Weekly Goals and Accomplishments 1/16 - 1/22Follow

I don't know about you but I've had a horrifically stressful week at work and I want to waste most of my time this weekend doing absolutely nothing of value. Which means atma farming, probably.

1. Get the last 500K or so needed to finish PLD to 50 and then never touch that horrible job ever again. (I have a feeling I am going to hate DRG, MNK, and NIN a bit less because it's not possible for me to dislike a job any more. WAR really spoiled me.)
2. Run CT a bunch on various jobs for glamours.
3. The aforementioned atma farming for bard.
4. Finish out another book on WAR once I've knocked out paladin.

It's a shame, leveling PLD made me like WAR a bit less. Kind of soured me on tanking. I really wanted to slap the party I had in roulette last night - we were doing Qarn story mode, which meant PLD at 37 with no shield oath, and I swear they were deliberately stealing hate from me. When we came to the squares and the statue heads that have to die on them, I point blank said "Don't steal hate from me on these guys" and they stopped, only to resume on all the other monsters. Gah! At least the DPS was good.

This weekend will probably involve some T9 and more Shiva Ex. Then I'll have to decide which job will be next to 50. Currently have DRG at 34 (or whatever level you get Blood for blood at. Nin is 18 and somewhat enjoyable, but seems similar to MNK right now. Then there's the caster jobs which both stopped around 15...I can't seem to get into those jobs at all, though having one leveled would be a +.

After that, hopefully get more soldiery to keep pushing my relic.

Honestly, MNK is a ton of fun once you get it to 50. Trying to keep GL up at all times while using off GCD abilities makes it a go go go job. Definitely one of the more complicated melee jobs, but feels rewarding once you get it going.

Still no FCOB this week, static has been silent during their week long pow-wow in rl, but I have made some good progress in their stead. Still its hard to hear other groups in my shells rattling off about t13 this and t13 that when I should be there by now myself. Ah well, in all good time. Three day weekend followed by patch Tuesday!

Back to the "Race for Yoichi" OR "Battle for the second Zodiac"

1a. Just started into my sixth book. Soldiery count is low. I hope to finish at least 6 and 7 by patch.
1b. Keep grinding expert roulette once a day to get my alexandrite map. I'm at 50 on that plus 1 or 2 maps, and I have the 3 ink I need to start the quest. Might run some fates for alex to make up the difference, once i get the animus, since the drop rate for completing with a gold is going up...
1c. Run hunts when I see them for soldiery (for books and later for water) and allied seals to potentially buy alexandrite if needed, but in the short term used for ventures.
1d. Stack gc seals for bombard cores. I almost have my third.
1e. Keep checking for cheap zodiac crafted hq items. I have the ponze, firewood, ring, pestle, and vellum. I need the eel pie, the mortar, and the cloth.
1f. Keep checking for cheap II and III mats to lotto with to get det and crit II and III. Been doing good on that.
1g. Prepare for the eventual nexus grind... The new info that the stuff we do gives more light makes me excited!

Now on Tuesday, goals will change. Race for Yoichi will be abandoned, temporarily, and a new set of goals will rise to the forefront.

1. Send retainers on the XVI. Report findings.
2. Do main scenario so I can run Keeper of the Lake. Also run WP and AK hard modes. Unlock expert roulette and get my poetic farm going again.
3. Do Hildebrand to unlock Gilgamesh, and run main quest through to the end to beat this ??? mystery HM boss, so I can get my trials roulette going again.
4. Run World of Darkness. Looks awesome, want to play, get all the rewards and upgrade my stuff.
5. Maybe try Odin Ex. Havent decided, low on the list.
6. Continue Race for Yoichi, since it is doing to be way easier now...
7. Be glad I dont care about crafting much, cause they have another weapon to grind for...

And since it is preliminary patch note Friday, some comments. This patch is going to make my life so much easier....

- I Read about the FC "Aetherial Wheel" in 2.5. Thought it would do something cooler than that. And crafted with alchemy, and I'm sure its 4 stars so bleh.

- I really love the ability to put your retainers on your grounds so people can walk up and buy what they have listed on the auction house! All decked out in their cool gear too! Brings back memories from FFXI...

- This made me curious. "The number of Allagan tomestones received from dungeons and trials has been adjusted." I hope it means we get more soldiery...

- "You can receive only one reward item per week for completing duties in the World of Darkness. In the event you are awarded an item from the loot list, you relinquish your right to vie for all remaining items regardless of whether you selected Need or Greed. If time expires and a reward item is obtained automatically, this will also count toward the weekly limit." I really hope that the reward for the armors are separate from the upgrade items, as Yoshi said they would be, but it appears not to be the case...

- Frontline roulette is absolutely awesome! More tomes for doing something I already do is always good.

- Item level sync to 110 on older HM dungeons = Boo. Smiley: glare

- Borderland Ruins (Slaughter) = Deathmatch with trampolines!!!!!! Sounds fun!

- Borderland Ruins Awards "All players will receive PvP EXP and Wolf Marks, as well as Allagan tomestones of soldiery and Allagan tomestones of philosophy based on their performance." Philosophy eh? Oooooooookkkkkkkk.

- Pony drop rate increased even further and there is a special quest for those who have caught all the pokemon ponies. Interesting. Smiley: dubious Apparantly there is a Kirin mount?!?! Maybe that is the "gather all ponies" reward...

- "The rate at which soulglazed relic weapons achieve soul attunement has been increased." - Thank you baby Jesus for answering mine and Illsaide's dreams...

- "The drop rate for Alexandrite when completing a FATE with a gold rating while equipped with an animus, novus, or nexus weapon has been increased." Oh has it now? Wonder how much?

- "The level cap for desynthesis has been increased. The level cap for each class has been increased from 100 to 110. The cumulative skill point maximum has been increased from 300 to 350. Skill levels will no longer decrease if your combined skill level is not at the maximum." They are just piling on the positive quality of life adjustments aren't they?

- Rank XVI exploration ventures have been added. Time for the Valk to get back to work on those drop rates...

- Yay for /random Smiley: grin Gonna come in handy for those Triple Triad tournaments

Jobs at 50 always feel a little different from earlier. PLD gets Circle of Scorn, which helps maintaining hate for groups of mobs.

My goals are to work on lights (it might be possible to reach the 1200 level, but I probably won't), the sahagin quests, and getting my newly rank 10 chocobo to get at least some exp towards the next rank. I already fed him an expensive onion to get it unlocked.

Major goal for me is the long push from 41 to 50 on Hyrist's Paladin. He's to be my dedicated PvP character so I'll be quite happy to get that done and get him prepped for PvP.

Raid night may be undermined by new patch craze, but we're up to Shiva at this point. Getting Shiva done and on farm means we can gear people's alts and new players with weapons that will be quick and effective, as well as having a nice 120 bracelet piece that will be BiS for many of us until Heavensward comes.

As far as RP goes. Casual events for now. Really, it's a matter of taking the time to story-board which is hard when most of our story staff has been sick on and off for the past month or so. So, any progress there will be welcome.

All and all, the typical weekend towards patch day. Just reeling to dig into it.

Finished..
Valkayree thank you for the suggestions ,, Turn 4 made my day, fast and was different. I was so sick of Garuda I was falling asleep healing. Drops are better too.
I had not done turn 4 since before the buff. Tes ran a few with me and goes this almost feels like cheating now, we also ran turn 1 once.

1. Done with paladin. DONE!
2. Ran CT and got my tank boots. Super happy about that, they match my axe.
3. Didn't get to Atma farming yet. Will soon.
4. 60 mobs left in my current book. 1000 soldiery socked away for the next two books.

Would like to finish the book before the patch drops tomorrow.

This past week was very successful. I got:

Titan EX down.
Ifrit EX down. (WAR axe for glamour even though PLD is my preferred tank).
Ramuh EX down. (on Shiva now)
SCH 50 (this class is ok, but it definitely doesn't beat out WHM as my preferred healer).
PLD i113

For this upcoming week:
Re-unlock expert roulette
MIN 35 and BTN 35
Try out World of Darkness and determine what gear I should get next

I feel like there is more that I want to do, but we'll see how I feel after the patch.

This past week has been rather dull for me (thanks to the Evolve open beta).
- Got my i75 BTN main hand tool.
- Got my i60 BTN Forager's Vest and got it fully melded.
- Finally saved up and bought a personal house.
- Completed 3 more books for my PLD's Curtana Animus.

And after the patch:

- Check out WoD.
- Continue to work on BTN and PLD relic.

1a. Finished the books, got the Animus. In fact, finished book 9 the day before patch. Sweet.

1b. At 64 of 75 alex at the moment. The sphere scroll is filled in on crit and dex up to the point where I need to use Det and Crit IV to add more. Debating on whether 1 more crit or det is worth 600-800k to me when I could just pump accuracy which would give me a balanced and versatile weapon for any gearset I choose. I might just sell my det IV and crit IV (you get one from the main story line at the end!) to help pay for the 3.7 mil I just dropped on my artisan's coat (which allowed me to universally gear all my crafts with the same body again, YAAAY!).

1c. Hunts are back in now. Fast pulls galore. Can't do much about it. I go if I see them, I'm 50/50 when I arrive. If I want in on time guaranteed, I get in a hunt group in the pf. But the solidery is good and the seals are good, at ~1500 seals now, at 3000 I get that carbontwine, which is the only place you can get it right now other than final coil T12. Soldiery is going 100% to alexandrite maps.

1d. Have all four bombard cores. GC Seals from FATEs and gear turn-ins are funding my ventures now.

1e. I still need the eel pie, the mortar, and the cloth. No rush.

1f. I've got enough accuracy mats to get me all the way through my novus. Feeling good about that. K I've decided to forego the 1 point of det and crit from adding the first round of det and crit IV (I stopped at det and crit III when my 50% chance one landed) because it is not worth 1.5 million to get what is equivalent to 0.67 of 1 dex. What's that, 2 extra damage per second for 1.5 million gil? No thanks. I'll take the dirt cheap accuracy at this point.

1g. I need to read up still on how much the light bonus has increased. Might just get a bunch by doing normal stuff. So much to do it's mindboggling.

1. Retainers have brought back the usual mix of saurian skin, uraeus skin, and hq hippogryph skin so far. Silver allagan pieces have increased to 5. I see a drake skin on the board for 1 million. Wonder if that drops in XVI? When I get more statistically sound figures I'll post percentages for XVI.
2. Main scenario complete. WP and AK HM complete. Expert roulette unlocked.
3. ??? HM mystery boss beat, you get your choice of a crit IV, det IV, or acc IV for winning. Highly recommend it. At Gilgamesh at the moment, that is my only one left and I unlock Trial Roulette.
4. World of Darkness downed three times, haven't seen anything I like yet. Holding out for the bard chest piece. Its crit/det undoubtedly better than the upgraded 130 poetic chest upgrade, better than melded kirimu 110, and just slightly worse than the T13 bard chest drop. Saw the tank chest drop off the final boss my second run through, but the tank grabbed that one. I will grab whatever drops if it is Sunday and I dont have bard chest by then. At least the dungeon is fun. Third run through, ended up in a party with 5 bards, three of whom left after the 2nd boss when they didn't get their 120 bard chest drop Smiley: dubious and one other who pretended to lag and d/c hoping we wouldnt kick him so he could do nothing and still lot on the bard coat if it dropped. Smiley: mad We kicked him. That's not cool to do that.
5. Odin was not EX, but it might as well be. That battle is insane. Better not bring two tanks. Second one is not needed, and that DPS check is serious. Got the win, my one win, and stopped. Don't need the glamour that bad. I'll wait till the bulk of the population is 120 for that one (or if someone sets up a pf with 5 DPS).
6. 64/75 alex until novus. Making good time. During nexus phase all soldiery goes to water for zodiac quest.
7. Dont care about that crafting tool grind, but the new artisan coat is universal and sweet! All my craft jobs got a tidy boost of 20 craft and 20 control for a very fair 3.7 million since a bunch of folks are making them right now on Lamia and competetion is high.

Ok, some additional things to share that weren't goals but I would post them just in case, for FYI.

1. Got Titan Ex pony just before patch, very happy about that. Being an all gold paladin with gold excalibur/aegis shield, with the title (Of the Golden Leaf) and riding a brown horse with a glowing gold mane and tail just makes me smile. Like a rapper with a gold grill. Smiley: clown

2. Speculation paid off. Read patch notes, got in early (since patch was released about 2 hours ahead of schedule, bought out the market on hq platinum ore, hq wootz ore, hq platinum ingots, and hq diamonds. Dropped nearly 4 million to do it. Diamonds and ingots are not selling yet, but are rare and going for a premium. HQ platinum ore is going for 80k, but I sold some at 190k early on after patch. Currently paying for my artisan's coat and materia for that and the novus with the proceeds.

3. Kinda cool to put a retainer on the property. Two slots left, council gets first grabs, but if they don't act soon I'll open it up to the Elites. You might just see 3 Valk retainers holding hands on the property if you aren't careful, lol.

4. Trying to be as efficient as possible and make the best use of my time. Bard at 117 now, but better geared for DPS than a full 120 poetic model by a bunch. Working an a new hotbar setup where I can blast away in full manual mode, then switch back to my lazy bard mode when I need to heal, aoe, or sing. The full manual mode allows me to clip my bloodletter animation and get more dps in, plus the macros I have for bard simply do not work during hunts when the screen is full with people. So I full manual on hunts as well. Glad I kept all my hunt linkshells. Gonna need them. 1500 seals to go for twine. Will probably buy pants and upgrade them, or save it for the weapon (I'm next in line to get the tomestone when we beat T11 saturday, or at least I better be), but I will run quests to get Yoichi nonetheless.

5. Highly recommend doing the tower weekly quest after you beat WoD. Follow the questline and it will unlock a quest in Mor Dhona where you run CT, ST, and WoD once each (if you beat them it is 100%, shows up in your key items, there is no prompt) and you get an allagan catalyst and a carboncoat. Used my carboncoat for the week to upgrade my neck piece. Nice.

6. "Public service announcement from SE. HEY Guys! Try our new PVP mode! It's called slaughter! After waiting two mintues at the gates, all 72 people trampoline to the middle as fast as they can and kill each other and/or the big thing in the middle and watch the server crater!" Tried it one time, server crashed. Server crashing a lot in fact. Bad. They need to upgrade methinks.
