WP (Hard) Boss Buff?Follow

Was wondering if anyone else has noticed this:

Yesterday got put in WP Hard on EX roulette, first time there for me since 2.51 started. All three of the bosses seemed at least somewhat buffed up.

Before, I never saw more than 5 spears in an entire fight, usually just 3. This time, he chucked at least twenty, at one point throwing 8 in a row, keeping two out replacing every time we killed one.

Before, the second boss put out 3 standards the first time, 4 every subsequent time, and the were randomized at the start of the fight. This time, he still only did 3 the first time, but was putting up 5 or 6 subsequent times and they seemed to randomize each time.

The third boss difference was less of a deal, but his "No healz for joo" standards lingered longer before despawning, making it harder to keep clear spots to pull him to as the fight went on.

I don't see any mention of this in the patch notes. Was this just a run from hell, or a ninja buff?

Sounds like you just landed in a party that was killing them too slowly.

The color matching which buff/debuff is determined when the instance is created. So unless your party was continually leaving and coming back in, they did not re-randomize.

Those standards stay up the entire fight unless they're killed. The normal strategy for dealing with them is to have the tank circle the outside of the room so that they line the walls.

You've got to kill the Idols, and just leave the Standards up. I don't think they ever despawn.

Got it again, and the first boss again threw more spears, though not as many as yesterday. It's not kill speed, we took him down pretty quickly. As the the last boss, we did kill the idols of course. I'm not sure about the standards; the healer in the first party insisted that they used to despawn after awhile. Guess he was wrong.

I know it's supposed to work that way. And yet, I got damage up from the first red and heavy from the second red, which is why I thought they were randomizing each time. Beyond that I dunno. It was in the same fight, no one left or anything. Glitch maybe?

Speed isn't really a factor as much as is it boss's HP%. There IS an element of randomness to it just like the buff totems on the 2nd boss (sometimes Red is det boost, sometimes it's gravity etc.)

But yeah, if you're slow in killing all it does is make the damage to party ugly, it won't spawn any more or less. WP HM is just their attempt at a FFXI throwback, but XIV's mechanics and huge script reliance makes it a bit weird at times.

I've never seen one color do different things in the same run.

Another trick worth noting: the toad standard seems to never come out in the first set of standards the bosses spawns. Whichever color you don't see in that bunch, you can assume that's the one you'll need later to remove toad status.
