Weekly Goals and Accomplishments 3/20 - 3/26Follow

#1 Mar 20 2015 at 7:17 AM Rating: Excellent
I'm about to check out of my hotel and head home after a week long work conference. Never did get XIV to run on my work laptop.

So what I have to do is:

- Cap poetics over the weekend from 0
- Get my 3 Crystal Tower runs in and get a WoD drop
- Remember to be awake from the jumbo cactpot drawing tomorrow

Anything on top of that is going to be a bonus.

Decide which melee I want as my 4th novus, seeing as I've made a tank, a healer, and a ranged novus already.

DRG gets the coolest looking zeta weapon of the three
MNK is probably the most practical of the three in group play
NIN is the only one of the three I actually play with any regularity due to the fact it doesn't have to put up with directional bs, but I also already use BRD for that same purpose

I haven't really played DRG at all since that patch a while back that buffed it and reduced its directional bs, maybe I should try that before making my decision.

Thanks to the flu and an exhausted pool of sick leave, I'm working Saturday. Fortunately I've nothing left to do.

1. Cap the rest of the poetics (200 left).
2. Cactpot stuff.
3. Check retainers to see if they sold stuff.

Next week:

1. Finally beat t10 with my group last night after 4 weeks of stupidity (and the win was wholly facilitated by gear...) so I guess next week I should expect to beat it again.
2. Get the twine from tower quest. Put the twine on paladin belt. That will put my paladin at 129.
3. I've got a carboncoat left over. So I need to cap poetics, then buy the tank wrists and coat them, and swap out the shiva bracelets. Then the paladin is 130.
4. Anything left over, we start focusing on black mage.

Verdha will almost exclusively be focusing on trying to finish off the Alex stage of her MNK relic. With some luck, that might be achievable this week.

Waenlona will catch WHM up to SCH, do the level 40 quests for each, and regear for the next 5 levels. Close to catching the storyline quests up to her actual level, will keep pushing on those too. Level 44 would let her rank up in the Maelstrom again, I'd love to get that this week.

And both of them need to level some crafting, but I'm not sure how much time will be available for that.

I managed to get my PLD to ilvl 125 last night, and it's not going to go any further until I get my Zodiac weapon in order. So it's back to the dungeons! (Kat, look me up if you're okay with High Roulette dungeons as a change of pace from Expert Roulette ones.)

I also managed to get the left side of my MNK decked in 120 gear, so Poetics will be going towards WHM and MNK accessories.

I still need my WoD drop for the week. Maybe I'll go as a lesser played job and see if I get lucky.

My Thyrus book needs to be worked on. Still the two lower dungeons to go in addition to two FATES. Then it's the easier stuff. In fact, I may try to shanghai one of the FC members who's looking at dipping her toe into tanking on a Copperbell run.

Should also mention I put in my two weeks notice yesterday (got negotiated up to April 15th by my boss since a week of that is scheduled vacation... okay sure) and I'll BE FREE IN A FEW WEEKS HOORAY!

I'm going to live off my savings for a while and give writing another go.

Verdha's weekend report (I'll be on Waenlona now and Sunday, back on Verdha on Monday): Crit 43/44, probably need two more full sessions of spiritbonding to get the last two materia to pull that to 44 (assuming one meld fails, which is expected as per odds), then hammer out some Alex and complete with +6 Acc (instead of Det). And now i120 thanks to upgraded Ironworks boots.

Kids and wife were gone for Friday/Saturday, so decided to play a whole lot of XIV.

Just hit the zodiac farming phase with Nexus and decided I'd do dungeons for 2 days straight and knock off as many of them as possible. Managed to finish off all but AK, Qarn and SV. This phase has been the most enjoyable so far, just queue up for several dungeons at once and see what you get! Helps that there's been quite a few new players and it's been a social experience for most runs. Also helps that AV was 1/1 and DD was 1/5. So hopefully I can finish these off over the next couple days. From what I'm reading though, AK seems to have a pretty horrid drop rate compared to other dungeons for some reason.

Beyond that, going to keep running leves on my quest to hit 50 on all crafts.

WoD DRG belt. Just need the pants now, which means they won't drop for another four weeks or so. I also finally reached the point on my relic lance where I'm starting to use level IVs. Since I've always been a proponent of never paying for something you can get yourself for free, I've started spirit bonding. The first run netted me two crits, and a det. The rest was mostly crap, but it paid for the materials to make the gear set. Aside from that, not too much. I've been playing a lot of Far Cry 4, so it's been seriously cutting into my game time.

I finished up my PLD baby relic last night, knocking that mess off my list. I found myself in the unfortunate position of having to main tank Titan HM on a job I don't like, but we got it on the second attempt.

Now that that quest is off my list, I can start on the lance when I hit DRG 50.

I did very very little this weekend FFXIV related. Now I can say I am as caught up as I can get, I'm just maintaining till June. Keeping up with weekly lockouts at this point to stay caught up and push as many jobs past 110 as I can get them.

Capped poetics Saturday, did not win cactpot, but I'm just stacking my points for now. Retainers sold everything of note, leaves me with 22 million.

Was on briefly Sunday, got a tell to join a t9 farm. That was a blast. Beat it 3 times (out of 4) and got the dragoon spear drop. Was a pretty good group. I like folks like that.

It's an accomplishment that I came back to the game.

The hyur on the front of my 1.0 disc cover kept begging me to.

Hmm let's see...

GSM to 50 (first craft to 50), WVR to 38, all others to 15 or slightly above (thank you, GC supply missions), BTN to 37.

BRD to 50 (instant i103). SMN/SCH to 47.

Garuda, Titan, Ifrit EX done for the first time.

And using my newfound goldsmithing powers, leveling has become spiritbonding time. I seriously wish I'd known I could put those together a long time ago.

3-23 - 3-26 update

1. Can't get half the static to show up on time.... time to call it quits. Free agency does feel like "freedom".
2 & 3. Twine acquired. Paladin belt upgraded. Still shy of capping poetics (200 left) but was able to buy paladin wrists and upgrade. Paladin is officially 130.

So paladin 130 (with zeta), bard 127 (with zeta), war 126, ninja 117, blm and monk 113, summoner 112, dragoon 110, and scholar and white mage 108.

So, I haven't been doing too much lately (which is why I haven't posted in the last thread or two).

However, today I did what I thought was impossible. I get to check something that has been in so many of my posts before.

I got FSH30, guys.

Again, a week with not as much play time as I wanted (a nod there to the temporary absence of AT&T DSL), but still happy with it.

Verdha is i120 MNK with some new Augmented Ironworks, just one Savage Aim IV from capping Crit+, and then six remaining slots to fill with Acc+ (unless 650k+ gil drops in her lap while waiting for Savage Aim IV prices to hit their weekly low, in which case one of those might be another Det+ instead). Poetics not capped, but the poetics time has all been spent spiritbonding. And... Chocobo Rank 17!

Waenlona is the first MMO character where I've advanced main storyline quests and so on at the level they open up, instead of waiting to be overlevelled and overgeared. SCH is monstrously awesome for this -- it's odd how Verdha never felt right on SCH, but Waen seems like she was born to it. So making progress towards Garuda at SCH44, and DD just opened up for the next Maelstrom rank-up. Swimsuit obtained too, so she has one more (very) casual clothing option now. And... Chocobo Rank 6.

Edit: How could I forget? Waen unlocked Beast Tribe quests (except Ixal) and did at least one of each, and got her first Soldiery. I love Beast Tribe quests.
