Sooo. . . With the Mac version launching soon, can anyone direct me to the answer if I will 1. Have to buy a mac version if I already have a PC version or will it be like WoW where one copy is both? And 2. Will I need to buy heavensward for PS4 AND pc/mac?

No idea on 1, the common sense answer should be No, but SE's licensing process has been weird.

On 2 the answer is yes because of the aforementioned licensing wackiness. If you want to play Heavensward content on both your PC and PS4, you'll need two copies. Keep in mind that if you're buying collector's editions or digital deluxe editions, you only need to do THAT once. The other one can be just normal non-shiny edition Heavensward.

I also have a question regarding the Mac version. I'm getting impatient about it and I'm considering just Bootcamping till the Mac client is released.

1. If I buy the PC version and make an account using that, will my Mac version share the same characters and everything? Or does it start fresh?

2. Does the in-game cash shop offer digital Collector's Edition upgrades, or do you have to buy the actual CE version initially?

The character will be transferable across platforms. A digital collector's edition will be available in the cash shop, most certainly.

However, you'll need a copy of the game for each platform just for licensing purposes, even though the characters will be cross platform. You only need the collector's edition once for all platforms.

My wife and I play on PC/PS4. That's 4 copies right there, if we get our Macs involved so we can use any platform at any time; 6 copies of the expansion.

We are deciding now which ones we will continue with but ~500 dollars to play on the platforms we own is sad. PC/PS4 I get... but OSX licensing makes me cry when it's just a wrapped client like GW2.

Like Final Fantasy XI, the game specs will be extremely high for the time, but in about 5 years, an average machine can run it on max settings with little to no issues. Tanaka also expressed interest in making a benchmark program available.
