 supra tools right now. I imagine this will change at some point, maybe even before Heavensward comes out, but they're possibly having a hard time coming up with any sort of BTN/MIN feats that rival getting 106 out of the 112 available big fish. It is not an undertaking for the faint of heart >_>

Check the achievements list.

Generally speaking, you have to get certain amounts of fish in fishing spots from each 10-level range, in each region (Coerthas and Mor Dhona excluded). Getting the luminary tools for all the other DoHs/DoLs work along these same lines.

Note that the amount of fish needed used to be much higher. It was nerfed down at some point once the bozos in charge of setting achievement requirements realized it is much slower for FSH to gather on a per-item basis than it is for BTN/MIN.
