Weekly Goals and Accomplishments 1/30 - 2/5Follow

#1 Jan 30 2015 at 8:15 AM Rating: Excellent
Superbowl weekend! I will be spending Sunday at a sports bar eating a lot of things that are bad for me and watching commercials. (I don't care about either team.)

I'm also battling a cold, so we'll see how things go.

What else I hope to get done this week:

1. Finish my weekly ST/CT and get a drop in WoD (nothing I wanted dropped yet.)
2. Get lancer to 30 and unlock DRG. It's possible. It's at 22 now.
3. Finish out my current WAR book. Been pretty lazy about this one.
4. Make some money! I've fallen out of my usual crafting patterns and I've barely made a million gil in the last week. Tsk tsk.

As a European interested in football I wish Superbowl sunday was Superbowl saturday. Giants fan myself because my mom is from NYC, but always liked the Patriots so I might try to stay up even though I really shouldn't considering I have class the day after.

Nothing XIV related, but I will try to finish the sidestory for The Last of Us. I just want to recommend it to anyone who has not tried it. I have not been into single player games for several years, it is actually the first one I play since... maybe Dragon Age 1? but it was really very good, and special. I don't think I can explain why aside from just saying I don't think I've been so emotional towards a game, maybe ever before.

The Last of Us is a great game. Sort of an odd coincidence, but at the beginning the game they are in and around the backroads in central Texas. The road they drive on to get away after the initial outbreak I drove many times in my childhood. Then, just like me, they eventually go to Wyoming. That whole coincidence was scarier to me than the fungi-zombies. If you want a good single player experience with perhaps one of the best stories I have ever heard (made a grown man cry), try Red Dead Redemption. You wont regret it. But I agree, Dragon Age: Origins (and also Star Wars KOTOR and KOTORII and perhaps the original Mass Effect) all had excellent stories.

K, goals for the week. Two parts. Weekend and Next Week Goals.

Weekend Goals: (Lights and Hunts)

1. At 554 / 2000 light. Two waters down, all four bombard cores down. Materials I can buy with gil I'm not worried about, I'm back up to my fighting weight thanks to speculations off this last patch. I'm averaging 92 light a day. At this rate ill hit the nexus on the bow by valentine's day. Then it's all about repeatedly tanking those dungeons for the drops. So this weekend I shall get at least 92 light a day and make this nexus thing happen.

2. With my lucky final coil drops I received on Wednesday, my bard is a ilvl 130 upgraded ironworks weapon away from where I want him to be. I have the twine, I have 1700 poetics, I just need to maintain this weekend, do some hunts (I'm at 1.1k seals and have 2 logs) and use what I gain to upgrade my gloves and boots.

Next Week Goals: (Coil, lights and hunts, poetic cap, tower quest, WoD drop)

1. T12 on Monday. 2 hours. Not expecting to win it, we have a new scholar who hasn't ran fcob ever, but its all a matter of teaching. Poor guy has to run blueflame.

2. T10-T11 on Wednesday. This is the big one. Where Valk jumps a good 50 dps. I don't care if I get the bard drops (actually the only drop I could get now that would be BiS is the bard pants from T12) but the tomestone from T11 goes to me this week and I'm all over that. Bad boy will be dyed metallic red, watch it happen. My dollar is ready. Worried about T10 + prey + new scholar though. Hope he cuts the mustard.

3. I need to try and keep up the 92 light a day. That's gonna be hard with coil, and some rl events I have in the afternoon next week, so I'll just do my best here...

4. Run the WoD and the tower quests. I'm going to gear the paladin and the black mage simultaneously. I picked up blm boots from cloud of darkness this week, but next week, but for next week, tank gear and black mage gear that the tank and casters don't want is on the menu. After the ilvl 130 poetic bard weapon, all poetics go to buying tank and caster accessories, and those carboncoats go to upgrading them. I still would like the bard coat from WoD if I can get it, but I'm not gonna drop games and start over to get it. I need light and tomes and that is just a waste of time if you ask me.

Finished 2nd nexus, PLD.

Finished 3rd novus, WHM.

Looking to finish 3rd lucis, BTN.

Needing a decent moneymaker that doesn't get swamped and market-crashed as soon as I stumble upon it. That novus was pretty expensive even though I went fairly cheap on it.

Goals through Monday evening:

Do CT and ST so I can get a carbonthingy. Missed out on getting one on patch week.
Do WoD to get a drop.
Cap poetics. I don't think I'm far away from it, but I might need to be more proactive about doing roulettes other than expert.

Beyond that

Do more Sylph quests! I am 7 reputation shy of the halfway point, so that's at least 6 more days of going through the Sylphlands. As a side note, if the sylphs are using that much weed milkroot, shouldn't they be more relaxed and not constantly pelting me with Thunder?
Lights, lights, lights. I am under 600 to go, and I think my technique of helping FC mates out and doing roulettes as PLD has helped me avoid burnout.
Helping FC members with stuff. I am sure that people still need things.
Work on my non-50 jobs. ARM is close to 45, but I'll probably have to get a mess of mythril for leves/GC turn-ins.
Hunts. I am about halfway through to getting one of the good carbonthingies, so it would be better if I made a concerted effort on those rather than picking away at it like I normally do.

* Cap Poetics
* Get weekly drop from WoD (holding out for caster body, but likely to just say "F it" and lot on the first caster piece that drops)
* Max Kobold reputation (last one I need)
* Level BRD

For Verdha, in addition to the standard choboco levelling (while spiritbonding), Alex collecting, and Poetics gathering:
  1. Run AK and WP HM to re-open Expert
  2. Level Blacksmith, start hitting the leves seriously
  3. Run WoD and start the weekly thing
  4. Keep pushing the Kobold tribe missions
  5. Get retainer #2 to ilvl 100

For Waenlona, her only wish is to catch a fish, they're so juicy-sweet! and:
  1. Build up GC seals to get her chocobo
  2. Level ACN to 30 and take her final exam at the Arcanist Guild (likely to take more than this week)
  3. Keep up with first-time dungeons (Halitali, then unlock and run Toto-Rak)
  4. See what extra responsibilities the Maelstrom wants to throw her on top of everything else she already has to deal with
  5. And, hardest of all, the ongoing quest of trying to figure out the mysterious and frightening social conventions of life on land

Knocked out one goal already - got the BRD hat from WoD. Also picked up the thigh high boots from the Expert dungeons. Now I desperately need some jet black dye to make my miniskirt look right with the outfit.

Was surprised i got so much done last week that i didnt plan on at all.

Ended up getting CUL, ARM and GSM to 3-star levels, new tools and new gear. So my goal for this week is to get atleast Weaver up there too.

I'm also 6 / 16 on the dungeon drops for my Nexus completion. I have the last three weekdays of this week off so i plan to get the remaining 10 dungeons done with.

Lastly, 3200 Soldiery away from the last two Spring Water's that i need to buy. Dont want to push myself too hard, but another 1600 this week shouldnt be too rough especially since i'll most likely have to run the last 10 nexus dungeons atleast 10+ times each for the drop to show up.

Hullbreaker still no go. At least it is a quick easy run but RNG still hates me.. I ran it with two others and they got it their first run..
Finished melding my Artisan's robe. Again RNG hates me.
Got the Artisan's Patterns for now. These are not bad.
Got my the Artisan cross-pein hammer for BSM
Got my Artisan fry pan for Cul
I also got my Mastercraft 1 books for Culinary and Blacksmith.
Need to get BSM up so I can make off hands..
Got GSM and LTW desynth up some. Hard leveling at these levels.
Very productive weekend.

Edit:
Oh we did maps this weekend and Tesee got her bluebird, she was sooooooooooo excited.

The peisteskin maps really drop some nice stuff now. They drop high quality (HQ) crafting supplies now like peacock ores, hardened saps, coke, etc.

1. After a 240 point Saturday, I'm at 894 / 2000 light. Averaging 99 / day. On route to complete by Feb 13. Disappointed at my dismal 0/20 showing for the zodiac dungeon drops so far.

2. Got the 3k seals and upgraded my ironworks gloves to 130. +5 DPS. Thankfully they dye metallic with normal colors, so a quick rolanberry red and I matched my metallic red coat.

3. Ran Ifrit EX Saturday morning with a really good group. 11 wins, 2 whistle drops. Alas my 85 on the first one was beat out by a 99 roll and it wasn't meant to be. Rolled an 11 on the second one ><. But Ifrit EX was in bright so I got a ton of light out of it. Joined a "Garuda Farming Party" organized by a bard who got really mad when tank lost aggro and everyone died on the first pull, then on the second pull when we got to the tornadoes he stood in the main tank's quadrant and died . Then he went for one more go, a third try, claiming "If we wipe again I disband". Then proceeded to stand in the bad jello during tornadoes and died again. No one passed the spiny, ever. Healers were on their game. Myself and a talented black mage were the only DPS up at the end of that third run. Nightmare whistle dropped. Won it with a 73.

4. Got blacksmith supra, and proceeded to easily craft an HQ ilvl 70 offhand. Put it up for sale when I realized it goes for 3.5 million. Some dude is ninja undercutting me right now and it is frustrating. But the craft itself is not nearly as bad as I thought, if you don't consider the cost of 6 elcatl sealants. I'm not to the point in their quests where I can get the oaknots, so I'm doing turn ins now so one day I can get some good stuff and save myself a lot of gil. As for now, I'm going to hold off on making more until that offhand sells and I can get oaknots from dailies.

4. T12 tonight. New tablet does not run plumble app. We have to mumble for just today. Gonna have to go back to the crap phone version. Teamspeak on tablet spoiled me. Still, really excited for Wednesday and that tome drop...

You are trying to lap me, aren't you? After my WoD run last night, I am getting the 1800 range message. So, I will hopefully be done by the time the weekend rolls around. Thanks to FC members needing dungeons, I was able to rack up a fair amount of lights!

I am now half-considering on what job to start next for relic. WHM would be the early favorite, though I shudder to think about how terrible doing those FATEs on it would be.

1 done, surprisingly easy. Keeper of the Lake is my favorite of the new ones still.
2 working on it still, making progress
The rest held up by a busy week, as was poetics and Alex. With luck I'll get to stack up some Poetics before the deadline.

Much more attainable than Verdha's goals, and basically all achieved over the weekend, and more besides.

Lol, I'm trying! Actually, the RNG step for the zodiac rules all things. But... you could get 200 light in 2 hours if you caught garuda hm in bonus. That's 25 runs at 8 light a piece, 5 minutes each = 2.08 hours. Rest easy knowing it is right around the corner!

FATEs on whm wont be so bad with choco out. Holy is very much a thing, plus you wont ever die. And if you need help, you can shout and people almost always show up. On the plus side, you get near instant dungeon queues. Doing the animus and nexus steps on bard is a much bigger challenge than it was on tank. Pre-queuing for things that used to pop instantly is quite daunting.

That was the easiest part yet, helped her feel more at ease in the FC in fact. There's not a lot of difference between a miqo'te street girl and any dock urchin -- aside from the Calamity being the reason for the hardship, it's actually somewhat familiar. Just throw out all the social conventions when you interact with her and you're set. It's dealing with the self-controlled adults and their unfamiliar social expectations that's the hard part. This week is mostly going to be about getting my weekly caps done (poetics, WoD drop, carboncoat).

    Other goals:
Sort out the specifics for a FC Valentine's Day video
Keep at Odin (I didn't try him once last week)
FSH30 (I swear, the week I actually do this, I'm going to make an entire post about it...)
    NIN15
Craft, craft, craft (Gonna find some fresh 50s and make stuff)
    Artemis Bow Atma for glamour
I actually spent the whole week trying to make my WHM glamour work with the WoD hat. I was a pink/purple mage. It didn't work out so well. BRD's looks great though.

    1. On Monday, we got to the bennu party a few times on T12 but found that our DPS just was not cutting it. I think as we learn and become more comfortable with the mechanics the DPS will naturally increase.

    2. Smiley: glare. T10 was a 3rd try win on Wednesday, and healer hat and bard gloves drop. So that makes 4 drops for me in 2 weeks, enough to make the lead want to pass the tomestone to the tank this week. Bard gloves aren't even BiS sadly. Smiley: frownSo, the other tank getting his weapon last week now causes him to rip hate off the second tank, so T11 is tougher for them and another reason why bard moves back in line for the tomestone. I am the new guy so I'll just hang for now, I don't want to shake the boat too bad. Apparently my dps doesn't bother this group like it did my last so I guess there isn't so much pressure to upgrade right away. Sure would be nice to break 400 though Smiley: nod Anyway, we didn't beat T11 in time (only had 1 hour) so we are going to try again Monday. Got it to 10%. We were down our usual whm, and our sch was brand new at T10 and T11, so I'm sure when we get our regular whm back we will be up on it. And a T11 win on Monday and again on Wednesday would mean I get the tome next Wednesday, so that's not all bad.

    3. I'm a little behind on my light. 1036 / 2000. 86 per day. On track now to have nexus by 2/17. Queue times for bard are dismal for getting those zodiac drops, so I'm sort of waiting until I get nexus so I can just tank them at my own pace. I don't need soldiery, I'm about 100 soldiery away from buying my fourth sacred spring water, and I already have all my bombard cores. The crafted items aren't a big deal either. So the dungeon drops are all I need.

Side Note: I managed to unlock my Master Crafting II book for LTW the other day so I can make kirimu stuff and the artisans crafting mitts now. The water hardened hippogryph strap hq is crazy hard to make and requires a good bit of luck (and you need 3 of them hq to buy the Master Crafting II book). HQing the 4 star stuff you buy with the book is super easy in comparison.

Good news if you dont HQ them they can be turned in on the supra same for any book II turn in..
But it is easier to do the HQ version with the supra.

I have been bit by the PvP Bug. Which, is good considering how much of it I have to do to get the gear I want for Hyrist. All other 'goals' are essentially put on hold for a while till I get caught up on that. Which gives me plenty of time to write and work on things.

Kinda want to start a PvP shell for the Maelstrom now cause they needs some good networking and team building. They're really good in smaller teams. (8 man teams) but fall apart at night when Slaughter becomes a 72 man zerg fest.

PvP Rank 21 and climbing. Need rank 40 to achieve my goal plus gearing.

Hyrist has LoA and ST cleared and now has the ilvls to do World of Darkness, but I'm holding on having a full tanking set for it before I dive in.

Lin is currently on Haitus PvE wise till next week.

Eric is about ready to come out of mothballs. I think I'll be doing some ST runs with him when Lin is back up and running though. The plan is to gear Hyrist and Eric through Crystal Tower for PvE.

This weekend will be me working on getting RP's back up to speed to start the Outbreak plotline up again. The biggest problem with these is that they're dependent on other people, and it's so hard to get everyone together for brainstorming.

    1. Yup. Got the BRD hat.
    2. Got to 27, ran out of time to do daily dungeons
    3. Hahaha nope.

So a final summary; Waelona was more successful than Verdha, but it was a good week for both:

-- 1 done, so far only had KotL in roulette (which suits me, I love it).
-- 2 very nicely done, up to 33-ish now with mats ready for the next massive Costa-leve push. Once that hits 40, it'll be high enough to Repair my own Glanzfaust, and that will make me happy.
    -- 3 and 4 not attempted
    -- 5 SOOOOO close. iLvl 99.
-- And for general ones, Raindrop should hit Rank 16 next week. Poetics suffered a little this week, but added some more Alex infusions and have enough soldiery for a bunch more Alex maps if I so choose, or to UAT my BLM. Also ran a bunch of dungeons and stuff with FC members, which was a LOT of fun. Spiritbonding made me some gil, but not a lot because I'm keeping all those Det/Crit materia to infuse; just topped over 1 million again, though, after spending it all on upgrading secondary tools for my crafting 50s.

-- 1 done and Eyriliht is already almost Rank 3.
-- 2 taken to ACN33, final exam passed. Started on CNJ to unlock SCH, and CNJ is now 15. Think I'll probably catch CNJ up with ACN to unlock WHM, then step-lock SCH and WHM through the rest of the levels to save a ton on shared gear. She'll still identify as ACN/SCH though.
-- 3 done, Halitali and Toto-Rak done, Qarn unlocked. Going to wait until I have SCH ready before hitting Qarn, though, dps queues on Balmung are insane.
-- 4 ooh, another list of targets they want hunted! Knocked out all of those except the ones in Halitali and the one in Coerthas, as well as a ton of ACN hunts. The last few were a little tricky but DoT-and-kite works wonders, and I'm getting a whole new perspective on the sheer power of ACN DoTs.
-- 5 is actually making some progress, thanks mostly to a loud-mouthed miqo'te street urchin.
-- As for general, quite a few new fishing holes discovered, but no level advancement on FSH.
