If you haven't already preordered Heavensward, Green Man Gaming has a coupon code available for 25% off the PC version . It's good for both the standard version and the digital collector's edition. The code is:

25OFFF-FHEAVE-NSWARD

You have to create an account and sign up for thier newsletter to use the code, and it's only good until June 5th. GMG is always doing some pretty solid deals on both new and old games, so it's not a bad idea to be getting thier newsletter anyway.

That's the beauty of pc gaming. Can't remember the last time I paid full price for a new release title. Some sites are sketchy and probably illegal, but even the legit ones offer up some damn good deals. Bought the Witcher 3 for 35$ on launch day, great stuff. I'll eventually have to bite the bullet and pay for the expansion, so 25% off is probably as good as it's going to get from here until release.

If I paid $1000-2000 on a gaming computer that can play the games as well as they play on my PS4, I would hope that someone would give me a discount on the games. Help me recover the cost, you know?

With PS4 I paid $400. They have room to charge me a bit more for the games I think.

Eh, you could probably build something on par with a ps4 or better for about 500$. Especially if you go the AMD route in terms of mobo and CPU. PS4 games are back up to 69,99$-74,99$ (Canada), it's getting to ridiculous pricing again. Almost as bad as my 89,99$ copy of Chrono Trigger.

Seriously, if you want a PC on par with a PS4, it'll cost about what a PS4 does. These supposedly next gen consoles really aren't that powerful.

Guess I'm that far out of the game. But, every time I have jumped into PC gaming in the past, I say "I'm gonna do this!" and go out and spend all the money to put this excellent beast together. Then, by the time I spend the money and set it up, it is already outdated and literally the only thing that will run on it is the game I bought it for (and everything made around the same time).

I just upgraded my PC with a card that costs about as much as a new PS4, ha.

That said, even with my two-year-old card -- and even when playing at lower resolution -- FFXIV still looked way better on my PC than it did on the PS4. Played more pleasantly, too. And while I've got a small stack of old PS games that are now obsolete on my PS4, my PC has ultimate backward compatibility! Not to mention, there's just so much more you can do with a gaming PC that you can't do with a video game console.

You can put an SSD in your PS4, I believe. That single upgrade will greatly improve the performance of FFXIV, reducing load times of zones, etc.
